GTAGuy
I used to have a Voodoo5 and GTA3 lagged like a frikkin slide show on it, like 15fps everywhere... Do you think that VC would run better on it since it's been optimized more than GTA3? Or how about possibly a Voodoo3? Hehe I'm gonna try VC out on my dad's old system. Specs: Amd K62 500mhz FIC motherboard (Ali chipset, not sure about revision, haven't took a good look at the mobo yet) 128mb of PC100 Ram Voodoo 3 3000 16mb AGP No OS as of yet...Prolly will stick XP on it
root.
I would recommend Windows 98 for VC or GTA3 with a Voodoo card. I used to have a Voodoo3, and GTA was unbearable, had to run at 640x480 to get smoothness. My dad hooked me up with a GeForce II lying around and it works great with VC! It's actually playable at 1600x1280, perhaps not the SMOOTHEST, but if I want eyecandy I can put up with it, so it's not real chunky.
GTAGuy
I remember that GTA3 crashed with everyone that had a voodoo3..but I think they fixed that on VC...cuz the revamped the engine and all..Im gonna get me some 3rd party drivers for that thang and see how well it handles VC I love stress testing old systems... root.
GTA Vice City says it refuses to run anything under 32megs, so you never know.
Paulie
You will probably get texture problems with voodoo cards. I had a Voodoo Banshee in my second pc but I changed it to gf3.
shampoo173
I bought GTA3 Vice City only recent and it means a big disappointment for me because I have a voodoo 5 (and people who read the readme) 3dfx Voodoo 5 video cards: While Grand Theft Auto: Vice City does run on Voodoo 5 video cards, the age of the drivers means that there are minor visual artifacts that cannot be corrected, and so we do not support this chipset, or previous 3dfx chipsets. Anyway I have a voodoo5 5500 AGP and GTA Vice city runs very good!!! And it runs much faster then the original GTA3! BUT when textboxes appear (like when getting into a cab for the first time). the text appears and after less then a second disappears leaving behind a black box. So I cannot read assignments, hints and directions :s. Also a Mission failed or stunt bonus just flashes once on my screen. I have tried everything, like overclocking my 3Dcard, setting some Direct 3D settings used the 1.1 patch but that doesn't do a thing either. Also the other graphics are great, nothing wrong with them. Anybody knows what to do about this issue ? Btw to people with a voodoo 5 you can find a nice tools to make your voodoo run faster it's called "V.Control" makes it run faster then a GForce 2 64MB . You can find it here: http://www.3dfxzone.it/koolsmoky/ If I'm not allowed to post the link, sorry, mods please edit.
