[IV] Sparks's Weapon Sound Revamp

Hey there! This is my first ever released mod for any GTA game and it's not a super extensive one, so I'll just cut straight to the chase. This mod replaces all of the gunfire sounds for each of GTA IV's primary weapons. This only applies to GTA IV and not the DLCs however, but I may make one for those in the future. I tried to stay as faithful to the vanilla game as I could without making it feel completely similar.

 

To install this mod, you will need OpenIV, which can be found here

 

Once you've installed it, load OpenIV and point it to your root GTA IV folder if you haven't already. From there, click "Edit Mode" to enable importing files.

Then, navigate to pc/audio/sfx/resident.rpf and open it. Inside, there should just a sub-folder also called WEAPONS which contains a file called "WEAPONS".

Extract the contents of the zip file and replace the WEAPONS file in resident.rpf with mine by simply clicking and dragging my file into OpenIV.

 

 

These sounds aren't meant to be exactly "realistic", but I think they suit each weapon well. Here's a video demonstrating the new sounds:

 

 

 

The first person and recoil mods used in the video is courtesy of Zolika's excellent trainer which can be found right here

 

This is used in concert with Catsmackaroo's revamped combat settings which can be found here, as well

 

It's possible that I will further update and refine this mod in the future, but for now, I'm pretty satisfied with how it all sounds. Hope you guys enjoy it!

I just released a much superior version of the Revamped Combat mod you speak of, care to let me know what you think? You're one of the few people I know of to still use that mod!

Awesome! Very glad too see my favorite weapon settings mod receive an update, with my mod getting a bump from it! I'm flattered
