Police variety in GTA 6?

What would you like to see for Police variety in GTA 6? I'm thinking they'd do the same thing as GTA 5/SA, with City cops, and Rural police/Sheriff deputies, lemme hear your thoughts.

Well if the map is going to be biblical than having a lot of different police units would make sense.

Ah, this brings back good memories of the Police thread on the GTA V speculation forum.

Yeah, it just depends on how the map works. If there's multiple cities/counties than there should be multiple police forces. I'd like to see more private security around the map, too. Patrolling strip malls/parking lots at night, off duty cops working security at liquors stores at stuff, etc.

They can dress them all in one outfit and use the same model for all I care, if they implement a proper AI system without endless out of thin air spawns. I also don't want to get one star for shooting a random guy in the desert without any witnesses. Seriously, current GTA police is so bad and so outdated that the appearances are actually last things that bother me, because with current graphical advantages we need more emphasis on the actual gameplay.

mhm, when you see variety me thinks what really matters is their AI. yeah they is better than cyberpunk but V wasnt that advanced, so me hopes they drasticly improve :kekw:

CP is on par with GTA 1 in terms of cops.

I want fat cops to return and V's cops with their Robocop aim to go away. Shootouts weren't as fun in V because they never seemed to miss.

Biblical can mean "large scale" or "great" (as in the size).

Already implemented and these cops are more invisible than John Cena: you will get some stars for committing a no-witness crime in the middle of nowhere. Unless LSPD uses some state of the art drone surveillance with highlt effective ML algorithms in real time, these rocks in the desert must be undercover cops who are so deep under that will only report your crime but never interfere.

Reasonably accurate parody of American law enforcement. Militarised trigger-happy urban police, good ol’ boy somewhat inept rural sheriffs, highway patrol with a stick up their arse and an arsenal of fast cars to chase down runners, and corrupt orwellian federal 3-letter-agency glowies/Gmen.
I’d especially like if they tried to make the operation of law enforcement be more realistic, with genuine mounted patrols and bottles on the beat. Dynamically arresting NPCs who break laws in their line of sight. What would be really cool is if they had actual patrol routes and consistent schedules, along with a set number of officers to spawn in certain precincts. And rather than just spawning infinite cars and cops in front of you, it could have them actually called and dispatched from the main HQ of that precinct.

Some random female cops please (in actual chases, not just standing around police stations). 12% of cops in the US are female, it's dumb to have zero out of all the hundreds of thousands that chase you throughout the game be women. Made sense in older games where they only had a very small number of different cop NPC models but with the amount they have now it shouldn't be a problem.

I agree that lots of variation would be cool, between departments etc. I'd definitely like to see FIB come after you at high levels instead of just more endless NOOSE as well. And bring back the 6th star and the army.

But yeah most important is that they improve the wanted/police chase system drastically as in V it's terrible.

You know what, I want some variety when it comes to vehicles, dammit.

I want an old 1990's Ford Crown Victoria and some new 2010's Chevrolet Caprice, a SUV, a van... I want a lot of them, to be honest.

Grand Theft Auto IV delivered, but Grand Theft Auto V failed hard.

Same sh*t in RDR2, and not just with cops but with any enemies.

Yeah but what percent of that 12% usually work in administrative desk job roles and how often do they send female cops to chase after maniacs who wreak havoc with miniguns and tanks as the average player does in the GTA?

LOL, they don't check a cop's gender before sending them on a call, they send whoever's nearest and not already on a higher priority call.

It's a moot point though, because female cops do get involved in chases, in GTA V. It's just kinda rare. I imagine they'll still be there in the next game.

A higher percentage than zero lol. And it's very often just foot chases or regular car chases, with lower amounts of stars. For the regular beat cops a percentage should be female. They already did it in V but it was just lame they didn't include them when they spawn to chase you. I'm sure they will in the next game.

And hopefully there will also be actual patrolling cops (not just around police stations or as part of the exact same one scripted chase over and over). Only having them spawn in response to a set amount of crime, instead of patrolling so there's some unpredictability in how fast you'll get a wanted level/how much you'll get away with depending on whether there's a cop nearby or not, really made things a lot more predictable and repetitive.

I would love if we could be a cop in the game,

An actual working police station,

When someone commits a crime, cops from the nearest station are sent to the crime zone.

Different animations/ heights for cops, also fat cops.

That's one minor thing that made GTA IV pretty immersive, the wanted level didn't trigger as fast with minor crimes unless there was a patrol roaming around your area, so when you had to steal/hijack a car in the streets for example, you actually had to watch your back and surroundings to make sure you didn't get a wanted level, it just gave a sense of awareness of the impact of your crimes and a feeling of unpredictability to the city.

Agreed! And you could have fun at lower wanted levels for a while instead of it always escalating to a full on battle really fast every time. It made losing the cops more varied and less boring as well, as you could even commit further crime while escaping and it wouldn't count against you or make you have to wait any longer as long as they didn't see it (whereas in V any crime always counts and will reset the losing wanted level timer). I've lost wanted levels in IV while driving down the pavement running over everyone in my path before just because I happened to be out of view of cops at the time lol, but in V all you can do is wait it out. No patrolling cops and also no wanted circle means every single aspect has to be automated and completely predictable.

I think it would be interesting to have unmarked police. Have we seen them in GTA not in a cutscene? I don't know..

But detective police would be nice. Perhaps the only way you can identify them is that they often wear a badge on a lanyard. But aside from that, their cars are unmarked and they don't wear uniforms. Their unmarked cars do have built-in sirens and lights.

Perhaps we can play some missions where we pretend to be plain clothes police, busting some dealers and stealing their stash.

This has been said a couple of times here and there, it would be cool to see a rare chance of a cop using a weapon that's not "standard issue" such as one wielding a magnum revolver or a semi-automatic rifle like the M1 Garand at higher levels. Sometimes it gets tiring and pretty predictable seeing cops using the same weapons at every wanted level.

At four stars and above, a SWAT/FIB vehicles arrives and there's an uncommon chance one person within that team is armed with a sniper rifle. This particular dude will refrain from charging towards you, instead hangs back and scouts for a flanking spot to pick you off especially from higher ground when applicable.

I'd like to see regular cops patrolling the streets in cars and more rarely on foot, motorcycle cops patrolling on the highways and more rarely in the city, rural cops in small towns, and also the NOOSE team, FIB and National Guard spawning at higher wanted levels. It would also be cool to see an individual variety of cops, have male and female cops like in GTA 5, have fat cops like in GTA 4, have older cops armed with revolvers occasionally spawn alongside younger cops armed with pistols as a nod to  80s action movies like Lethal Weapon, maybe even have different behaviors (some cops could be lazy and if you're hiding behind some dumpster or something they'd just take take a glance and leave if they don't see you while others would search for you, some could be more aggressive and would charge you even if you're shooting a machinegun at them while others would be more cautious and stay in cover, etc.)
