I need some tech help

 

Everytime I try to install, I can't even get to the second block of the progress bar before I get an error.

I've tried everything. Installing from different drives, installing without musics, copying CD to HD, running from there, then packing the files up into an image and running from a virtual drive, then burning the image on a new cd and trying that one out (this test produced another error: "Catastrophic error")

 

I don't believe it's my CD that is faulty. I asked a friend of mine at IRC to check, and the data2.cab is exactly the same size, to every last bit.

 

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!?!

Maxtor 80GB HDD

12X DVD / 40X CD drive (can't remember the label)

4X/2X/24X LG CD-RW drive

Hercules Gamesurround Muse LT

 

Proggies used for virtual drive test:

Daemon Tools

Fantom CD

 

Burn software:

Nero Burning ROM

And yes, I did search for other topics but there was only one person with the same problem and he didn't find anything. Thought I'd try my luck.

I had a crc (cyclic redundancy check) error too, rockstar said "1st, try taking it back", I did, the new cd installed the game on the first try, I have been playing ever since.

from the actual email:

"#1. If your copy´s an original (and you´ve checked it for dirt/smudges), try

returning it to the store for a replacement. "

 

of course if you are using a warez copy.....tsk tsk.
