Let me ask what may sound like a dumb question. I actually posted a similar question a few pages back, but nobody gave me a really good answer other than, lol "ROCKSTAR SUCKS!! Seriously, though, why are we all assuming that just because the one trailer shows only load time and graphical improvements that this is all we're getting with the new version of GTAO/GTAV? With the game being delayed now, I am thinking that it's very possible that this was all Rockstar was willing to show at this time. I honestly cannot, for the life of me, imagine that they are going to release a next-gen version of the current GTA and only give us the most perfunctory upgrades. This isn't to say that my presupposition is right. It may be that this is all we're getting. But if it is, then Rockstar and Take2 will be descending to a new depth of shamelessness. I am hoping that they are bringing a ton of new gameplay ideas and true expansions to GTAV, and that this will at least justify purchasing it again. Otherwise, why bother, right? I mean, I can play GTAV and GTAO on my PS5, it's just the PS4 version. Honestly, with the install base of the XBone and PS4 being as high as it is, and Rockstar really wanting to entice people in the PS5 and Series S/X gen to buy the game yet again, in some cases for the 3rd, 4th, or even 5th time, they had seriously better be bringing a helluva lot more than that to the table, or offer it as a very-close-to-free upgrade for those who own the game on the PS4/XBone already.

Well, there's the fact that PC isn't getting it, for one thing - PC will get the new bonus items/vehicles/whatever, but the lack of a PC upgrade beyond that suggests that there's nothing coming that isn't already part of the PC version. For example, if PC were getting a comparable upgrade patch, I'd wonder if ray-tracing might be coming - but without anything new on PC, I reckon it's more likely just 'PC-equivalent settings on PS5/Xbox Series, maybe some GTAO stuff put into single-player, and that's about it'.

 

Personally, that's all I expected from "E&E", though: PC parity on new consoles, now that there are consoles able to run GTA V at 4K 60fps. Not really worth the upgrade if you already have the game, IMO (and they're having a laugh if they end up pricing it at $60 or higher), but I still think that "E&E" is as much aimed at new players coming into gaming this generation as anyone, and so it's worthwhile for R* to have a 'current gen' version of the game to target those customers. That's why they didn't bother with a free enhancement patch for PS4 Pro/Xbox One X: it's not about boosting performance for existing console players (because most people keep buying/playing the game just fine without), but instead about keeping GTA V on store shelves and in the Top 10 Physical Sales charts, rather than being dismissed as a 'last gen' game and put in the bargain bin.

They knew that the feedback would be bad, the bad trailer, the visual bugs as well as the general fed up. The delay of the release date was obvious, I even mentioned it before, as well as the trailer would probably be a shameful mess. I was right.

One could imagine a thousand things about this delay, but as always, Occam's razor, the simplest explanation is often the best. They want as many people as possible to buy the consoles, and more than anything, to "dilute" the discontent. There are also these remasters (kill me) that seem to be confirmed. Maybe they are trying to make a close release to "dilute" once again. We know what the game looks like now and they have nothing to show.

A delay doesn't make the games better, a realistic release date at the beginning of the project does (don't take us for idiots helps too). I can't figure out what would take so long, what would be a revolution that would make people buy this game again, I have no idea. They just don't have anything.

If you feel they still have things to show, their strategy is working. I would love to be surprised.

I don't know whether I will upgrade. I have played this game now across four consoles. The XBOX 360, XBOX One, XBOX One X and now XBOX Series X. If they don't bring anything considerably new to the table, it isn't worth getting again. I'm fed up of it as it is.

GTA 5 would not be E&E but rather Grand Theft Auto 5 + Los Santos Stories. The single player DLC is the only thing that would make you forget all this mess and these years of famine. A kind of Episode From Liberty City but in Los Santos.

If we eliminate all the jokes about TakeTwo's wallet, the only thing that could be expanded is the story : I'd put the probability of the original trio returning at 15%. 

Why? -> New dialogues need to be recorded and on top of that, the faces need to be motion captured again. Steven looks busy, Ned had some health problems I think and I don't know about Shawn but I think he's busy too.

I also imagine that they would ask for a monster fee with the hindsight and knowing the success of GTA 5.

• A new character could appear, with his own story that takes place at the same time as the original one, the events would be linked, and maybe crossovers. Regarding the character, I think about 45% that it is a woman.
• One of the characters or the main character of GTA6 will be a woman, I'm 80% convinced of that.
• Regarding the story of this single player DLC (yes you read that right), the character could just be a little thug who is embroiled in something that is totally beyond him/her.

We know what the "enhanced" part is now. There is still the "expanded" part, only the story can be "expanded". You might think that the gameplay will be expanded, but it's not possible (imo), the main story of the game remains the same, the gameplay must not change, the missions will be played the same way and therefore, it's not possible to change that without reworking the whole game and the way it was originally thought. However, there are some things that suggest that the speed of vehicles will be increased, the only explanation I can find for this is simply the new SSDs. For those of you who think there are still things to be revealed, this is all I found "probable". If it gives you hope.

I would be happy if they just released all of the beta content that didn't make it to the final release.

Lamar Davis was going to be a playable character, I'd love to see that.

And they should add more missions after each of the endings.

The cut content is coming progressively in GTA Online, at least the vehicles, which makes me think that yes it is possible, the traffic could be updated for the solo, a marketing stunt, "hundreds of new vehicles". Enough to attract a few unfortunates. As for the story, no idea what was really cut. I would like something different. I think it's easier for Rockstar to do something new with a character that doesn't exist yet. Calling in old voice actors doesn't sound easy, the Lester character has already done so much for the online. I miss him so much, I hope to see him again soon. Lately Rockstar introduced too many characters that we forget quickly and that are not so endearing anymore, which makes me think that Jay Klaitz does not want anymore. I really love Agent 14 and Lester.

I've been called out a few times for moaning about Rockstar marketing practices, excessive milking and flogging of dead horses, but surprise surprise, they go and release a no-content trailer and push it even further. This time, fortunately, the community has reacted big time. Well done everyone!

 

Rockstar traditionally keep a very tight lip, so my only logical explanation is that T2 interactive must be running the marketing side of things and not Rockstar themselves, otherwise the incongruous flip between silence and weekly promotions makes no sense!

 

All they had to say was, no news on future updates yet, folks, but we're OK and pushing on with new E&E plans, which will be unfortunately delayed until next spring. Sorry about that, but rest assured the game that you all love will be better than ever!

 

My real feelings? Rockstar don't care who they piss off any more with empty marketing tactics because all they want is to make a buzz, even a negative buzz. Make some noise while saying absolutely nothing!

 

It's our fault for thinking that a company that historically keeps quiet, will suddenly reveal important information through their Newswire and other channels, instead of accepting it as shallow marketing that should simply wash over our heads.

I'm generally philosophical about GTAV / Online, because to be fair, I've had my money's worth out of it in terms of how many hours of timewasting procrastination entertainment that I have had out of it. I think they have maybe got a bit too cheeky this time, and the public can see through this latest go at flogging us the exact same game (again)

I do think that it's very telling that all the E&E videos on social media have been getting a great deal more down-votes than up-votes. Given how fans have been unconditional advocates of GTA over the years, even when the community had their share of complaints, I have never seen officially released GTA content get so much public evisceration before. Rocktar and Take2 can't possibly be happy right now. At least not with regard to the reaction of the GTA community to the first official E&E trailer.

This could be an interesting feature if it was for the two on-line characters, but at this point Rockstar, nobody cares about the single player since there is NO NEW CONTENT for it, and have been the same since 2013.
