Jamwes
I thought we could get a thread going to discuss the auto shop contract missions. I’ll kick things off by listing some tips and tricks that I’ve learned. What are some things you’ve learned or anything else you want to discuss about these missions? General Tips: Use a car with louvers over the back window for an extra layer of protection. Enemies will not be able to shoot through it. CEO spawned helicopters speed up travel times for the missions. It will also spawn at your location after the finale so you can quickly fly back to the auto shop for the next job. When escaping bad guys, shoot for the tires. They will veer out of control. The Bank Contract Thermal Charges: The bag is on the ground. You can drive in and out easily without shooting anyone. Easier in a car with bulletproof windows. Signal Jammers: If solo, just skip this mission by changing sessions. It would only keep the cops off for 1 or 2 banks out of 6. Finale: Use a car with louvers on the back and drive through the bank’s front door. You can get in and out of the car without getting shot. The Data Contract Safehouse Location: Learn where the Barrage spawns so you can park in front of it and kill the driver when it spawns in. Defenses: If solo, just skip this mission by changing sessions. They aren’t needed because the final is easy by just camping in the house and shooting bad guys as they come in. Finale: There are 2 rail guns in the bunker across at least three locations; near the HD in the warehouse area, on a bench near the soda machines in the workshop area, or on a bench near the Barrage. The Superdollar Deal Tracking Device: You can do this without a fight or setting off alarms. For the two locations outside of the hanger approach from the Cargobob side. You can take a picture of the trailer just outside of where the guards patrol. To place the tracker, there are two guards you’ll have to dodge around from this side and you do have some cover to hide behind. For the hanger location, go in on the right side and hug the wall to avoid being seen by the guy crouched at the Cargobob. Then follow the right wall and get behind the shelves with oil tanks for cover, sometimes I have to jump to get behind it. Again, just avoid the last guard to take the picture and place the tracker. Virus Software: I just fly over the hacker, alert him so he drives faster, then follow to his home and kill everyone inside. Finale: This is a great one for using a personal weaponized vehicle. I love using my weaponized Tampa for it. Be careful because the Barrage seems to be explosion proof. I think the “correct” way to do this is to kill the guys in the Barrage and then steal it to attack the truck. The Prison Contract Inside Man: After Lil’ Dee does his business, just drive over to the Mission Row police station. You don’t have to lose/kill the pursuers to drop Lil’ Dee off. Access Point: Using a Phantom Wedge makes this easy. Just keep my snack menu up and drive in, hitch up, and drive away. Finale: You can go to a garage to get an Armored Kuruma, but I don’t think it’s necessary. Just Keep your snack menu open while driving through the prison. The Agency Deal Entry Point: The water company truck you can steal takes the same path. It’s easy to get ahead of it to kill the driver. Or, just kill everyone anyway since where you’re going next is underground and you’ll lose the cops by the time you’re done with it. Security Pass: Use your favorite homing missile armed flying vehicle. Blow everything up. Kill the guy before he gets in the car and drives away. Finale: Make sure to eat your snacks before leaving. There are too many cops with guns waiting for you on the escape. The E.C.U Job Train Inventory: Use the disguise for an easy run through the ship. Schedule: You can park on the side of the train to take pictures without being seen by the guards. Finale: Use the Sharpshooter weapon loadout for the stickey bombs. Place three bombs in the same spot in the middle of the tracks. The explosion is big enough to get the brakes on each side. Set them off when the train’s front is over the bombs. There is a small delay for the bombs going off, so this will get all four brakes. You won’t have to chase the train. The Lost Contract Lab Locations: The auto shotgun is great for killing everyone in the Lost building. Transport Method: Use a Phantom Wedge! Just fly to the drop off in Harmony and call your Wedge there. If you don’t have a Wedge, there is one being guarded by security guards near where you kill the guy. You can steal that one, but it does call the cops on you. Finale: You can use an Armored Kuruma from a personal garage to make this simple. Without it, as long as you have louvers and drive backwards at the labs the gunfights should be tolerable. The LSCM Wingman could be helpful for this one. awesomefoot, Kremita, BJBooBoo and 14 others 16
awesomefoot
I've been doing The Bank Contract repeatedly. I'll add the following tips. Thermal Charges: This is an item you don't need to get out of a car to pick up, just drive over it. So Armored Kuruma makes it very easy. Flying cars make it quick, especially Grapeseed. Grand Senora has a building nearby so plan your approach with the right angle. Signal Jammers: You're spot on, just skip the mission. I do invite only so I back out and log back in the game. Pretty sure you'd need 4 people playing to bother with it since nobody's getting to F in 2 minutes. Finale: I have Strawberry and the best order is D, E, C, B, A, F. Didn't know you could drive into the bank, I'll have to try it. For solo, I swing my car around so the driver's door is facing the bank door and start running as soon as I exit the car to keep the door open. I then knockout any customer standing inside the bank since they'll run out and get stuck on the car. I always take Heavyweight load out for the shotgun. The safest way to save armor is to just stay inside the bank and shoot the door open and then shoot a cop or two and jump in the vehicle and take off. For bank B, I believe, you can drive up on the onto the little pedestrian ramp and park. For F you can pull onto the little sidewalk between the metal poles. When finishing the job, losing the cops is pretty easy if you offroad so you're far enough away from the roads that the cops will see you. Then just avoid the choppers. Just west of the airport is my favorite area. There's a decent sized open area with a dirt road to the north. If they start pinching you, you can head a little north to those jagged hills west of Sandy Shores which is a very big area. (I avoid the area west of the prison since cops will sometimes drive really off road through there for some reason (I guess looking for prison escapees.) Astafjevs
Like this thread. I really enjoy these missions, at least for now. I'm sure the novelty will wear off. $160,000 or so for 25 mins work - so approximately $320,000 per hour - is not bad pay really. I repeat four of them for variety - bank contract, agency deal, superdollar deal, ECU job. I find the data contract just takes too long as a solo player, and for what I think is the lowest payout. Have to be careful in the Merryweather bunker, then you have to be careful again at the warehouse where Schwartzman is at. All adds up to a long time spent on this mission because you can't rush through the NPC killing. One thing worth mentioning is that the ECU job is the highest paying contract so far (haven't done the Lost MC contract yet), even though the Superdollar deal has the biggest figure on the board. Sessanta and KDJ don't take a cut for the ECU job, so you get 100% of the payout. The Superdollar deal you end up losing $18,000 so it ends up being a worse paying mission ($172,000 vs. something like $166,000) Jamwes and C-Rhee
GTAKid667
I haven't got around to trying out The Lost Contract yet but I've been really enjoying these contracts. I've done them all a few times but mostly stick to The Bank Contract, E.C.U. Job, Superdollar Contract and Prison Contract. I agree with the above that The Data Contract can take a while for a solo player, but I also tend to give The Agency Deal a miss because I find the enemies inside the IAA Facility can be a little brutal and a few times I've completely missed the shovel when looking for the recipe I also completely missed that KDJ and Sessanta weren't taking a cut on the E.C.U. Job the first couple of times I played through it, but since realising that I've been doing it much more often whenever it comes up on the board. While not necessary I also tend to jump in an Armored Kuruma on the finale for this and The Superdollar Deal because I have it at a property close to my Auto Shop in Burton and practically take no damage using it. The Bank Contract I've also completed a lot and I find that the cops don't really cause much of a trouble at all, you just need to park close to the entrance and in a few locations take out the customers inside the bank so they don't get stuck on the open car door (although on a couple of occasions they've ended up taking the cops bullets, so that works too). God-eater
Good thread. Here's a snip from a post of mine in Help & Support regarding the first mission bug in the Lost Contract. The bug itself, i think, can be circumvented by grabbing the meth lab locations then the explosives, and not dying. Well, one bug, anyway. The one where the mission won't start is what it is - if you get it, you can only relog and cross your fingers. Since the bug only stops us from making money I imagine R* will get around to fixing it shortly before the heat death of the universe. As for the finale: The Lost Contract finale is a cuuuuuuuuuuunt. Standard headshot-only, hyper-aimbot AI, but the fact that they have shotties & ARs means charging in on foot is death. You also get a cartoonish level of Lost rolling up on bikes - non-stop, infinite respawns that are replaced as soon as you kill them; it is literally "shoot a lab guard, turn around and shoot the backup, shoot a lab guard, turn around and shoot the backup, repeat". This job is definitely not solo-friendly. It's doable, but I'd have to say it's the toughest gig of the Auto Shop Robberies yet. If we weren't crippled by piss-weak loadouts it would be easier, but we are so it's not. My advice is avoid frontal assaults (head in from the rear, try to not have roads behind you), get in & out as fast as you can (to the point where I might even suggest just driving right up to the lab door & getting out of your car as close to the corona as possible, if not right on it) and use snacks & explosives liberally. Like I said, I've only done it the once, but I don't really see this one getting much easier with practice - the AI is just way too over-the-top. Truth be told, I think the best way to do this one is with a full crew - of course, the average randtard will be as useless as usual, but they'll stop a few bullets and can hopefully distract the Lostinators long enough for you to get into the labs & plant the bombs (assuming that they even arrive when you do and demonstrate some level of competence & coordination, which is unlikely - you know, on account of GTA having the stupidest playerbase that has or will ever exist). All that said, with a team of 4 cohesive friends on the mic, this mission would be awesome & fun - one of the best, even. Yeah I set up 4 and then got bored and sat around for 5+ minutes since I didn't feel like getting A and F so that part felt doable. I meant it feels pointless unless you're doing the finale with 4 people. Finale wise solo I've never gotten from D to E and out of E in time without the cops getting alerted. It does feel doable though, I'd be a few seconds off. I just don't see how even with 3 people that someone's getting from E to F or A to F within the 2 minutes, nor can one player rob 3 banks undetected. BeatsDown
Speedrun Strats The Bank Contract Thermal Charges: Land Hydra outside Auto Shop. Use speed glitch to go faster. Land on goods, fly off, parachute out down to Auto Shop. Signal Jammers: Start mission, find new lobby, start finale. Finale: Best location is shop near train tracks/drainage for D, E, C, B, A, F. Fully drive into doors at D, E, B, A to glitch out/in car faster. As you arrive at F, call in diversion and Wingman to help distract cops. If 2 or more players, A player drives to Ammo Nation en route to F to see if red car is there, meaning final drop off. If not there, it’s at barn. The Data Contract Safehouse Location: Kill driver with minigun. Defenses: Start mission, find new lobby, start finale. Finale: Drive to garage to collect Mk2. Learn spawn locations, equip armour/snacks during driver animations if needed. As you arrive at Avi, call in Setup and collect minigun. Stay on foot for most part, using Oppressor to take out vehicles and Buzzards. If you run out of missiles, use minigun. The Superdollar Deal Virus Software: Call Ron/Simeon for a job before starting. Kill hacker straight away, accept job and back out to lose cops, fly to location.Tracking Device: Call in Terrorbyte as you arrive at Zancudo. Mk2 Missile everyone and take photo from cover. Fly off to Terrorbyte. As soon as you’re in, find new lobby and start finale. Finale: Mk2, missile convoy then MOC. 6 missiles for Barrage, park on blue circle. Collect Dollars, escape. If you're really cool you can jump off your Mk2 at the end to hit the yellow circle. The Prison Contract Inside Man: Ideally want Lil Dee near LSC. Drive straight to police station, drive back to auto shop. Job done. Access Point: Phantom Wedge Finale: Solo: Drive to hill overlooking prison and jump in over fence. Park car next to bus doors so Lil Dee glitches out faster. Call in Diversion when 1.5 miles away from drop off. Co-op: One gets Vigilante, one gets Mk2. Mk2 kills prisoners, Vigilante kills bus driver, collects Lil Dee. Finale done in 4 mins 30. The Agency Deal (best as a 2-player) Entry point: One person photographs blueprints, host Mk2’s it to IAA door to photograph it. Security Pass: Blueprint guy flies to Sandy Shores area, blows everyone up, call in Hydra, flies to shop, crashes into ground outside, host collects goods and delivers. Finale: Hustler loadout. Learn digging locations. The ECU Job Train Inventory: Mk2 to front of ship for photo, kill everyone at back for cutting saw. Schedule: Take two quick photos of train and brakes and send. Blow up enemies at station, first-person up the stairs (you may want to park Hydra at quarry), fly back. Finale: Mk2 with just 2 missiles to train will stop it. Try and get it before bridge or wait till after bridge. Missiles surrounding enemies. The Lost Contract (best as 2-player) Lab Location: There are two locations, but I’ve only ever had one spawn in 30+ attempts. Be CEO. Mk2 to clubhouse and call in BST. Kill everyone, escape. If 2-player, they open safe, kill everyone, leaves. Host collects goods and delivers. Transport Method: Player waits near Elysian Island for two spawn locations, takes photo. Host flies Hydra (parked outside ready) to Harmony and calls in Phantom Wedge. If solo, have Hydra waiting near Elysian Island. When delivered, as 2-player, host quits and partner invites to auto shop. Takes 35 secs. If solo, can job warp if you have a created race outside, or start new lobby. Edit: If you don't have Phantom Wedge, a truck is programmed to spawn at the drop-off location, so fly there and steal it. Finale: Mk2 to locations. First-person when in lab. Phantom Wedge trailer to location. Already have Strats for Union Depository that need testing when it’s released. God-eater
Here's a tip for The Superdollar Deal that doesn't seem to be getting mentioned: instead of heading up the Great Ocean Freeway (west coast), head up the Senora Freeway. This acheives two things: 1. You'll catch the Valkyrie on the ground. Pull over in front of where it's grounded (north side of Dead Man's Curve at Paleto Cove), climb on top of your car & put a sniper round thru the pilot's face. You don't have to kill the gunners, but there's no reason not to. Anyway, it's an easy way to have one less thing to worry about. 2. It puts you in front of the convoy. Head round the turn, pull over & you can snipe out the Squaddie crews pretty easily. If one makes it to you, hunker down next to your car & drop them with your SMG. If they bail, try to shoot out their tires before you give chase - pretty much takes them out of the equation as they'll be driving on rims. Bugger it, while I'm on it... For the truck itself, put your stickies on the front of the trailer & set them off all at once. The concussion will hit the truck like the fist of god & might make it jackknife or even crash in a place it can't get out of. Just makes things easier. Incidentally, the truck's health depends on how many players there are. Solo, your 5 stickies will knock it down to about 25% health. With 4 players, they'll barely dent it. Probably goes without saying the job is easier solo, as randoms will not only make the truck tougher, but they'll almost certainly f*ck up & die, taking their stickies to spectator mode with them. Hilarious anecdote: did this gig with a buddy the other day, and explained the whole sticky placement thing. So, 10 stickies on the front side of the trailer. We set them off, f*cking truck flipped completely over onto its roof. Now, this eventually destroyed the truck & we had to restart, but the checkpoint got triggered so we started at the stopped truck. No Barrage, no choppers, no backup. So, not only did we laugh our asses off, but the mission was cake. Quick word about using non-Tuner PV's in finales: not to take away from @BeatsDown's excellent speedrun post, but you all know damn well that R* is gonna patch that sh*t at some point. Probably best to not get used to it. Plus, since time's not really a factor during these jobs, the only advantage to speedrunning is making money slightly faster; lucrative as they may be, the Auto Shop Robberies are still nothing compared to a solo Cayo run, so we're not doing ASR's for money, we're doing them for fun. Take your time, enjoy the view, smell the roses. Besides, can we not have just one thing in this game that isn't infected by the disease that is the Op Mk II? I had an easier time solo with the Lost mission than the Agency Deal. The trick is to have louvers on the back of your car. Stay in your car with the back towards the bad guys and shoot the lab guards. Watch the minimap to see if any helpers arrive and try to get you from the front of your car. I agree that this mission is very tough. The first time I barely got through it. The second time I remembered about the louvers and had an easier time. The third time I just used my armored Kuruma and it was simple. lol 8 hours ago, Moth said: there are at least two locations for the wedge to spawn. Not sure if there's a second location for it but for me it was near the bridge that leads to Vagos turf. There's three patrol guards by it with a parked Merryweather Dilettante. For whatever reason, the Phantom Wedge was unmarked on the map. I only noticed it because I was on the broomstick and it auto-locked onto the guards. Thankfully I didn't blindly shoot them since they were close enough to blow it up. That said for speed runs it's definitely not the best. I had to lose the cops and also the Lost shot out two tires on the passenger's side making it a pain to drive especially with them trailing me. It did come in handy for the finale, having an easy time turning around to shoot Lost on my tail without really watching the road. You give R* far more credit than I do. I believe the only reason it's doable right now is because they've used the same access coding you get on Contact Missions, and as usual didn't think it through or test it enough to catch the loophole. Just seems odd to me that in a series of missions centered around the Tuner update that R* would allow us to completely eliminate the Tuners. I mean, they went to the trouble of forcing garbage loadouts on us - why do that then allow us to use Oppressors, Deluxos, Vigilantes, Toreadors, etc? Kind of defeats the purpose of the loadouts (which is to limit our firepower). We'll see, I guess - I'm certainly not saying I know for a fact what R* will do, but historically they've removed stuff like this (eg the Kuruma trick in Pac Standard), although in some cases it takes years. They just don't like it when we find ways to make easy money. And let's face it, armed vehicles make these jobs laughably easy. Perhaps it was deliberate, to get us doing ASRs instead of spamming Cayos, or to encourage players to climb the triple-paywall to the Op Mk II since the Skillbike is probably the biggest driver of Shark Card sales. Lest we forget, no matter what GTA is to you or me, to R*/T2 it is nothing more than a revenue stream, and we are just cattle. My point is, I don't believe for a second anything they do is driven by altruism or any concern about our entertainment - just bang for their buck, ie maximum profit for minimum effort. I wouldn't be surprised if they patched it out. But, it's a small thing and these mission don't make as much as a true heist, so I wouldn't be surprised if they left it in. I felt the same way with the Bikers update. There is no reason to use motorcycles for any of that content. My group joked that MC stood for Military Club. El Zodape
One thing regarding louvers, not every car has louvers with a proper hitbox that stops bullets. Both Dominator's louvers aren't solid and you'll get shot anyways (ironically, the original 2013 Dominator's louvers are actually bulletproof, but it's not a tuner so it doesn't matter). The only tuner car I know that has solid louvers is the Jester RR. Haven't tested the rest of the vehicles. Does it have to be a stand-alone garage or can you use an apartment garage?

I use Alta since it's near my Strawberry auto-shop. Jamwes and Taterman

Aquamaniac
Has anybody managed to spawn a Docktug for either the Prison Contract, Lost Contract or Velum prep? During the 2nd Lost Contract prep you can enter the airbase without triggering a wanting level (at least with the Sparrow) and then steal a Barracks-Semi, worked with both my characters, but I'm somehow obsessed to complete a prep or mission with a Docktug. Astafjevs
Just did the Lost contract. It's definitely the toughest contract. I ended up just getting my MkII, and even with that it can be challenging. The NPCs are so accurate and using such powerful weapons that I was close to death even on the MkII - had to fly away and recover a couple of times. Then I ran out of missiles on the last meth lab and had to go to Stab City and fight through that properly. Actually think an armoured Kuruma would be better for this, if only for that final bit. awesomefoot
