I've just bought a condo downtown on Vice City pc and theres a Helicopter on the roof so i decided to have a go at it and i've crashed about 4 or 5 times. Could someone please tell me how do u control the helicopter on the KEYBOARD thanks.

It's very very difficult. Get a gamepad - or even better, get a psone/ps2 controller converter, and use a dual shock pad on your PC !!!

In my experience it's pretty easy to fly the helicopter with the keyboard despite the crappy control layout, provided you don't try racing around the city at maximum speed. Up and down arrow keys go up and down, left and right keys slip left and right and turn if you hold them long enough, keypad 1 and 2 turn without side-slipping, keypad 9 accelerates and loses altitude, keypad 6 brakes. Using those I can cruise around at a decent speed and land in some pretty tight spots.

Planes and the RC helicopter, on the other hand, I found very hard to fly with the keyboard. I'm sure I could do the leaflet dropping mission much more easily in a real plane than the one in the game...

Johnny The Homicidal Maniac

Just keep on tapping Keypad 9 to go forward while pressing up

flying the hunter...  :/   i have 2 fingers on the 9 and 6 [on NUMPAD] for leaning forward to gain speed or leaning backwards to lose speed, 2 fingers on the 1 and 2 [on NUMPAD] for fast horizontal turning, 2 fingers on the arrow keys, to either fly up down or make a smooth turn, and finally 2 fingers on ALT and CRTL to fire the miniguns and the rockets... in conclusion its not very hard  :sui:

[it would be nice if there was someone else on the rockets and miniguns... like in a real Apache :)  ]

Do you have a joystick?  Anyone who has a pc really ought to have one.  VC helos/planes are very easy to fly using one.  You just need to map the throttle/rudder to it as the rest of the contrlos are already there by default.

I have found that this key config is the most effective.

config.jpg

Note the Sprint function is on the LSHIFT, makes it very easy

to run with your pinky. The Look and Turret functions are set

to the U-D-L-R keys. This conifg (i feel) kinda simulates the

two anologs on the ps2 controller when flying in an aircraft.

Now if only rockstar would make the aircraft not tip foward in

standard (control) mode so you dont have to constantly tap

the foward key. They did it for the Demolition Man mission...

why not the rest of the game?

I've configured my controls pretty comfortably.  Right mouse accelerate, A and Z go up and down, D and S turn left/right.  Shift stops/reverse

The controls in GTA-VC for heli/airplane are as in real life. Pull the stick forward makes the heli to drop its nose and accelerate, and for airplanes the same thing except its diving.

I recommend a joystick for the controls. Then the heat is rising, I keep pressing wrong buttons.

The 'Demolition Man'-mission isnt easy, because you have to start dropping the bombs from the bottom and up. I started from the top and went down. While getting the next bomb, the game had placed the top bomb on first floor.

I didnt hardly use the sideways keys (left-right). Instead look left-right, making the real rotor do all the turnings.
