smg9779
my game freezes whenever i play at 1600x1200x32 only after about a minute or two while driving a car. my computer specs are pretty low but the same thing happened in GTA3. I have a p3 700, 256 mb ram, gf3 ti 200 128 mb w/ win98se. the game runs at about 25-30fps at 1600x1200x32 and draw distance at max before it freezes. i don't think its because my hardware is too slow. It does fine at 16 bit color, its just at 32 bit that it freezes. does anyone have any ideas why? thanks. steve p.s. not bad for a p3 700 huh? T_Jochum24
Man, i really don't know this one at all but if i were you.. I would be really happy that it will run like it does at any other resolution and not worry to much on just that one.

root.
Believe it or not I can run it even higher on my P3 700, 256 megs ram, GeForce II with tolerable speeds. Crazy... I'll post some fraps and pictures if you don't believe me, I'm just too lazy to do it right now.

The first thing I would do would be turn your resolution down. Below a constant 30 fps would be unacceptable to most people here, you need to treat yourself to some smooth gameplay. Yes, it is becasue your hardware is too slow. mathematically it looks like this: (new, 2003 game) + (old comp) + (old vid card) + (high settings) = FREEZING. T_Jochum24
very ture,,, and yet i still don't know how in the heck he can get it to run so good at that kind of a resolution with his comp.
Paulie
Yes, seems odd to me to . I guess this guy doesn't play much games, if he think everything should run on 1600x1200 with every pc. That's what the resolution changing is for, so the low-end pc's can play the game too and the high-end one's can play it with full detail. And if you think it's the 32bit textures, then just take it back to 16bit. They DO slow down the pc too . There is no other solution in this case.
