Zidane500
Rockstar have been milking GTA V for over 8 years and counting. Once GTA 6 eventually releases how long do ya'll think they'll milk GTA 6 for? Gdog, Tru Company, Crystalien and 1 other 3
Kris194
We got to the point where if you'll create technological masterpiece you can simply keep releasing content to it for many years to come. That being said, they can "milk" it for many, many years without game visibly aging. DexMacLeod
Yeah, I think GTA VI will be designed from the ground up with longevity in mind and will definitely have a longer life than V. Hopefully that means better updates along the way and maybe even some single player content but the fanbase has already told Rockstar that that isn't necessary so who knows. Badman_
I believe GTA 6 will be designed to be even more "milkable" than GTA 5 currently is. My bet is +10 years. Crystalien, Octane, Moth and 4 others
Muller147
With how V's gone/still going I really wouldn't be that surprised anymore if I end up having to ask my future retirement home nurse to help me play VI. But the worst case scenario is VI not being released at all (very unlikely though). JetNormalGuy and Crystalien 1

That would be good for other IP's, it could be seen convenient for R* to expand their online catalog, with different online modes they could test with a rich single player (That whether we like it or not, is a bussiness model that is here to stay). We could have Bully 2, a sequel to LA Noire and maybe even the rumored Medival project as next games, that way R* would have an online mode set in the School/University, another one set in the mid 20th century with a cop/detective dynamic, and a game set in the middle ages that could work like a realistic version of ESO, or maybe even combat focused like For Honor. There are too many possibilities regarding the future of R* post GTA VI release. Lock n' Stock
Considering the current state of V, THIS is a highly likely scenario. They've probably figured out it's a profitable strategy now, drag out the lifespan of a major title for as long as possible with the minimum amount of effort, until the next one (eventually) gets made. If only we realised how good we had it over 10 years ago. NightmanCometh96, Ryo256, Ivan1997GTA and 10 others 11 1

Not just from R* North, but all of their studios and it never felt over saturated either. For whatever reason that changed after 2010. Maybe we don’t need 3 games year, but waiting almost a decade for a new entry is ridiculous IMO. Sadly this is how it is nowadays. Shame. HikikomoriYume
They should just call the next game "Grand Theft Auto" and expand on it for the next 15 years. Over time they can add new cities, gameplay modes, update the graphics and mechanics etc. They're going to have to do something along these lines considering virtual reality is taking off, unless they plan on abandoning screen-based gta at some point and transitioning to virtual reality. Thomas Cavendish
I agree with all these comments. 6 is going to be milkable for the next 15 to 20 years with dlcs and new versions. The graphics, physics, mechanics, won't improve much for the next years (it has already reached a plateau), unless some revolutionary technology leap happens. Detective Phelps
They will milk VI for as long as possible (this is IF they will ever stop milking V first LMAO). They will almost certainly not make SP DLC for GTA VI; why would they, when they didn't make any for RDR2? Jimmy Cast
Ten years is probably a good estimate. Which means we'll probably also still be getting GTA V content until 2023. And still not be getting Red Dead Online content until 2028. At which point GTA VI will hopefully be released. Kind of painfully funny that Rockstar released almost as many games between GTA IV and V than they ever had previously and in the 8 years since GTA V's release have only released one. You have Bully, Midnight Club, Max Payne and Manhunt (was very hard to get in Germany in 2004). I'm glad i spend my best gaming years with the PS2 and PS3. PS3 Era is also great, GTA IV and Lost and Damned & Gay Tony and GTA V. LA Noire, Red Dead Redemption & Max Payne. But PS4 was meh... RDR 2 was EPIC and the graphical enhancement of GTA V were great. but that's it.. Sadly There will only be a new GTA game when the income / earnings from the previous GTA drops significantly. I don't know about other people but SP for V + all of their franchises aside from RDR being shoved aside maybe to never see the light of day again is the main reason I hold so much resentment for GTAO + Rockstar now, Midnight Club for certain is done because for some bizarre reason car culture exists in GTAO. But sticking to GTA V I see absolutely no reason why GTAO + SP DLC's couldn't easily have co-existed, both sections of the fanbase would have been satisfied and Rockstar + T2 would still have raked in the huge revenue they have now anyway. iiCriminnaaL, Crystalien and NightmanCometh96 2

Gdog
depends doesn't it. i mean if we assume that GTA VI will be as successful or even more successful than GTA V then yeah we won't be seeing GTA VII until ~2035 assuming we get VI in 2023-24. If it comes out on PS5 then we'll no doubt get PS6 and PS7 remasters in in 2027 and 2034. i'm not saying GTA VI will be a failure. it'll still sell really well but if TakeTwo aren't happy with the numbers then they might be tempted to get a new GTA out quicker. i think GTA VI has a lot to prove. it literally needs to become the 2nd best selling game of all time to beat GTA V. i know we're all hungry for the next game but that's a huge ask to sell 151m copies. at least that's what it's at today .... we know PS5/Series X versions are coming. Also, with the major staff departures at Rockstar and the current political climate i can't see Rockstar going with their usual approach of a present day game with satire. i think they'll play it safe and set it in the past and tone down the satire. It's still to be seen if Rockstar can still make a good GTA game with the staff they have (i'm sure they are talented but Leslie + Dan played a huge part in these games) and if they will take the bold or safe approach with the game. rjmthe2nd
GTA 6 will make more revenue than GTA V in less time, records will be broken again and for that reason we'll go another five years until getting a title after GTA 6.
Aquamaniac
My guess is 10 to 15 years if it will be as successfull as V was which I sincerely doubt. Edited October 28, 2021 by Aquamaniac
