DeepRed
FFS - I don't want to play at sluggish 30fps just so that I can the texture of the road that I am supposed to be driving on. Rockstar seem to have done well on getting the smoothness on VC sorted on mid spec pc's do why do we have to put up with 30fps???? Come on patch it! Flame me if you think otherwise
1337jman
I have tried the FL off before but to be honest, everything move a bit to fast for me, it seemed unrealistic to me IMO, and didn't notice the draw distance bug. I think it is fine with the limiter on.
DeepRed
Maybe I have a problem then. With FL on its really sluggish (1280*1024 4 aa 8af) - I wonder if it caps it @ 30 fps then applies the AA & AF which slows it up??? Anyone else know if this is the case???? Suppose i'd better get FRAPS and check. Its not really playable with the limiter on. Its sort of ok in 98 mode apart from movies and sound. kabbage
8x AF and 4x AA and you wonder why you're having trouble? Holy sh*t that'd make my system sh*t itself and it's a fairly good system.
DeepRed
Athlon 2600xp with A7N8X deluxe loving 512mb and snuggled up with a new Raddy 9800pro. Now you know why it pisses me off having to run it at 30fps!!!!!!!!! Or less if my theory is correct.

Sorry - better clarify. With the FL OFF, my system eats it even with 6AA 16AF so it's not to do with the settings in the Video card. What I do think is the problem is that once the FL is ON, then it caps it at 30fps and then applies the AA & AF which will eat into 5 or 6 FPS resulting in low 20's FPS
Paulie
It doesn't bug me. They probably limited it to 30fps, so it runs smoothly and doesn't have slowdowns like there were in gta3's Liberty City when the fps jumped up and down. FPS isn't everything BTW
DanteinCali
Man ive been using the frame limiter with no problems really. Havent noticed any real sluggishness. Ive been pleasently surprised how smooth the game runs at very high res with 4x aa and 8x af.
DeepRed
I loaded FRAPS last night and it is a solid 30 fps when FL is on. Thats with 4AF & 8AA on 1280x1024. Maybe its my TFT but thats the Hitachi with the 16ms response time. FL on is slightly less sharp and choppy looking screen when looking around. Frames rates might not be everything but IMO its not a enjoyable experience with it on. Oh well, Win98 mode and sound probs it is then. Everyone touch the Rockstar Icon and visualise in your mind the words "PATCH THIS PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
