Dark Silver
If you move too far from the center of the map, then CJ starts to shake, textures flicker. How to fix this? Using limit adjusters doesn't help. At a distance of 60 kilometers it is already noticeable. Here's a quote on why this is happening: Oh, just floating point errors. There are only 23 bits of precision in position data. That means that smallest increment you can move something by is one eight-millionth. Actual rendering is done in camera space, so that isn't an issue, but positions of objects and bones in characters are measured with respect to world origin. So if you get 1,000 miles from the map, the smallest increment you can even move anything by is over half of a foot. Hence the shaking and bouncing. This isn't particularly hard to get around. Someone just had to say, "Hey, we want to be able to do this and not break the game." Which they obviously didn't need to, since the entire map is just 6km across. j7n
When making a car model, a good practice is to attach as many parts as possible, such as license plates or floating decals, to the chassis because they will move with respect to one another due to rounding of the coordinates. And adjust overlapping parts that can create z-fighting. This makes it harder to edit the model later. The movement of doors is quite noticeable at 15-20,000 units. How can you possibly fill a 60,000 unit map with detail and not exhaust number of objects or zones? The Samp server that allowed to reach the limit only had a straight road with minimal scenery on either side of it. It was good for testing car mods. First time I hear of miles and feet in GTA.
