MSAA performance in GTAV

So I wonder how I can increase the fps that is as low as 17-26 while I play the game. It got better when I turned on xmp profile in bios for the ddr4 memory. And changed the 2400 mhz to boosted speed at 3200 mhz. And I have configured the settings in Nvidia control panel as well. And made clean boots but nothing works. And could the fps increase if I switch to another cooler that has more fans and a bigger radiator.

Don't get caught up in benchmarks. I'm running on a last gen Ryzen APU with 16Gig. I have not once drove 116MPH down the road and said to myself "gee,I wish the graphics were better".

Hopefully we are in the tail end of it,but it is a GPU Apocalypse right now. AND I WAS READY TO BUY!! I foolishly waited for Black Friday last year. Dang! Could have had a RTX 3070 at retail. Dang!

Stop watching the FPS and make due until graphic cards become sane again.

BTW,whats your full specs?

I have Hyperx Predator, 32gb, ddr4, 3200 mhz, rgb. intel core i9 9900k 8 core and 16 thread. asus strix gaming z390-f, msi geforce rtx 3090 suprim x.

But what do you want to say by this message you sent me.

Just play 2160p without AA, it's not worth the fps loss if playing in 2160p or even higher.

On 95% of the map i got my 120+ FPS using a ASUS TUF GAMING RTX 3080 OC, R9 5950x (16 cores 32 threads cooled with ASUS Ryujin 360), 32 GB DDR4 3200 RAM, M1 Nvme SSD.

I only get tiny little fps drops under 120 if im around a lot of vegetation, my grass is set to high not highest, highest totally kills performance.

But do I have a too weak intel core i9 9900 k processor. Maybe I need more cores I dont know.

All you need is a frame limiter somewhere safely below 180fps. GTA V's engine starts dropping frames if your system can run it above that. It was only designed to run at 30fps on the PS3 and Xbox360 afterall.

More cores wouldn't help very much, i mean even the i9-10900K is bottlenecking the RTX 3090.

I would just wait for the next generation of CPU's, well that's what i would do if i were you. Then you also have DDR5 RAM instead of DDR4. It's normal having a CPU bottleneck, i mean at some point every CPU can't handle everything.

I think the lowest FPS i ever had in GTAO was 65 FPS or something that was in the car meet, in a specific spot in a specific angle, and that happens because NO CPU can handle the online mode with 29 players, and keep 120+ FPS in 2160p. It doesn't matter what you see on the screen, it's the stuff that happens on the map in freeroam that tanks the fps, if there are 8 CEO's doing work in anyway, + event, + many cops + etc. the fps just go down.

In singleplayer it's not hard getting good fps, yeah like already mentioned the grass areas, they tank FPS a bit, that is so pretty much the only thing.

You should have at least 120 FPS, everywhere in town where there is no extreme grassy area, i mean really everywhere, if you get for example a drop to under 120 FPS at outside michael's, i mean at the gate, or similar spots, yeah then your really bottlenecked, but if it only happens in grassy areas, then everything is fine.

Just don't use AA, if you play 2160p, use 4xAA if playing in 1440p, and maybe 8xAA if playing in 1080p. That's the best looks/performance ratio i guess.

Listen to Airwolf, the problem is your system is to GOOD and you WILL be exceeding the games FPS limit! going past 180ish screws the game up and will show you having really bad FPS. You need to max the settings Ultra everything max draw distance etc and limit the Frames!.

On my newest laptop which is powerful but not nearly as powerful as your 3090 and 9900 combo I have to limit it to 150fps even though I have a 360hz screen or it will play bad. you will have to do this as well.

You CPU is more than capable GTA was made to run on Dual and Quad cores back in 2013, you have a much faster 8 core chip it is not going to be the problem.

So could any of you just answer me straight what I can do with the components I have to increase the fps to get a frame limiter about 70 at least or 60 fps.

Airwolf has given you the only solution you need to take notice of, you need to install a external program like riva tuner to limit the frames to less than 170-180. Going above this breaks the game and makes it look like you have poor fps.

It is a very common issue with newer hardware.

Trust me do this and you will be running 120+fps consistently.

Yeah but I would need a program that can boost the frames to higher fps and not limit it down to less fps.

Adn which riva tuner can I download because there are several to choose from.

No you need to put a limit the frames not boost them. Riva tuner comes with "MSI afterburner" which to be honest is a program you should install anyway if you own a RTX3090 and want to experiment with overclocks and getting the most out of it, it is also free.

But I do not think you are understanding me properly GTA 5 was never designed to run at high frame rates and if you do pass that limit then it will seem like you are running really low frames trust me I know this sounds a bit counter intuitive. but this is what happens.

So as odd as it seems, to get good consistent fps you need to max out all the graphics settings and limit them to 150ish using Riva tuner.

You have a god tier gaming setup by the way it will easily play GTA 5 maxed at 4k with 120fps +

edit, just try it and then thank Airwolf :)

Ok, at this point I have to ask it.

Did you actually plug your monitor into the graphics card? And not the motherboard?

If you have a graphics card, never use the video connector on the motherboard.

As for upgrading your cooling, no need if it stays below 80 degrees celsius. If it gets above, either upgrade the cooling or back off with the overclocking

You can check the temperatures in MSI afterburner, and while you're at it, open RivaTuner and set the frame limit to 150.
