Karin Sultan RS Classic trade price already unlocked?!

Checked discounts and discovered that I already have a trade price unlocked for Karin Sultan RS Classic.  Am I the only one who got it already without unlocking it through LSCM reputation levels?

I'm not over level 75.  I still have trade prices to unlock yet this one is unlocked already despite that car just came out today and I wasn't even at LSCM at that moment.

You can unlock trade prices for cars not yet released (dripfeed cars).

Really? That's interesting because last time when I read multiple articles about unlocking trade prices through LSCM reputation levels they all said the same thing that players can't unlock trade prices for cars which aren't released yet.

They unlock at random despite being unreleased.

Pretty sure those articles were wrong because I've unlocked trade prices for unreleased cars while not having unlocked for all released at that point

At level 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 you unlock a random trade price for 10 cars released with the update and then at level 45, 50, 55, 65, 70 and 75 you unlock a random trade price for 1 of the 7 dripfed cars. After level 45 it is random which of the dripfed trade prices you unlock and even if you get to level 70 right now you could unlock the trade price for next weeks car even if you don't have the Sultan Classic price unlocked.

100% wrong. I'm level 100 on my main and 75 on my second character and everytime a new car comes out I already have the trade price unlocked. Don't read articles for GTA info they are quite often wrong. If you need info come to the forum where people actually play the game and know things about it and when someone does give wrong info there is usually always someone there to correct them. Even GTA Youtubers are more reliable if you find one that reads the forums and actually checks for themselves to make sure the info is correct.

Even that info got already deemed wrong. GTT trade price unlocked here at rep lvl 50. I am not the only person with unlocks out of that mentioned rule. It's completely random.

I think it's weighted so that the Day 1 cars have a higher chance of unlocking for levels 5-40, and then drip-feed cars from 45-75.

In my case, at least, it followed the general rule: two characters, both unlocked all the Day 1 cars from levels 5-40. Got one to 53, so that should be two of the drip-feed cars, but it's taken until the Sultan RS Classic to get one (so the other is the Cypher or Previon, obviously).

What you all are telling me explains why at first to me it looked like I'm not unlocking any trade prices when actually I unlocked them for cars which aren't released yet. (I just didn't know that before and assumed it's some kind of a glitch) I'll try to keep in mind that articles about this stuff not always are 100% correct.

Thank you all for explaining all this to me! I really appreciate it.

I was level 44 at the end of the first week, and had already unlocked the trade prices for all day-1 release vehicles. I figured this way I would get the trade price for the Comet S2 at level 45 right when it releases. Instead I started to unlock unreleased dripfeed vehicles. I got the trade price for the S2 at level 75.

So it's likely that after the dripfeed is over, the unlocks are strictly random. But during the dripfeed it seems that released dripfeed vehicles were held back, i.e. you'd continue unlocking day 1 release vehicles or unreleased dripfeed vehicles. I believe this to be a programming error because the sensible thing would be to unlock day-1 release vehicles or released dripfeed vehicles first. It's plausible someone simply messed up the the two dripfeed categories.

Makes me wonder how they'll handle things if they add more vehicles to the Tuners class:

1. Just skip trade prices (but then that makes getting rep somewhat pointless in the long run, unless you're really desperate to own all those clothes)

2. Lock the trade prices to levels 80, 85, 90, etc., picking up from the current unlocks - but that'll only be of any significance to newer players, since most current players will have those unlocked by then

3. Lock the trade prices to arbitrarily higher levels (like 100, 124, 150 - or worse, 100, 200, 300, etc.)

4. Lock them to the next multiple of 5 you've yet to unlock - so if you're rep level 76, you'll get one at 80, if you're at level 129 you'll get one starting from 130, etc.

The logical route would be Solution #4: pick up the 'every 5 levels' from wherever you currently are - but it might not be possible for R* to do something that dynamic, depending on how they've set the system up. It might be they have to put the unlock criteria for specific levels (i.e. 'level 55 unlocked = random trade price') - in which case, might as well say "f*** it" and not bother with trade prices (Solution #1), rather than doing the dick move of Solution #3.

...they're totally going to do #3, aren't they? :p

That might be the case. Between rep lvl 5-40 i had unlocked mostly day 1 cars with two exceptions. The GTT and another one. I think it was the Warrener HKR. Need to take a look into my notes somewhere laying around on my desk.

From a programming perspective it shouldn't be too difficult to add items to an already existing list (or empty, if you got em all) and have it randomized like bunker research where you unlock something every 5 levels. I'm guessing R* programmers have a better understanding of data structures and algorithms than I do.

Looking at area war, I think this is it which is a shame really.

I hope not....🥺🤔 It's already bad enough that some liveries can be unlocked only at higher levels like 184 there's absolutely no need to do the same or something similar with trade prices.
