Jammsbro
So far I'm at at Clemen point camp. And every single mission I am doing has another npc or camp member with me. Everything is forcing me to follow someone else. I hoestly can't remember a single mission so far that doesn't involve me doing anything on my own. I know the game is very much on rails and linear when it comes to story missions but it's getting really annoying not being able to do anything at all without following someone else for the entire mission. Add to that all agency has been completely removed. All decisions are removed from us players. You aren't really playing, just following an npc and a series of promts on where to go, stand, what to do... Surely this can't the the way it is for the entire game?? Sadly it is like that throughout the game. It gets even worse in the later chapters where missions are much bigger. You gotta slowly follow people all the time. It's a shame because the story is good. Edited September 1, 2021 by StuntMaster100

I consider this one of the game's strengths. It's a story based game, allow the story to be told. Lemoyne outlaw
yea it stays like that. even in red dead redemption 1 almost all of the missions had you follow someone or someone was with you. i can see how some people may not like it. but i think its okay. i love the dialogue and interactions with other characters. the gta games seem to have a lot more missions where you are alone. i hope you still enjoy they game. its still very good. and there is plenty of stranger missions and side stuff you get to do alone. and of course you can always just free roam around alone too. RDR was not as slow paced as RDR 2. Horses were much faster too compared to RDR 2.

I was telling a friend the other day that even right now I have no idea what the story is. There is no real narrative apart from short sub missions. The entire story seems to be "we are on the run, slowly". There is no motivation, no antagonist, no real reason for anythng to happen. One of the greatest stories in gaming and it can be told with and without other characters. You could have told this exact same story without handcuffing the player to an entire game filled with on rails, follow missions. This is a RDR, not telltale. Yes, personal preference. But I want to play the game, have agency, make desisions, plan, take chances, fail, see what happens. In this game it is "follow X to here, small encounter, something goes wrong, fight, follow X to another location." And at every point in that sequence you have no choices, it simply wait for rockstars promt to tell you what to do, where to go and when to go there. So many people talk about "immersion maaaan", but does anyone really think that people back then walked at a snails pace, moved and did everything in their life like they didn't care? Those people would have been getting on about their business. Rockstar got it totally wrong with the pace of this game. The Artist

Cutter De Blanc
Arthur is also on his own for "A Fork in the Road" I find it interesting that these two story missions are the only ones where he's effectively by himself
Old Man With No Name
This is what i liked about RDR2. They made npcs like super ai alive human. During RDR1 days, i was always thought this game needs this. Because RDR1 done everything has to be as a one man army clint eastwood game. I was already guessing next game will be about the gangs. So thats what RDR2 about. I hate being one man army in the open wolrd games nowadays. So being right hand man of the leader of the gang and spending your time with your buddies a lot is makes this game special for me Edited September 3, 2021 by GroveStGTAV The Artist and ballstorture 1
