simmun
i used to farm cougars in cholla springs heavily some months ago. Now that I've began again the cougar won't spawn. anyone knows why or if there is some place better to farm cougars?
Bi9Daddy68
Good question, and an awesome cougar location of the past. I see quite a few cougars around Beecher's Hope. R* appears to have switched from set spawn sites to multiple or random spawn locations. I believe the game spawns animals as your character enters the area. You are the trigger. I have personally experienced a Pronghorn herd slowly materialize in the distance countless times. I'm sure most of you have seen this yourselves. Krommer
I think they broke a lot of the "always spawn" cougar locations, like that place in Tall Trees with the one resting. I use to go there with the wagon, kill it then drive in a circle down around a bend in the road and it would be respawned when I got back again. I do N/NW of Annesburg for cougar now, along the railroad tracks. There are about 4 places on that route where one may spawn. One is just at the North edge of town near the railroad tracks, one possible is farther along to the North (on the way to the first Wintergreen Berry spawn, by the tracks) a third is more just before you hit the railway bridge over the water, or just after (sometimes the spawn is a black bear there instead, but its sometimes been BOTH), and a fourth is farther long the track/road kind of closer to that "lab" with the tower with the ladder. Whenever the daily is "skin two cougars", I get at least two either going from Annesburg or coming back (hardly ever encounter players, either.) JumpingKentFlash
That legendary cougar in the southern Great Plains doesn’t ever spawn for me anymore.

They moved some of the spawns with one of the last updates(naturalist, or bounty hunter extension). I usually see that cougar just west of its old spawn spot, but I don't spend alot of time down there. The one that used to spawn near the windmill in Great Plains either spawns on the East side of the road near there, or down the hill a few hundred yards to the east of Sean. The cougar that used to come at me from the east side of the tracks heading to Brandywine Drop now always seems to be on the west side, usually at the top of the hill. The panther that used to spawn at the southern end of the woods by Black Belle now spawns closer to Black Belle on the northern side of the woods just a little east of her house. simmun
Apparently I have found a great method of farming cougars: going back and forth between NW and SE Great Plains. That solved my trader issue Bi9Daddy68
FRIDA_KAHLO
Interesting I don't recall seeing them in the plains but it's good to change it up huh! At the peril of being as bad as my Silver Fox hunting jokes, and perhaps of use after your gallop across the plains, well every time I see this post I think of this "cougar farm" down in Saint Denis. Caffeination
Rockstar have been editing spawns of certain animals. There used to be a common spawn of one, just west of the windmill near Blackwater behind Sean’s little camp, now the spawn for that went to the little uninhabited open area to the extreme south of Blackwater. This affects both Online and Singleplayer. They also added a moose spawn by Little Creek, amongst the flower field where the pronghorns roam, but that’s exclusive to Online it seems, and was added during Naturalist. Perhaps the edit to the cougar spawns came in a previous update, and cougars no longer spawn in Bearclaw Camp, which sucks. The only reliable cougar spawn in Great Plains is the northern gate of Beecher’s Hope. Bi9Daddy68
