leaflinks
Hi, I bought a copy of Grand Turismo, and I had to install, I did realise it needed a lot of space, minimum 8GB, i think. So I install it or began to do so too late, so I decided to cancel it. I then tried again to install it today, but a system restore was done and then loaded into the system, so I played the game, and was going to install the update for it, which then leads to 23 updates or installations components of the game. But nothing. Now all the system does is go to a black screen, the green light is on, and the other one on the bottom left. The orange one flashes on start up, but once on the black screen, no activity, I can press the eject tap button, the power button does nothing, I tried several times to switch it off. So I just do so from the back power mains flow that remove power to the system. I tried youtube, so a few clips, but I am not sure what the problem could be, could it be just that it is a OS glitch, or is there something more to it. The errors for the PS3 I have seen in the past usually involved a yellow light display. So that has never happened with this old PS3, I bought it on Ebay in christmas 2016 for the Last of US game only. Has a 40GB hard drive I think. Anybody had this similar problem years back, when ever some on here may of owned one or some on here may be too young even of owned a PS3 or cared to own one. I thought I'd post my odd, out of the ordinary problem with this. The PS3 has frozen after two hours play time to time. Recently on GTA V online it frozes always, I found out it was a disc problem, I just ordered a copy of that game to play the remaining online until that is switched off at christmas. leaflinks
According to various old posts from other sites over the last several years, it is possibly a corrupt drive that needs formatting, or buying a new one entirely. Considering the price of the drives are expensive, and a new console is as much as one or even less. It may be a non starter to get the PS3 working. The restore goes to 90% then a black screen, then 100% and that is it, just a circle. There isn't anything more that can be done, it does turn off via the power button, the orange light stops flashing. So there isn't any way to get into the menu system. leaflinks
I ordered one but never turned up, so I got a refund. The only option is to buy a cheap faulty PS3, and try that drive, but that just adds to the original cost of two old games, plus GTA V is switching off by christmas. So the PS4 online for one month, and cancel is a cheaper option that buying an old PS3 to continue some online play. Downside is games, like Need for Speed rivals, or SSX, pretty useless online on the PS3, no lobby. Terminator, The Last of Us, which was why I got the PS3 back in christmas 2016. Either way, I lose a few games. If only xbox 360 didn't have a subscription for online.
