Which characters in GTA had the most tragic fate?

I mean, he was probably responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people including feeding someone into a trash compactor alive and torturing people, so he's pretty far down the feeling sorry for list.

So was Dwayne lol, he was a crack kingpin in the 90's. I bet he killed way more people than Ray.

Idk while Dwayne might have killed more people than Ray, I’m pretty sure the people Ray killed were directly killed by him as opposed to dying via drug use nawhimean?

 

Its an interesting topic tho, which character did the most damage indirectly

But as a crack kingpin imagine how many people he also killed directly, such as rival drug dealers, cops, police informants.

Ilyena Faustin.

One of the rare characters in the series not to be a criminal of some kind and rarer still didn’t meet an untimely death which would’ve ended her suffering.

 

Even before Faustin’s death I always felt really sorry for her with the way he would renounce her religious beliefs and I imagined she was probably a victim of abuse when Faustin had one of his rage fits and she couldn’t do anything about it.

 

After he dies and we see her again in the random encounter she seems even worse off than before. Poor woman.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Marnie Allen yet, given all the GTA IV characters that've been mentioned so far. Sure, her story may not be as tragic as others, but when you stop to think about it; it's pretty damn dark!

She's a young girl who moved to Liberty City in hopes of becoming a star, instead became a drug-addicted junkie that prostitutes herself for money to feed her habit, she has Niko save her and get her back to her parents place....

Only for her to join the Epsilon Cult about 5 years later

It's not so much as sad as it is dark

late reply but when compared to many other characters, Ray's a saint and always keeps his word to those loyal to him. In a world full of lowlifes like in the GTAverse I'd actually consider him one of the more noble characters, even more so than Phil actually. Sure, he's very sleazy, he tortured people, set examples of numerous others, but he had justifiable reasons for doing that, plus you'd have to do that to keep your status and reputation in that life.

 

In some ways he's like the mafioso version of Bodie from The Wire. They're good earners, they don't draw too much attention to themselves, they treat their guys and associates right and most importantly, followed a strong code, no sleeping around with the don's wife like what Phil's doing, but ultimately got screwed over by the people and circumstances around them, which in Ray's case, getting ripped off by Johnny and being called a rat by Jimmy. There's sort of a tragic element to that.

 

Also, like Bodie, he went out like a champ. Rather than beg for his life when Niko comes at him he engages him in a firefight even with all odds stacked against him. That's pretty admirable if you ask me.

Johnny K. Yeah, his death overall was really dumb and had no purpose other than "Guys, look how BADASS Trevor is!", but when you think about it for a sec:

 

His gang fell apart, went through betrayals, lived in a run-down house at the end of the game, he fell back in love with his junkie of a girlfriend who was no good for him, he and the rest of his friends got addicted to meth because of her, he turned into a pussy, and he got killed because of all this.

 

At least with Niko he still has his cousin, friends, all his enemies gone for good, and a sh*tload of cash.
