If they announce that they stop supporting it and close the servers they are not allowed to sell any micro transactions! So from a business stand point its better to keep it in a zombie state!

It's one of those 80's movies that kind of became a cult classic, not so mainstream but it drew enough fans that it got it's own following.

We're at an impasse with R* it seems.

 

They (R*) obviously think it's not making enough money so the decided upon no updates until RDO starts to bring in the cash flow.

Players on the other hand are thinking that they aren't going to pay money into the game until there are substantial updates with worthwhile things to purchase.

How in the hell did we get here?

I've been jumping off and on over the last month or so after taking a year off.

 

It was like jumping into a time machine. Aside from Call To Arms (which nobody seems to be playing), this game is still just a long series of boring errands to earn cash and gold that can't be spent on anything.

 

It really is quite shocking how stale and stuck in the mud this game is.

Games lose support ALL the time and still up. GTA IV, RDR 1 are right there!

LG era GTA V is a different case, it was dropped supportwise years ago and only just got canned. They're not going to outright destroy the servers, they only did that for GTA 5 because what's the point of having servers for THREE different generations and SEVEN consoles? Barely anyone played 360/PS3 anymore and it was infested with modders, it was time to go

No. RDO has servers placed worldwide. Its not P2P.

I have to admit that video tech on twitter is being heavy and annoying for me since every time he is complaining about R for his lack of communication and now that he saw the sea of thieves

I will only say this
is the style of R is to be silent

when they reveal something, it earns profits on its own

because it would be strange for me to see a rockstar talking every second

Being silent and still producing updates is one thing... But that is clearly not what is happening with RDO, and it surely isn't what is happening with GTAO.

Well it's a mix. RDO (and GTAO but RDO improved upon this) uses servers to help with matchmaking, along with storing save data, broadcasting in-game messages and running all kinds of other scripts that affect game sessions. Player to player connections however are done directly via P2P.

If you played on Ps3 & GTAO before they moved over to Ps4 it was like playing on Pc! Jailbreaked means you can use third party programs.

Ahh, the dark ol' days of all sorts of nasty shenanigans. Always 'loved' walking outside my apartment and a wind farm turbine was ready to smash our cars up or send us flying.

 

But yeah, if it goes anything like that era, it's a game killer for sure. Especially in a game like RDRO where there's no lobby choices to hide from the majority of issues.

It would have been a GTA ender too, it wasn't until last year's Cayo Perico that you could actually do sh*t in Invite Only.

Invite Only might exist but you could do f*ck all in it, imagine it'd be the same here too as there's no way they'd let you do a long distance Trade uninterrupted lmao

I'm so pleased with the greater Xbox RDO player base, not meaning to sound like I'm bragging but I hardly have ever had much trouble when I am logged on. Everyone has been pretty cool, sure there have been frustrating player incidents here and there but those are so rare I hardly remember them all.

Something like that will only bring players who just want to screw things up for everyone else, there is no other reason to have it and that sucks for us real players. I hope R* will at least give us invite only sessions if they get wind of this, it's the least they could do.

Don't hold your breath. 

The last PC ban wave I read about they bragged about banning hundreds of thousands of cheaters (as if it's something to be proud of that they allow them to cheat in the first place), yet no private sessions were ever offered.

 @kcole4001 I ain't got much hope for anything that deals with RDO anymore, and I remember people saying that their heavy handed banning didn't do a darn thing to make the game much better. As always, those players always will come back.

 

This whole thing has turned into a strange nightmare, and it seems like the more we go on the worse and worse news we seem to get regarding this game.

They can only seem to ban the modders and not the cheaters... since those that are using modified files are easy to detect, I can use Cheat Engine with RDO undetected and not be banned unless someone in a session reports a 'cheater' using Cheat Engine and it will remamin so as nothing gets modified.

 

I don't use CheatEngine but I was curious and seems that the cheating going on with most is limited to players in solo sessions since they can play it safe and not get banned due to be undetected, mostly though the cheaters using Cheat Engine just want an easy ride with the game, but it's the modders that are dumping assets on players into a session that are likely to be picked up and reported first and foremost since they love to wreck havoc in a full session of players so they get reported.

So if the game doesn't ban a modder for using a mod menu, then they will only get banned by being reported, the same with those using Cheat Engine if they are not someone who is just minding their own business in their own solo lobby and are using Cheat Engine in a public lobby and it's effecting another player, they only get banned by being reported.

I wouldn't worry too much about the PS4 Jailbreak, as Sony will ban their PS account before Rockstar even get the chance too, since Sony has systems in place to detect modified firmware from playing Online and those that manage to get through eventually end up losing their PS account so those messing about with the PS4 Jailbreak only the idiots will be playing online and screwing around but at least you can be happy that they eventually will lose their whole PS account and any games or digiital content they may have if they deicde to wreck havoc online, and Sony will ban the whole console too, so they won't be able to create a new PS account, pirate a game and get back online as Sony will ban the actual console hashes when they ban the PS account that using a jailbroken PS4 online.

I used a jailbroken PS3 in the past and whilst I was able to not get myself banned, it was quite the experience which his where my last paragraph of knowledge comes from, and Sony will have stepped up their game this time round. I won't be messing about with the PS4 Jailbreak as I've lost the passion for these types of things as I've got older (37 years old now), I use to experiment with everything but I am so far out of touch nowadays I wouldn't know where to begin, I kinda stopped when I moved over from the PS3 to the PS4. I thought about dipping my toe into the PS4 jailbreaking scene to see what can and cannot be done and to inform the legit players of games but I just cannot be bothered (to jailbreak that is).

Note: I don't want people thinking I'm a bad egg by experimenting with Cheat Engine on PC, or using Jailbroken Consoles as I only do those things for myself only, I'm not one those people that only do it to annoy others, just to be curious and I use to like experimenting and be more informed of what the idiots are able to do and hopefully being able to help and explain to legit players of the ones that are bad eggs or simply just idioits and try to use the knowledge I obtain for good!

The game does have the basic features of an anti-cheat to detect mod menu users without having to report them. It was only early last year when the most popular mod menu of Red Dead Online became detected. The owner was going wild issuing several updates to circumvent the new checks, but with no luck. Not sure what happened afterwards, but a few months after, Take-Two shut it down.

 

Rockstar did signature checking against this mod menu, which caused the users to get banned real quick. R* is constantly doing the same on GTA Online.

 

Cheat Engine is detectable, but depends on usage. Yes, even within a solo lobby. In fact, I would say most of R* prioritization goes to detecting money/gold methods. Most of what the cheaters abuse are legit elements of the game. Like a Trader Sale ...etc. Nowadays, however, cheaters may slip under the radar doing some dumb stuff due to less focus on RDO.

Nah, I won't judge.

As long as a player isn't using anything like that to interfere with my game just to ruin my day I'm not going to pass judgement, live and let live and all that jazz.

 

I honestly didn't know that companies actually made stuff to break into these games like that this day and age? I remember back in the day of ancient prophecy and the Nintendo when we had the game genie and people really hyped that thing up. But if I remember correctly, Nintendo wasn't too fond of it.

I used to mod the vehicle handling files in GTA III, lots of crazy shenanigans to be had, but of course that was all perfectly harmless single player stuff back then.
