Rebuying GTA IV (TCE) - disc or digital?

I played GTA IV on Xbox 360 back in the day and I retired my console back in 2015. Lately I've been feeling an urge to revisit my beloved old Liberty City but due to changed circumstances, I'm not quite sure what's the best option.

 

Obviously I'm looking into the PC version this time, which I actually tried out many years ago but never owned myself. Since then I've seen that the Windows Live service has been retired which leaves me wondering what it means for the disc version of the game? I could buy it digitally from R* of course but I'd rather add it physically to my collection. I imagine you'd get the original radio stations with the disc version as well? I'm not really a PC player so I'm not updated with all the specifics about GTA IV's current situation and how Windows Live-games worked.

 

What are the pros/cons about disc vs. digital. Is there any trouble with the disc version now that Windows Live is gone or does it work just fine anyway?

Buy the Physical version and get both! The GFWL Activation code works on the Rockstar Launcher to claim a full copy of the game.

Game from RGL always have cut soundtrack even if it's activated with key from disc version. And sadly its quite hard/impossible to properly mod RGL version to bring those songs on CE back, as the damn launcher keeps redownloading modified files.

 

I would advise you getting either game on steam or stucking with game installed from dvds (which btw requires fiddling with time settings on windows thanks to great Securom protection :)))))))) )

If you already own the game on console you may let's just say "obtain x86 game binaries using alternative means". Those who really made the game got paid a long time ago and now there's no need to line Take2 upper management's pockets. For clues to alt sources read

But if he buys a physical copy of the game, he can just install that original version in a different folder and then claim the game on RGL and download the digital version too. That way he's got BOTH copies.

And why would anyone in their right mind prefer inferior RGL version over original retail one? I think paying 2nd time for the game you already own is unnecessary if you can just "borrow" x86 binaries from your "friends" on the internet.

Because it's free anyway? If you buy the physical version, you can use the same code to claim the RGL version, you see that way, you get BOTH, and you can install BOTH in different locations, or use the RGL version as an extra on a different computer, etc. Yeah sure you can pirate but you can pirate anything so in that case if you're happy to pirate why would you even ask?

i have a problem i download the patch(razor1911)  for gta 4 because i download gta 4 from Torrect but i have a problem that is RGSC.exe is missing please make a download link for RGSC.exe

You don't need it if you instead of Razor go with XLivelessAddon and launch directly through GTAIV.exe

i have a problem in gta IV crashes if i go to the island/city next door when i have a mission on the island next to me when i go to the island i immediately crash is this because the file is corrupted or what?
