This time, not even the trailer looks good. Doesn't look like a R* thing AT ALL. Which is serious stuff, knowing that they can pull nice trailers out of sh*tty RDO updates, so to speak......

They have a general challenge that they don't want to move people onto GTA VI when GTA V's Online is still briniging in money.

 

The most logical solution for me is buying GTA VI gives you a new story and adds a second island to GTA V's map. But you then have a problem that GTA V's graphics will be at least 8 years old (if the benchmark is the PC version).

 

What they really should have done was a major overhaul of the graphics by now to bring it up to RDR 2's standards and engine plus a bit more. Yes I know that's not quick or cheap. But they can afford it. And it would have solved all their continuity problems too.

 

You really have to ask what they have been doing for the last two years. If they haven't made serious progress on GTA VI behind the scenes then they need to take their thumbs out of their backsides. But if so, they would do better to tease that, rather than this non-event that E&E currently looks like. As I mentioned in another thread, quietly re-release for the new consoles, sure, but this doesn't merit a bit trailer or posting a release date that you have to embarrassingly put back.

Not cheap sure but the game still tops charts every month, people would be FORCED to buy it for the new content, and it'd save a lot of backlash. 

They can damn well afford it and it'd bring Los Santos up to date and perhaps make it compatible with GTA VI's map/online mode allowing for you to visit Los Santos and do the stuff there while still going to Vice City or wherever the f*ck the game's set(Hoping Vice City. VI, Vice City... perfect!)

You know R* could've avoided this if they just released a Newswire post saying "delayed, we need more time to make it better" (cp2077  ) and people would've accepted it but nooo they had to release this turd of a trailer to announce a delay.

 

Lester sitting on 2 chairs in the trailer is an insult considering it wasn't in the game in 2013. That's how little they cared about the trailer.

If I do get a updated console next year, no way am I going to plunk down a good $50 or more for a this.  Even if all my achievements, and online awards carry over, still not worth it.  Maybe if they actually put the Doomsday Heist in story mode like it was originally meant to be, I'd think about.  Probably not still.

The E&E update for Online should be free to everyone, but people who purchase it or the full E&E package should get "Returning Player" bonuses and an injection of cash.

That's precisely what Skyrim is doing for their Anniversary edition coming out. If you own the recent edition it's free for all!

 

I respect them for that although I'm not a fan of them pumping it out yet again you have to at least give them credit. Though I'd wager that Microsoft buying Bethesda has something to do with that since Microsoft's been more consumer friendly

 

R* could learn a thing or two considering right now E&E just looks like the same f*cking game! And some of us bought it THREE times already(OG, CG, and PC) and then there's some of us who bought the digital versions for the consoles when they went on sale(for convenience, nice not having to change discs if I suddenly feel like playing GTA lol)

I guess it is for economic reasons that they don't release VI and instead milk GTAO? If there weren't yet unreleased content (car liveries, arcade game) I would not have prolonged my Xbox live access and gave GTAO a long break. I will very unlikely get the E&E version. If the new Saints Row has a massive multiplayer mode, I might actually abandon GTAO for it.

Only R* and Sony are being scummy about PS5 and Xbox Series upgrades, the majority of other companies are releasing them for free but then again, most are just slightly better textures, a resolution boost and FPS increase which is exactly what, so far, R* is aiming to charge full price for. I seriously hope that R* does not drop slightly better graphics and a resolution and FPS boost for $70. Peoples loyalty can only stretch so far and doig that would show how out of touch they really are.

The bare minimum should be all Online content added to SP so stuff like Benny's, the Casino, Music Locker, travelling to Cayo Perico, vehicles, weapons etc and even then thats not enough to charge full price for.

Even if they charged $20 for the entire thing (HA!) I would expect DLC sized additions. Like FO4's Far Harbour and Nuka World levels of additions. The Online mode will be $20 alone while the entire package will be $70.

In the words of Phineas T. Barnum, "all publicity is good publicity", which sticks out like a sore thumb from a company that says nothing on a regular basis about their plans for the future, but constantly churns out rinse and repeat propaganda and marketing that communicates nothing to its player base, ever.

 

I have no idea about Rockstar's plans, other than we're getting upgraded graphics next year if we're willing to pay for it!

 

Go into any public lobby right now and witness the amount of noobs under level 100! Rockstar's business model is to attract as many new and casual players as possible who will buy new copies and deal in shark cards, but at the possible expense of its loyal fan base who may decide that they have had enough?

 

On a personal level, I'm at the wrong end of the age spectrum and probably too cautious, but what if I don't buy their games and updates any more and just move on?

 

Slightly off topic, but a while back Microsoft bought Undead Labs, who make the excellent State of Decay 2 on Xbox. They have already released an enhanced X|S version, given us new gaming mechanics and a map expansion, all for free. OK, it's mostly single player, but there are no microtransactions or griefers trying to disrupt us from grinding our in-game cash; instead, Microsoft regularly update their game for free to showcase their platform while also openly announcing that they are working on State of Decay 3. Everyone is happy and Microsoft are using their profits to market themselves in an intelligent way.

 

Rockstar, however? Milking it once too often and exasperating their long-term fans.

I think this is something many (in general, on social media, etc.) don't realise when posting comments. Take-Two doesn't storm your house, take your money or credit card, and stick the game disc on your console. You choose to buy the game. If you don't want it, it's not your thing and think it's a cash grab then that's what you should do - yelling isn't going to do that much other than annoy yourself, and others.

No one is yelling and there is no need to be so protective about the game that you champion.

 

I made a very carefully worded post that I have been contemplating for a few days. As a player who bought the original version on disk in the 1990s and having the revenue to buy future games, I'll be playing for the next 10 years probably, just like everyone else.

 

However, there is something wrong with the way that Rockstar markets its game and communicates with its player base!

Because you and your colleagues are very clearly being politicians about this issue and have not once shown willingness to openly criticise Rockstar on here…this despite a unanimously critical reaction from everyone here save for maybe 2 forum members at best.

Rockstar never fail to deliver (not yet), but their business model seems archaic and crusty these days, which is maybe putting them under too much pressure?

 

E&E versions should be free or a nominal fee at most, and Rockstar should stop pretending that the world isn't talking about GTA 6 and learn to open up a bit. We can all take delays and mishaps if they treat us like adults, but not if they treat us like little kids.

 

Rockstar are digging a hole for themselves by plugging a regular and expected enhancement as the next big thing, but totally avoiding GTA 6.

 

And what if GTA 6 is delayed by three or four years or doesn't come out at all? I fear for them.

They didn't just buy Bethesda, they bought their parent company Zenimax meaning MS owns Starfield, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Doom, Wolfenstein, Dishonoured, Deathloop, Ghostwire etc.

Saw some comments related to how Microsoft handles things compared to Rockstar. It's worth pointing out that Microsoft isn't a video game company. They're a tech company with a side division for video games. Just looked up Microsoft's revenue numbers for 2020. Office, Servers and Cloud Servers were over 50% of business. Then 16.16% from Windows. Then 7.73% from gaming. And for Gaming, Microsoft cares most about subscription money. That's why they added the Games Plus thing so people would spend even more a month. Buying a company like Bethesda was needed to bolster the subscription library, especially since Sony keeps signing deals with 3rd party developers (including Bethesda) for time-locked exclusives for consoles.

 

Take-Two is 100% a video game company. All their money is from gaming.

That would be the game breaker.

 

It's something I do feel could happen, just like RDRO. I'm just glad it'll be free for me to find out, but if that happens, I quit instantly and my time with online comes to a swift end.

It's been thrown around in the office if not implemented into the game. They know exactly how many people play in Invite Only and I bet it's a sizeable portion of them, they will want to drive people away from Cayo Perico Invite Only sessions. It would not even surprise me if they either nerf Cayo payouts or put a one or two hour cooldown on it.

The NAT Type "fix" freed me and my friend for a while but Cayo and Tuners dragged me back in as its Invite Only.
