GTANet Posted July 20, 2021 Share Posted July 20, 2021 This topic is, once again, showing the worst of the worst the GTA community has to offer - ignoring all common sense except Reddit and 4chan-types of brigading and hate, especially towards staff, when it's not justified, and when the staff of GTANet cannot control the decisions of a corporation. It is an absolute shame to see this happening, and people being so immature as to go to the extents of some of the things that happened yesterday (some in hidden posts). We are not entitled to any statements of support or otherwise. Mainstream media such as Kotaku, Game Informer, PC Gamer and others have spread the issue just like a lot of the members in this topic wanted. Take-Two Interactive already knows about the outrage, regardless of a fansite like GTANet saying anything or not; Our modding section is untouched. Every single mod that was taken down and had a topic on GTAForums has their download links still up, except for external databases such as ModDB and GTA5Mods. Some authors requested their topics to be removed as a precaution as mentioned above by other staff, but mirrors for mods such as GTA Underground and GTA Liberty City are still up. GTANet has not received any DMCA notices from Take-Two Interactive. Our modding section continues until any order in contrary; We are a Rockstar Games fansite. We are entitled to show support to the brand and its games, as fans, and to things the staff of this forum actually like - such as Red Dead Online and GTA Online and WILL continue to do so. Brigading staff because they are not doing what you want is outright childish, and as referred in point 1, borderline Reddit and 4chan level behaviour that is not tolerated and never has been tolerated on this website. It's toxic behaviour and will not lead anywhere. The door is right there if you wish to leave just because we are not wanting, as a fansite, to be as immature as a lot of members in this topic. Many people in this topic seem to be forgetting a lot of our Forum Rules, which means we are in our full right to start issuing bans and warnings at staff's discretion. Supportive and clarifying posts by other staff members have been ignored, only for more hate to take place. This is not tolerated and we have no issue in showing you the door if you cannot have a civil discussion. We don't care what gang or group you're a part of either. This applies to any topic in this forum. We will reiterate: GTANet is not entitled to any kind of opinion or statement about something that is out of our control. We have no support or otherwise to give anyone because the news has spread far wider than any GTANet staff post or tweet could make it spread. The information is widely known and social media and this topic have already expressed their emotions. To think that we are necessary for Take-Two Interactive to do anything is outright naive and ignorant. We will start acting on brigading, hate and death threats against either staff, or Take-Two or Rockstar employees, just like during the OpenIV era. GTANet did not encourage anyone to review-bomb Grand Theft Auto V or any other Rockstar products in 2017. People did this out of their own volition, but selective memory is a complicated beast, and people think we did something very different back then whereas we did not. Our article back then made no difference as it was regurgitating people's emotions at the time. We are not entitled to any analyses or any feedback. The feedback has been given by the community, and that's the loudest and most important.
