Thexzo
When i play Gta V my game stutters alot its unplayable, i dont get why this is happening because nothing should be causing this. I've tried fixes but none have worked yet, if you have had the same issue before and fixed it please let me know how to fix it My specs: GPU: RTX 3070 CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x 16 Ram The stuttering isnt small either its like for 0.25 seconds or so really noticable i also get the small ones, those i can stand but not the big ones. Rotorhead359
Common issue with GTA V on modern high end hardware. This same issue has happened for me too, and took some research to fix. Don't let the graphics fool you, GTA V's engine is antique, it was designed to run at 30fps on 7th gen consoles. (Xbox360, PS3) It is not optimized for modern hardware. Your PC can probably push GTA V over 180fps, which is where the engine breaks down. (frame drops, stutters, freezes) The game just doesn't want to run at high framerates. When GTA V released on PC, there was no PC hardware that could push it that high, so Rockstar didn't think it would be a problem. You can use a frame limiter to keep your fps below 180 (I use 120 in RivaTuner) Edited August 22, 2021 by AirWolf359 KatanaDV20, ddarko12 and Thexzo 2
ddarko12
I've got an Asus G14 with a Ryzen 9 and this thing still stutters. The game just runs like sh*t on a quality hardware, sad but true. Rotorhead359 and Thexzo 1

Ash_735
Yeah anything above 120 starts to show issues (RDR2 can go up to 144). So just lock it to 120fps. Rotorhead359
RamboRyza
I have found a solution to this issue, regardless of the frame rate. I have investigated this issue for months now, and have tried absolutely everything from OS reinstalls, tested RAM, CPU, GPU, removed overclocks, changed BIOS settings, to nVidia settings. The solution I found, which has stopped all stutter at any frame rate, is to RESET THE REFRESH RATE ON YOUR MONITOR. Regardless of whether or not you run vSync, go into Windows, change your monitor refresh rate to something other than the default (i.e. mine runs at 60, so I updated it to 59hz, saved it, changed it back to 60hz, resaved. I found that after all my investigation, this is what has finally stopped my stutter on GTA V, with settings on low or high, doesn't matter. The only reason I can think of, is that because GTA V is optimized for lower frame rates, it requires a 'refresh of the refresh rate' to jolt it into acknowledging Windows refresh rate. I really hopes this helps some people out there, as this is quite clearly, according to forums, an issue which has made this game unplayable for many. Uncannygranda
I heard that there are a couple of mods that might improve your gameplay, in my case, I have done that and it removed the lag.
