GTA Online Coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S March 2022

The only positive I can draw from this trailer is that GTA VI is likely R*'s main focus, as they clearly aren't putting much effort in to the supposed 'expanded and enhanced' editions.

 

It's actually ridiculous that we're nearing a decade of GTA V.

I care more about their decision on game orientation, I know consoles aren't getting raytracing reflected in watered roads, and that looks like the chumpmobile meta will keep going strong.

I wouldn't expect Rockstar to say it like it is (like we all know it is), but the lack of customer access to PS5 / XBSX is the reason for delay. No BS about "Oh, it needs some more polish" - it's all about the pre-order and Day One sales figures. 

 

And let's be serious, I don't think we can even level criticism like that solely at Take Two any more. If Rockstar were the company that they used to be, they'd have been more communicative / honest throughout the last few years. 

 

But TLDR: a delay and no new footage. Big shocker.

Also, just a note for r*. Next time you try that "outside world being explodey and exciting" try to make the NPCs inside react to that explosion that happened just outside the window. Don't want people to think NPCs are lifeless.

Yeah not sure what people expected anyway, it was obvious from the get-go it was just gonna be GTA V PC but on consoles pretty much.

I was kind of surprised about the yellow plates actually, that's far more content than I assumed we were gonna get.

I'm with a lot of other people on this one - didn't see any difference and I'm disappointed af.

 

Even if I could get my hands on a PS5 I'd not care about this. Remaster GTA IV (should've done that instead) or get a move on with GTA VI already.

yeah, this sh*t was a major joke and is just a big disappointment. i feel like rockstar really has turned into something bad.. only caring about money now.

 

don't get me wrong. i know sh*t like red dead 2 was fire, but i didn't even finish it. yes, the world was beautiful. but it just got really boring to me.. it seems too much focus on realism is bad after all. I don't expect gta 6 anytime soon, nor am i really excited about it anymore, knowing what rockstar has become with gta. honestly, they can go disappear for all i care.

When you see what Rockstar did with RDR2 and GTA, GTA 6 will be a flop. Sure it will be sold extremely often again, but it will all get boring very quickly.

I played RDO intensively for 2 weeks on vacation and have no reason to log in today. 

Rockstar is happy about 30 million copies of RD2 sold. But how many play the game? Monthly 3000 players on stream. Wow. 

Rockstar should open their eyes and understand that their past success doesn't apply today.

Mixed feelings, not really seeing much of a graphical upgrade and what i am seeing might just be difference between my graphical settings and the ones used for some of this footage. Honestly pretty surprised its not looking like the rdr2 engine overhaul some of us (myself included) expected. Then again idk if we can rule that out completely either, there's still a small chance this is an actual direct port of all assets (so everything looks the same) and the last few months will be for making nicer assets/settings? im prolly just grasping at straws though...

 

Two things stand out to me as odd & allow me to grasp at straws:

 

- The plates thing, why would that be on so many of the vehicles? if it was just a new plate to buy it would make sense for it to be on 1-2 vehicles, not on ~75% of them? also its the texture of one of the white plates, just yellow, its not actually a new plate texture. This raises a new question, why would there be an issue with such an insignificant old ass feature? why are they 'touching' that feature? Point for either an overhaul of the plates system (yes please!) or issue with plate textures in 'new' engine?? (so point for new engine argument?)

 

- Something seems different about the GTA:O footage, the lighting inside that casino penthouse is looking pretty damn nice for gta5 standards, idk if its just maxed out graphics settings though, if somebody with a rtx6900 or whatever could please make some similar footage that would be nice imo

The whole new engine argument is pretty weak now though, lets be honest. If they're sticking with the engine version i just hope to god they are actually cleaning up the ~8 years of bloat & fixing the many many long-standing bugs & weird performance issues.

Yellow plates?! Yellow... fracking... plates?! Seriously?! That's the only difference?! (At least I haven't noticed anything new) I'm pretty sure people would be more happy if there would be an option to choose plates with funny and interesting inscriptions instead of another color for a plate.  But then again I'm not surprised about it because they won't be the first company which basically improves only graphics in old content and then tries to sell/serve it either as a new game or at least as a DLC. I wouldn't even be surprised if this so called new version would cost around 60$ when it won't be available for free anymore.

Maybe the yellow plates is used in intern so they know wich version they are working on? 

 

You got me worried about that. If the yellow plates is a bug issued by some feature not related that mean it's the same kind of messed up code we have today... Like the recent example of the car export freemode event not showing up if you have smuggler cargo hidden in the menu...

You know, I was thinking about the end where they showed the clip of online with the aircraft being shot down by flying Deluxos and it made me wonder, why would they highlight that aspect if the more recent, less weaponized vehicle laden updates allegedly brought about the highest player numbers and seemingly better overall reception?

The best thing is someone actually looked at the deluxos in slow motion, and no they weren't the one that shot down the jet, they (jet pilot) detonated sticky bomb to blow his jet.

Now that you mention it, that's very underhanded. Because if a deluxo fired a missile, it'd do an immediate 180. They probably thought it'd look jank, and they sort of hid the NPCs so you didn't see them not reacting to such a sight.

 

Smoke and mirrors, what a f*cking joke. New players are in for a lot of disappointment.

Here’s the brutally honest truth: reactions range from the unsurprisingly underwhelmed to the extremely disappointed.

 

I’ve yet to see anyone remotely excited by this.

 

What they are showing doesn’t warrant a trailer. Sure, rerelease the game for new consoles with PC Max graphics from 2015 (that are going to be 7 years old, so hardly cutting edge), but just say “it’s on the shelves next month” when you know it’s shipping to retailers.

 

A Rockstar Trailer was a source of eager anticipation and excitement back in the day.

 

They've rapidly turned one of their best marketing vehicles into a big fat pile of meh.

I was going to write something but I really got lost in my thoughts. I hope the marketing boys are pranking us. This trailer feels rushed and unprofessional, maybe they are showing this, because they have nothing to show at all, and that's why the delay, but still disappointing.
