Algonquin Assassin Posted September 26, 2021 Share Posted September 26, 2021 I’ve been a fan of Gran Turismo since 1997 and have bought every single one (even those quirky spin-offs like Concept Geneva 2002 and Tourist Trophy). I’m so pumped we’re finally getting a numbered sequel. Sport was/is awesome, but it’s been 8 years since Gran Turismo 6. As I mentioned in the PS5 thread I’ll be getting the 25th Anniversary no matter how expensive it is because games like this come around once a generation so I don’t mind spending it on such a beloved franchise game. I only played the GT games of the PS1 and PS2 era, so GT 1-4, now i only play Forza Motorsport 7 if i want to play a game that is similar to Gran Turismo, and it just isn't the same. Playstation 2 and the first X-Box were my last consoles that i owned, 18 years ago i completly switched to PC. GT7 really looks good, but im pretty sure the new Forza Motorsport will look even better, but the gameplay just isn't the same. Also i did like the music in the GT games. Yeah i miss it, but i won't buy a console just for one game, that would be insane. In a perfect world, no exlusives would exist, maybe we get that someday, but i doubt it. But I don't need to play them to know they're garbage *cough* Standard cars *cough* and Premium But this game should be the one 5 and 6 were supposed to be. I was sold by the amount of customization, which is nice to see. I wouldn’t lose hope if you’re strictly a PC gamer. Quite a number of Sony exclusives have found their way onto PC like Days Gone, Horizon Zero Dawn, Death Stranding, Uncharted 4 etc. The lines of what is an “exclusive” don’t seem to mean as much as it used to be. In saying that that’s mostly between console and PC. Where consoles are concerned there’s about as much chance of a Gran Turismo game ending up on an Xbox as R* releasing Agent next week. I know not everyone likes the idea of exclusives, but I see them as integral to building a brand image for companies like Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. Without exclusives I think gaming would’ve died off years ago as there would be no competition in building franchises that can be pushed for consumers to buy their products. That’s why Microsoft spent millions acquiring Bethesda for exclusive games because they’ve been getting their arses kicked by the PS4 the entire of last generation. It sucks for people who can’t afford more than one console, but that’s just how business works in pretty much any field. Mexicola9302 Posted September 26, 2021 Share Posted September 26, 2021 If there were no exclusive titles, ppl could finally decide what platform they wanna use, sure you can't play any Wii games on a x-box or playstation because the Wii controller would be missing for those, but the other way around would work, and all PS games could be played on x-box and vice versa. I hope this exclusive thing stops at some point, im glad i got to play all Halo games as a PC player finally, and also we can play the Forza games on PC now, also it was good that Metal Gear Phantom Pain, was released for PC. I really just mean the very important titles, it just sucks that ppl have to buy a console just to play one game. I would never wanna play Mario, i mean this can be an exclusive to Nintendo because it always was, but Gran Turismo is a simple racing game, why not just release it for all platforms, or at least for PC too. If i think about it, all games should be released for PC too, i mean all of them, then the console ppl still can have their war on what is the better console, and ppl would still need to buy a console, well if they are console gamers, and want to play a specific game, but the PC should always get all titles, we pay the most money for our hardware we could play all games in better graphics etc. why not use that. Oh yeah because of pirated copies... And Day's Gone is a bad example, it's a real sh*tty port, if you drive the bike the game gets slower for some reason, that probably doesn't happen on Playstation. I bought that game and im horribly dissapointed, the riding the bike part completly ruins the game, it's so weird stuttery, ugh. I hope the exclusive thing stops, or at least all is getting released for PC too, i wouldn't care if the normally exclusive games come to PC a year later, but they should be released for it, and that always. In that one year it could get sold a lot for the console, and after that they could earn additional money if they release it for PC. Anyway this is one of the reasons Gran Turismo 5 is my least favourite one. I always thought it was odd how it mixed what were essentially HD car models from 4 with more detailed car models. It seemed like a lazy tactic to bolster the car numbers. I’ve never seen that in any racing game before and thank God it hasn’t been seen since. Collibosher Posted September 27, 2021 Share Posted September 27, 2021 While it may come out as cheap or lazy to add those less detailed "standard cars" to boost the total number of cars, I have to admit that I would've still chosen that option over "less quantity, more detail" -vehicle fleet with those games, purely because most of my favorite and the more interesting "niche cars" were from the standard car category and I'm sure many of them would've been dropped out, like in GTS, if they had concentrated more on the details of the few. Also I kinda think that one of "the things" about Gran Turismo is the insane number of cars... With DLCs being a common thing these days, maybe it's not necessary to have low/high quality -categories anymore, since you can easily expand and diversify the vehicle fleet post-release. My favorite car, 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7, I'm kinda concerned that it's not going to be included, if and when all the cars are going to be just "HQ" renditions of some popular and flashy sports cars Or what about some of these more "niche" race cars? I mean it's not like it's open world or something and still it has bad pop ups. It can clearly be seen at the top of the fence around the race track, and the audience on the higher seats, they just pop up. That shouldn't happen in any racing game nowadays. This GT is near perfect. Had a blast with my hellcat charger. The customization? I have my eyes set on buying a Honda Fit IRL and that being my first car in GT7 is like heaven calling. Before I past out earlier I unlocked the legendary museum and I can't wait to get my paws on the F50 the one that was on display was silver About to hop back on and tune my S13 Silvia K. I just wish I did not dump all my money on my Q'. As I just started the Nissan collection in the cafe and, tho I have many of my favorite JDM cars my AE86 Levin and S13 Q that I been running is just not keeping up with RX'7's 350/370z's Supra's, evo's, etc. I really want the 300Z TT and more Silvia's. It's a bit more unforgiving but I'm just into the tuning and understanding the updated physics. Biggest gripes are the super long tutorial that locks many features, the used car lot not really cycling cars, and some cars not having rollcages. scalliano Posted March 9 Share Posted March 9 Started playing on Saturday lunchtime, rolled credits last night. It feels like there is a huge chunk of the middle of this game that is just... missing. There I was, working my way through the menu books, still on A-licence races in road cars for the majority, and then all of a sudden I'm taking part in the World Championship. Where are the DTM tourneys? GT All-stars? JGTC championships? Nope, all that is left aside from the driving missions are a bunch of sporadic 10-lap races with insane and arbitrary fuel and tyre wear multipliers that mean the Castrol Supra (locked behind preorder I might add - should have been a red flag, frankly) is only capable of ONE LAP of Le Mans before needing to refuel. And this 5-lap race around Le Mans against 800PP opponents nets you... wait for it... 5,000 credits. What the absolute, total and utter f*ck, Polyphony? I don't care about "but muh free updates", it doesn't solve the very current problem that I already feel like I'm done with the game and I was only really getting started. Sport has more single player content right now, and given PD's previous track record, that game will be rendered completely unplayable in a couple of months thanks to the online requirement. Turn 10 might have dropped support for FM7, but at least I can still play that game. As it stands, PD have given Turn 10 an open goal. f*ck this game.
