Modder keeps finding same person and mods him

Hello!

I'm asking this for a friend as we're not entirely sure what's going on here and we're hoping to find some answers as we're talking about a 500+ level account that's consistently being terrorized by the same modder.

So, this modder isn't a friend nor a friend of a friend and isn't in our crew.
He keeps finding my friend nonetheless anywhere between 15 and 30 minutes of being online.
This modder joins the session my friend is in and mods him causing my friend to blow 'himself' up with bombs and kills everyone consistently in the session with my friends name in killed popup notifications.
This continues until the game of my friend crashes.

What is going on here? We suspect now that this modder found a way to find my friend in an unusual way. Reinstalling the game doesn't help nor does changing name. And my friend can play normally until this modder joins the session and triggers the bombing again.

What is going on? And how can we solve this problem?

Thank you!

Welcome to GTA Forums; sorry you've had to deal with the nonsense on PC. To respond, there isn't a whole lot that you can do, but I'll refer you to my post and link it here:-

This is what I'd said there in case the page doesn't load or whatever:-

"

There isn't much you can do against someone who wants to join you over and over and honestly my "solutions" aren't even ideal. You've got a few options:-

1) let him keep on doing that stuff and don't challenge it - don't rise to it or answer back, just let it happen. Eventually they will get bored and move on to someone else or give up entirely;
2) only play in invite only / closed friend / closed crew sessions with trusted individuals, some of which may be able to help the situation by voting to kick the malicious modder if and when they enter the session;

3) using the Windows Defender Firewall to block the outbound 6672 port (more info on various sites, probably best to google that) - this will mean that you can play in solo public sessions that nobody else can join even if they're using mods;
4) similar to 3, but using a program to automate the process, like Session Sweeper or Guardian or alternatives;

5) the least preferable and one that I don't advise nor do myself, is running cheats / mods to protect yourself online.

Regardless of what you choose to do, you may be able to prevent him seeing when you are online, to some extent at least. Press the HOME key when you've got the game loaded to bring up the Social Club interface and click on the settings cog in the top-right, then click settings. In here, click on the "Game Settings" on the left side and choose "Me Only" for the "Presence Visibility" setting.
This does have the knock-on effect of you appearing offline to friends and might not prevent cheaters from following you around, but it may help.

Sadly I mostly play the game in solo public sessions on PC as a result of the nonsense that usually prevails.

"

Thanks Gaffa! I came back to add more info to the problem, and from what I can tell: None of your solutions will work, sadly.  But I hope this additional information will clear things up and bring us to a solution.

- So, VPN seemed to work for a while. I think he set it somewhere in America or something (We're from the Netherlands) but this was causing enormous lag for me, so he shut it down which instantly brought back the problem.

- Coming online he started to explode everyone around him right away, including himself. So it's really not playable at all, for anyone in the session, because everyone gets killed without a break and after a minute or so the whole session crashes.
- He shows for friends only, which means only I and a few trusted people can find him. They're absolutely okay, and I don't think the modder was following him this time because I saw nobody join after my friend joined.
- He reset his IP: This didn't solve anything.
- He set his VPN locally, but the problem persisted.

He's now gonna start a new character in the hope we can gather more information (see if it's character bound or account bound). If anyone has more insights this would be great, after all this is a 500+ character that's been owned for roughly 6 years...

Invite only does seem to work, although that isn't the way we intend to play the game. We're still not entirely clear if this modder is 24/7 online and keeps following him, or if it's some hack or virus or whatever (account/character connected issue).

Oke so, we managed to play for roughly 2 hours in a private session with VPN on belgium. We were in the middle of a mission when we heard the explosions again (but didnt see them) and the game crashed.

The Modder just save his RID(R* ID) into a file where the modder just can join with one button the only thing u can do its report the modder
well this its what i think he is doing

Thanks, does that mean he can log in right from his desktop where my friend is?

It means that the modder can be notified every time you / your friend loads the game up, and / or that they can join your session no matter which session you are in.

If there are 2 of you in an Invite Only session, have you and your friend not tried voting to kick the player through the pause menu?

Hey Gaffa, thanks, I understand now. No we didnt, the first time it happened he would join my friend consistently, but since that we never saw him join again. So he isnt physically in our session or he manages to cloak himself or something. We dont see him join, leave, or be part of the session, which makes it even more frustrating and confusing.
