None of this inspires hope in me at all. Absolutely none. And even if there is an update in the summer it's probably going to be completely woeful like the Blood Money update was.

Well, there's at least something going on with Red Dead Online Standalone. It's definitely linked somehow with GTAO Standalone. Rockstar probably already split GTAO Standalone from GTAV and decided to do the same with RDO.

https://steamdb.info/app/1404210/history/

Rockstar is supposedly planning to separate the standalone version from the main game. Because as it stands now, RDO Standalone is technically RDR2, but with limited access. Such move would of course reduce the size of the Standalone version. Worth noting, the Blood Money update introduced some interesting changes too. It spilt the update.rpf into 4 parts, thus terminating the need to download the whole file again if Rockstar makes some changes. In other words, you don't have to download 2 to 4 GBs worth each time a new patch goes live for some slight changes.

I hope that's case, I was really disappointed when I bought standalone RDO only to find out it was still ~100 GB.

GTAV E&E releasing on March 15 is, at least, a good sign for the RDO community as I initially thought its release window would be a late March release. With E&E out of the way, we should see qabeta updates occurring as much as GTAV.

The issue with RDO is a matter of prioritization unfortunately. This latest move came out of nowhere and was more of a way to keep up with Rockstar's plans with GTAO Standalone.

If RDO Standalone is spilt from RDR2, then it does suggest we would have an app for RDO on consoles. Instead of launching RDR2 and then moving to online, we could just launch directly into online with RDO Standalone? Much like the case with Call of Duty titles and Warzone. It's interesting, but it also means single-player would be completely separated from RDO. We could receive lots of new updates on RDO, but single-player would be stuck on an older build? Yet, on the other hand, this kinda makes it easier for Rockstar to develop online content and not having to ensure none of the new updates break single-player.

Well since they are making changes to RDO standalone that does give me hope that the support is not dead yet. It doesn't mean that we will get anything we'll like in terms of updates, but it's a promising change nonetheless. Right now it's more of a question whether we will get anything at all, not whether we will get some game-changing update down the line.

I'm guessing it will take at least a few months to find out what's in store for RDO.

I don't think that after the release of GTA V E&E Rockstar will pay more attention to Red Dead Online, they will definitely focus on this version of GTA E&E, even more if it comes all buggy.

Rockstar has been putting Red Dead Online aside for a long time, the only update that was good was the update and it brought a lot of content was "Frontier Pursuits" that brought the first 3 crafts to the game, after that Rockstar only brought updates with little content, very boring and that's not to mention that time when the game became unplayable because of a buggy update that Rockstar released.

She focused more on GTA Online updates bringing new Heists and lots of content.

I find it odd if they just drop all the support. It's been only 2 years and 2 months on PC. Imagine if the same happened to GTAO. That would mean the support would be cut before the Gunrunning DLC. GTA Online still going stong in 2022..

The most important update aka Frontier Pursuits was released 2 years and 5 months ago. If that update never existed I guess I would never ever played RDO that much.

BTW. RDR2 is doing great on Steam, compare those numbers back to when the game was released. Sure, all could be playing singleplayer and because it was on sale, but everyone who plays the story are potential online players as well.

Tentatively promising news, then.

Gives me some kind of unofficial roadmap;

March - GTAV E&E

June? - RDO DLC

And probably no more updates or support for XBOX One/One S.
June RDO DLC(?) is probably aimed for the XBox Series X.

Well, time to save up for a new console, no way I'm playing neither GTAV E&E or RDO on a PC...

This! 👆

I would not, actually have not recommended anybody buy just the online version of this game. If I know what I know now, I definitely wouldn't. The story has so much to offer, while online skipped the promises and is just bland.

So now they are actually separating the games now?

Sounds great but part of me doesn't see much hope in it, really.

First off the company may be separating the online from story because they are simply trying to get more people to buy the game, it may not even have anything to do with them updating the game or even trying to do anything with it. They know that the casual player on PC may not want to waste that much computer space on a portion of the game that they are not going to play so to entice them they make the download easier.

The optimist in me would say that they are doing this because they are looking to really tweak the game world and need to separate the files in order to do so, or to make it easier and less likely to have errors due to story mode files that might interfere with their new additional scripts.

But the optimist in me is gone, and I think they are doing this just to sell more copies.

Until they prove otherwise, and actually try to make conversation with the RDO player base, I am not going to bother trying to be optimistic.

The speculating for this game is so depressing.. It's foolish that a company lets their product fall so far?

Lol, @IzzyBlues loving that new avi! 😁

Story Mode separated from Online Mode? If I'm dreaming don't wake me up, I'm tired of RDO updates breaking RDR2, so if this is true, it will be the best thing to ever happen to this game. This will befenit both modes, because two separate game installs means less files to read, so graphics could be restored to those of Version 1.00 on both modes, having a more stable performance and faster loading times.

You would likely find a similar comment before the Blood Money update happened. Plus, what just happened in the previous page.

Yeah, I will tell you what would likely happen alright.

Basically, an executive would be like "On my momma, you ain't gonna cancel that game" and proceeds to suggest "Keep adding new sh*t, find what clicks and then milk that sh*t" in addition "Ain't no way you gonna waste my investment when your broke-ass is yet to try out every last resort".

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

People here complain every month. I would be surprised if they didn't update the game in July or August.

Well, it is what it is. 😄  In a few months we will know if they plan to support the game at all, but even so I am not having high hopes or any hopes at all. That would be foolish at this point. Though the only thing that would convince me to go back to playing regularly would be a decent, large update. If that doesn't happen (and right now I have no reason to believe it will), there is no reason for me to come back.

I don’t even care about a new role/heists or whatever. I just want cool sh*t to buy. Oh, and the hot air balloon.

We don't need any more ways to make money, it's already far too easy to make money, what we need is a way to convert dollars to Gold/Capitale and vice versa and stuff to spend all three on.

If we get stuff to spend all three on I have a feeling that it will all be locked behind Gold and Capitale with Dollars being the low-end currency we spend on shops and stuff like Properties will be locked behind Gold.

You know it's a sad f*cking day for a game when people are watching and making videos over the slightest little change in anything to do with the game.

Rockstar updated the original qabeta to fill the contents of the new depots exclusive to RDO.

https://steamdb.info/app/1404210/history/?changeid=13928679

Qabeta2 & 3 remains out of date, which usually are the main branches to indicate new DLC, but this is interesting development nevertheless. Also, it doesn't help that these updates are done on the RDO Standalone app, yet no updates are happening on the main RDR2 app.
