Editing Sound Scripts

Hey guys,

 

I apologise if this has already been touched on, but I'm wondering if there is a way to edit the volume, pitch, and even change the directory of a sound through dat files.

 

Basically, I'm wanting to change the volume of the reverse gear whine sound on vehicles without having to ramp the sound physically through Audacity. (It doesn't actually go any louder without clipping).

 

I've noticed the gear whine sound is quiet on some and louder on others - the Albany Emperor for example - all of the gear sounds are very prominent.

 

I'm just wondering if it's some value set in the car's dat file or some other data file somewhere.
