I've been playing this game a long time and have been very close on many occasions, but I finally got what I think was my first perfect score of 300 earlier in the year against Carmen:

I think it’s like 200 or something. How do you guys get a perfect score?

 

Is there a way to bowl consistently to get strikes or is there some luck involved?

I don't think I ever got a perfect score but I came close.

The guidance from GTA Series Videos in the video linked above is exactly how I bowl:

Pick up the ball, then take two full steps to the left, lock the position, pull back for a single second and then roll the shot without touching the ball direction after.

 

Once you get the hang of it you'll consistently get strikes and these days I rarely get a score lower than 200, but I seem to always screw it up somewhere along the way which is why I only managed to get 300 for the first time earlier in the year. I'd say that there's still an element of luck involved because occasionally the ball will cause a split or not land the way you expect, and sometimes the nerves can get to you once you get so close and everything has gone perfect so far!

 

Fun fact, I learned that technique from a video similar to the above and probably even from an older upload of GTA Series Videos. It all started because I wanted to get the "Gobble Gobble" trophy on PS3 and then discovered that I really liked Bowling

I agree totally, but there is a secret's method... 

 

Once you got it out, the game only take out the player 0.1% of the bowling attempts... So 99.9% close to perfect with secret bowling method.

For some reason I lost the knack for doing the bowling that special way it explains in the video and I always mess it up when I try now. Luckily I did get the hang of it long enough to get the achievement though. I remember it was kind of funny, it was the last achievement I needed and naturally I decided to call Roman to go bowling to go for it - but he turned me down! Must've already bowled with him the last time we went out. Had to go with Packie instead.
