The_One Posted May 20, 2003 Share Posted May 20, 2003 I got this game on the 15th, and have been playing it ever since Anyway, yesterday I was going about my business and pulled into the Hyman Condo (Which I had purchased) and the game crashed suddenly. The video froze and the sound kept going, then eventually stuck in a loop. I CADed out and was greeted by a Win XP error - the game had crashed (no sh*t). I though it was a freak occurence (first time I have had any problems) but when I tried it a second time it happened again. I tried one more time and I realised that the second the left hand garage door opened it crashed - I figured this because I pulled in from the other side (through the road block thing) and it was fine until that door opened. I can't remember what car I had in this garage, if I even had one at all. But it was definitely at that point it crashed. This leads me to believe it was a problem within the game, or with my save rather than any hardware - it certainly wasn't a random crash. Luckily I had an earlier save I was able to revert to (before I'd purchased the Condo). I've been playing with that ever since - no problems, but I'm scared to buy the Condo now in case it happens again. Has anyone else had this problem, or similar? I don't need to fix my other game, as I'm further ahead now in the one I switched to. But I really don't want to hit the bug again... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Vercetti Thug Posted May 29, 2003 Share Posted May 29, 2003 I had a problem at Sunshine Auto Sales garages with all my Infernus Cars disappearing and then the game would freeze but the sound would keep going. I reverted back to the previous save game and now it is fine, but when I try the other save game it freezes everytime. I didn't use any cheats either, so I don't get it. PLUS it's really close to vrock hq! ), and had no problems coming in from either side. i'm sad to hear u're having probs... =( oh, and The Quick and the Dead, i hope something bad happens to ur vc, and then'll start complaining and whining and i'll be laughing mao. I've been playing the hell out of VC all week, and today I crashed at Hyman Condos... in exactly the same way, by driving a car into the middle garage. In both cases, it was the FBI Washington I found in an alley not too far away, and the image froze (with sound still continuing) at exactly (or near exactly) the same point. Now I've used the Condo a lot (with the chopper on the roof, plus the goodies from the hidden packages, not to mention 3 roomy garages), and this was the first time it happened... then it happened 10 minutes later. And now, checking the forums, it's happened to other people. Weird stuff. I mean, why freeze at just that point? What's happening at only that garage (which I've used before without problems)? It will do it absolutely every time I get near the garage. Guaranteed! On foot or in a car makes no difference. It will even crash if I'm hundreds of feet over the top of it in a chopper. Jailbird Posted May 30, 2003 Share Posted May 30, 2003 Ditto. I'm not using the patch 'cause the site says only to install it if you have graphics screwed up... and I don't. Also, I don't have any mp3's in my mp3 folder (a suggestion from the sticky above), so that's not doing it. This is a new thing, because I've been in and out (and all around) the Condo many times before... I can't think of anything that would cause this now (besides the obvious "it's a bug"). Not only does it freeze while parking a car in the garage, it'll freeze if I enter it on foot. Worse, if I avoid the garage all together and just try to wander down the alley, it freezes! Did I get a corrupted save game? Arrgh! That alley is an excellent shortcut (plus the bribe is there), now I'm afraid to even approach the building. In fact, there might be other areas of town I may have to watch out for... I think I may just have to reinstall and hope to God I just accidently corrupted something and can fix it.
