Modder (Peter) Keeps following me through my sessions and crashing me

I'm fairly new to online and i was asking a question about how to be the host for missions, Peter said to alt f4 which i brushed off and ignored him, he then tp'ed to me and killed me with an auto rocket launcher thing. He did this 2 more times and then i ghosted him, He then says "Oh you ghosted me? Guess you have to restart your game" and then he spawns something on me and my game crashes. He has done this multiple times and he keeps finding me in the sessions i join. He won't stop, I have a video of him doing it along with making spoof messages of me with the intent of getting me banned i guess idk. I just want to play the game.

I waited like 20m and he isn't joining me but still. How do i block him? Would that even help?

Welcome to GTA Forums, sorry you've had to experience the nightmare of playing this game on PC in open public session.

There isn't much you can do against someone who wants to join you over and over and honestly my "solutions" aren't even ideal. You've got a few options:-

1) let him keep on doing that stuff and don't challenge it - don't rise to it or answer back, just let it happen. Eventually they will get bored and move on to someone else or give up entirely;
2) only play in invite only / closed friend / closed crew sessions with trusted individuals, some of which may be able to help the situation by voting to kick the malicious modder if and when they enter the session;

3) using the Windows Defender Firewall to block the outbound 6672 port (more info on various sites, probably best to google that) - this will mean that you can play in solo public sessions that nobody else can join even if they're using mods;
4) similar to 3, but using a program to automate the process, like Session Sweeper or Guardian or alternatives;

5) the least preferable and one that I don't advise nor do myself, is running cheats / mods to protect yourself online.

Regardless of what you choose to do, you may be able to prevent him seeing when you are online, to some extent at least. Press the HOME key when you've got the game loaded to bring up the Social Club interface and click on the settings cog in the top-right, then click settings. In here, click on the "Game Settings" on the left side and choose "Me Only" for the "Presence Visibility" setting.
This does have the knock-on effect of you appearing offline to friends and might not prevent cheaters from following you around, but it may help.

Sadly I mostly play the game in solo public sessions on PC as a result of the nonsense that usually prevails.

Thank you so much for this, i'll probably try changing my status and go with 2, I really only want to play missions by myself cause other people mess it up. But i don't know how to host every mission i join. I waited a while and he isn't here so maybe he got bored. Idk. I just wanna play lol

Whilst you're in any online session, go into the pause menu > Online > Options and somewhere near the bottom there's an option, 'Remain Host after Next Job Vote Screen'. It's usually a good idea to have that turned on to remain the host between job sessions, although it's not guaranteed because the peer-to-peer nature of the game will often favour the player with the better internet if / when the session host is changed.

To launch jobs yourself, go into the pause menu > Online > Jobs. Here, the "Quick Job" option basically works the same as joining someone else's job via the phone - so that'd be mostly pointless for you, so go ahead and choose the "Play Job" option. You'll find all sorts of jobs under different categories like Arena War, Target Assault, Stunt Races, etc, if you choose the "Rockstar Created" option, as all of these are jobs created in-house by Rockstar Staff.

Good luck!

hey, sorry but the only thing that will work is to get Guardian if they're persistent, and enable it even in Invite-Only Lobby, yes they can come in IO lobby, this is what happened to me. Crazy. Only Solo lobby is safe but you cannot invite friends and activities are very limited.

 https://www.thedigitalarc.com/software/guardian

You can whitelist your friends and prevent any other from joining. Lets say, if you play a gamemode limited to 4 players(heist), he won't be able to join if the room fills up quickly. At the end the guy DDOSed me, I'm glad he stopped xd. He got bored I think.

Every time I have ever played GTAOnline in a public lobby on PC I've been hacked, or experienced some kind of cheat crap in someway. I now play exclusively in solo public* lobbies on PC, and have for years. It's kind of lame, but you can still do anything that doesn't require 2+players (which is most of the game). The AI can be pretty brutal at times (game spawns uber death AI on you when nobody else is in game doing free roam activities), but it's still pretty fun. It's nice not to get orbital cannoned every time you try and delver something too. 😉

*Disclaimer: I am not advocating or instructing anyone how to achieve permanent solo public lobbies, just that it is possible, easy, and free.

It is sad RS allows this crap to happen.

Email or RS support and report him.

try to document everything you can. Hopefully this puke of a human will be banned.

WHAT!!!

Are you kidding me?

RS created a game where I sell product in public lobbies. ONLY!

I did not buy this game to be fodder for some twerp on a scifi flying deathmachine fueled by his Mommies credit card.

On PC, I 99% of the time,

WIN+R

resmon.com

right click and SUSPEND GTA5

wait 5-10 seconds

right click and ENABLE GTA5

If RS doesn't like this then screw them-I'm not going to be fodder for some Twerp with Mommies credit card or a Modding Twerp.

There is a much easier way to create permanent solo public lobbies that still works from many years ago and you never have to do anything again ever, after applying it the first time. Every time you launch the game it will already be ready to go. Google stuff.
The disclaimer is just a disclaimer. You can google what that means too. 😉

But sometimes I want a full lobby...BUT maybe not for long. I just tried to sell product from my MC business. I should have known better when I seen the Flying Bike,but I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. Of course hope is worthless when you are dealing with 12 year old twerps (or the mental equivalent). All the YT vids say sell in full lobby for the 1% bonus,but they are not accounting for my blood pressure.

I sell at 1 bar. It was $53,000 and there were 20 people in there so it would have been $10,600 bonus. Nice, but not worth the Grief. For now on I'm just selling in a Solo public-I'll try your advice.

Thanks!

BTW-it will let me sell cargo in a solo public right? I have CEO Office and a small warehouse either RS gave with the Criminal Pak or I bought my first day. I may as well take advantage of it,if I can do it solo public. I sure as hell am not driving thru the center of town trying to sell product. If it was me and only one other peson I probably would spend more time dead than alive.

Update-it seems those methods are for the game machines. The PC uses my method,more or less. They all come down to pausing a thread.

Besides,I'm a programmer. I can write a python scripts to do this.

In fact I was planning on writing a macro editor so I can press one button and have it perform multiple keystrokes. Like depositing money or calling my mechanic to bring my Bati 801. Stuff I do constantly. I actually have more fun doing stuff like this than playing the games.

You can do everything in Solo Public, but if there are no people, the game will sub in AI attackers on some activities, like I/E etc.

I use PC exclusively. No Pausing required. Hint *firewall rule* 🤫

Those YT vids are made under the assumption that you have a large crew protecting you, or that nobody is going to grief a known youtuber.

Doesn't matter, all it takes is one off-radar Oppressor mk2 to ruin their day.

I will only start small Bunker and Nightclub sales in full sessions, using off-radar and Ghost Org, but I always have my solo public switch ready in case someone finds me. (and if it's a bad sale mission, I find new session, I only do the fast ones)

The only time I'd sell anything else in full session (crate warehouse / MC stuff) is when you join one of those dedicated grinding crews that can keep control of a session by kicking out all the randoms and filling the session up with crew members.

Today i experienced it too, being followed by some hacktool jerk from session to session, i just played some singleplayer then. I hope he is bored already and leaves me alone if i play tomorrow.

I made a video of how he made me explode and fly into the air, and how he teleports etc. but i recorded it with the ingame record function and it seems there is no way to show the player name in the video, so there is no way for me to send it to rockstar. Yay what a useless videorecorder. I even forgotten the name already, i just remember his name had a color in the list.

Next time i at least know, the ingame videorecorder is useless.

To report someone directly to Support you need to upload on Twitch or YT I think anyway, with gamertag displayed, health bar(if its godmode, or record him surviving an orbital strike in the open, with automatic targeting)...etc

Thats why you need your Nvidia panel working flawlessly :)

Yeah or the windows dvr that works fine too, i will do that today setting it up again, incase i come across one of these ppl again. It's annoying having to use stuff like that, if there is a videorecorder ingame.

Hey Naveu-,

Same exact thing - modder with spoofed username "Peter" (actual username is DOGFART69420) has been following me from session to session today, September 13th 2021. This also happened 2 or 3 days earlier.

I play since 2013 and account that I play now is created 2015 with rank 766. It has very unique username that makes players think I am modder.

So today I joined GTA Online session to continue Preps for Diamond Casino Heist. Then "Peter" showed up and crashed my game to Desktop. I started game again and after 2-3 minutes online "Peter" joined my session, I noticed that and immediately changed session, and he joined me again, so I changed session again. This repeated for about 60 minutes in real time. I had opportunity and reported him 2 times. I will keep reporting as I have chance. Also be aware that I have large collection of modders on my YT channel that i caught modding online, so this might be reason why modders after me.

2 important things to note:

1) Social Club usernames are not allowed to be shorter than 6 characters and cannot have SPACE in username (applicable to PC only). If you see username "Peter", "lol", "Good Modder" or similar - username is surely spoofed. Also usernames are always white color. If you see username in any color other than white - it is spoofed or modded username.

2) Whenever you see spoofed username, it is good time to investigate this account. To see real username, do: P - Online - Players - "suspected modder" - Show. It will reveal actual username, or you will get white error page. If you see white error page, that means that modder uses menu that allows them to hide their actual SC page. If username in-game does not match username in Social Club, I suggest to Report Exploits on that player.

January 8 2022 Update: This dude is still around. Joined me for Nightlife Leak mission, complained that I did not have to report him, then spawned hundreds of objects around me. Had to jump to single player mode. He used different account/username today. When we exchanged information, he says he maintains list of player that he likes to join and harrass. Also said he prefers voice communication over text chat. I'd record video and audio next time around.
