Do you only need to wear one piece of Car Meet clothing to get the increased rep?

Yes, you could wear a hat and it would do. Anything from the Merch shop would do.

Any idea how many points you get for buying an item of clothing?  Is the same for any item or do some give more RP than others?

The Merch shop gives you 25 Rep Points I guess per purchase?

I don't think the Mod shop gives you any sort of Rep other than first time bonus which is 125 Rep points. Tattoo shop doesn't seem to give any Rep points whatsoever.

I've got a method people can use with a friend in the session:-

1) Both players go to the test track together.
2) Have Player 1 send a Head to Head invitation to Player 2.
3) Player 2 quickly accepts the invitation.
4) Player 1 then cancels the Head to Head before the time runs out (open phone, go into job list, cancel the head to head through there).
5) Rinse and repeat.

You don't get much rep for doing this, but it does bypass the five minute cooldown for the H2H's.

Yeah it's around 25 rep points I feel.

I got tired of my outfits looking dumb with each purchase so I put on a pair of boxer shorts. Then I just buy whatever clothes I unlock. If they're not going to give us new pants, I'm not going to wear any.

Here's a spreadsheet for the Rep levels

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RH6PIJvWmDlvuskeqKM6NCCwOnVxUglr22TUTSjG0A4

Each level is increased by 5 points all the way up to level 200 where it stops at 1100 points.

EDIT: Linked GTAMen spreadsheet. Better than mine.

The mod shop has given me Rep for the first modification to a car I've done each day so far.

I don't know about points, but Tez does sound correct. I get a full bar for every piece of clothes I bought. I will also concur that being AFK gives you about a rep level per hour. Here is my 5 minute method to raise your rep. You can only do it once a day, but at least it doesn't take an hour. Each bullet will raise your rep and the entire process will gain you a level.

  1. Enter Car Meet on foot, inside call mechanic for car.
  2. Buy Piece of Clothing from Vendor.
  3. Wear Clothing
  4. Test Drive Personal Vehicle on Track.
  5. Test Drive R* Vehicle
  6. Change License Plate

I'm reputation level 62, will I unlock the trade prices for the drip-feed cars every 5 levels in the background ?

Or should I wait until they are available to pass this 5 levels ?

I am interested in getting to at least 50 (I'm 38 RP now) and maybe 100 RP for the minigun, so I watched a video on how to more or less scam the system (the programmers didn't design it for this) because RS is doing double RP for RC Racecars. It entails you running off the track and continuously running that ramp by the airport.

1/2 second into it,I forgot all about the RP hack.

Has anyone ever actually done these races? I'm sure I came in last (I suck) and I didn't get a dime, but I don't care.

Man! That was fun!!

Sometimes I need to step back and say screw it: I bought the game to have fun.

Now let's all go mow down these snooty NPCs!

I haven't even done one yet as I'm waiting until next week's challenge to race. Don't want to tire myself out and lose out on a free car lol

I know of the concept though, you're wanted the whole time.... and with other players? YIKES! The standard Street races they released are already quite crash heavy at times, not being able to do non-contact is stupid lol

This is a good question.

I really hope the trade prices will be waiting for us when the new cars drop each week. I think they will, but they are random so it may depend on luck, which car pairs with your trade unlock.

Unless, of course you have all the trade prices unlocked

Afk’d 12 hours yesterday and went from 33 to 44.  Afk’d last night from 1230 to 7am went from half way 45 to 50.  This is terrible.

Were you wearing meet clothing ? I was from level 30-40 .  I didn't afk for 12 hous at once but a couple hours at a time with a session change every 45 mins and I averaged about 1.2 - 1.3 levels per hour from 30-40 . One time I was late on switching before thev48 minute fee Schedule hit ...but when I loaded in I got a rep bump right away.  I'm wondering if it may work like you get a bump for every in game day that you visit the meet..... I will test that tommorrow.

Nope.  It’s slow, but I’m up to level 77 between AFK’ing, clothing purchases, and trying to take advantage of every once-per-day bonus

Imagine heating your console or pc components just to advance some levels and even then you would need months or years doing this for hours daily to reach max level.

Wasn't expecting it to work but I was able to afk in the test track without rubber banding last night. Drove the Comet into the test track and immediately backed up to the exit so I would get the enter/exit car meet screen. From there I just set my wireless controller down and let it turn off naturally. Came back about 6 and a half hours later and I hadn't been kicked. Went from a hair shy of level 27 to halfway through level 34

That's right. And this update was released in the summer.
My room is the only room in our house without air conditioning, and the room temperature is already over 30 degrees Celsius this season.
And my PC has a cooling fan roaring with a very noisy sound when I play GTA this season.
I want to use the great livery as soon as possible, but leaving my PC for a long time in this season will result in increasing the risk of destroying my PC.

This isn't a B&M thread, so I'll refrain from complaining, but I'm hoping for a bonus week with more than double the rep as soon as possible.

Can confirm, this worked for me too.

Aside from one-time bonuses and daily bonuses, constant Rep gains are

- AFKing inside car meet or test track (10 or 20 Rep)

- Street Races

- Pursuit Races

- Scramble race

- Sprint race

- Head to head race

- Visit Car Meet Daily Streak (100, 250, 500 Rep)

- Merch Shop (25 Rep per purchase)

Note: AFKing inside the Test Track is technically different but currently the same. Basically, Rockstar can double out the Test Track bonus while Car Meet rep bonus remains the same, or vice-versa.

Okay, spent more time looking into this. It turns out there are one-time bonuses and daily bonuses (restarts per IRL day at same time as daily objectives).

Updated my list here with the daily bonuses. This also applies to the Mod shop bonus inside car meet. 75 Rep Points as one-time bonus and 50 Rep Points as daily bonus.

Daily bonuses are:

- Using Mod shop, 50 Rep points

- Visiting the car meet area grants 50 Rep points

- Using the test track with PV rewards 50 Rep points and another 50 Rep points from using a promoted car.

- Time Trial gives out 50 Rep points

- Street Races, 50 Rep points

- Pursuit Races, 50 Rep points

- Scramble race, 50 Rep points

- Sprint race, 50 Rep points

- Head to head, 50 Rep points

I'm not sure about this last one, but taking a spot or moving PV location grants 50 Rep points. Would be nice if someone can verify this.

In total, you could earn 550 Rep points from earning those daily bonuses.

That agrees with my observation.

Modding a Tuner, taking one to the test track, and taking a Test vehicle to the test track all get rewarded once per real day.

I haven't determined if it has a 24-hour timer (like the casino wheel) or calendar timer (like daily objectives).

Staying in the test track doesn't seem to automatically apply that award if you stay in there for more than 24 hours.  You have to leave and enter again.

If you're on PC you could cheat the locked liveries. This is probably what I'm going to do if I get tired of this grind. Right now I'm fine with what I get just from playing.

If you're AFKing on console, you should turn your TV off to prevent screen burn. The game will still be on.

Okay not sure if this is really necessary but my parents always told me this as a kid back when I had a Nintendo 64.

EDIT: Linked GTAMen spreadsheet. Better than mine.

Assuming 200 points per in game day (48min) and 997,430 points needed for level 1,000 this is how long it will take to reach level 1,000 by AFK alone:

997,430 / 200 = 4,987.15 in game days (setting aside .15 in game days/7 minutes)

4,987 x 48 minutes = 239,376 minutes

239,376 minutes / 60 = 3,989.6 hours (setting aside .6 hours/36 minutes)

3,989 / 24 = 166.2 days (setting aside .2 days/4 hours & 48 minutes)

166 days / 30 = 5 months 15 days 21 hours 36 minutes

Then add the set aside 4 hours 48 minutes, 36 minutes & 7 minutes = 5 hours 31 minutes

It will take 5 months, 16 days 3 hours 7 minutes of AFK to reach level 1,000.
