And why did they half assed Gus? They could just give him the option to start legendary animals stuff too! But you have to kill and skin the animal instead of sample it! And if you started it with Harriet you could only sample the animals to complete the mission!

Or let him sew the legendary pelt to any jacket.  Charge gold for it.   There is a glitch to do put the pelt on any jacket.

“If it’s really, really great it will keep going,” he (Zelnick) responded (transcribed by VGC). “I don’t know if you saw it, I just saw the new Bond film, that was great. And you would like every franchise to be James Bond.

“There are precious few entertainment franchises of any sort that fall into that category, but they do exist. And I think GTA is one of them, I think Red Dead is one of them, NBA is obviously one of them because the game [of basketball] will continue to exist.”

And of course there'll be another Red Dead sequel in future. Red Dead 2 sold like 40 million copies in 3 years, it is Rockstar's 2nd best selling game only behind V and Red Dead is their 2nd most valuable IP. They'll be stupid not to make another game.

According to Steam numbers, game is doing quite well at the moment. At least on PC. Maybe it's the snow or all the role bonuses? Or because RDR2 is/was on a sale?

I've seen a lot of new players also.

tFF2WnL.png

Those are the numbers of RDR2, not RDO standalone.
RDR2's STEAM player trendline was flat from Feb 2020 to Nov 2021. Then it took a big jump within a single week. I'm not sure it's related to Red Dead Online - there wasn't a big update when the jump happened.
Also hard to tell how many of those players are playing story mode, and how many are playing online.

Look at the RDO standalone numbers. The player numbers show what a lot of us think and see: the game is on a flat or downward trend. No energy, no hype, no new content, no QoL improvements.

It's like a beautiful garden someone planted 3 years ago. I got some attention until 2 years ago. Since then the only upkeep and attention it's been getting is neither done skillfully, nor with a lot of love, and in some cases it's made things worse.
The trees need pruning, the grass needs cutting and reseeding in a lot of places, there's weeds all over the place. It still shows some of the beauty it once had, but the promised flower beds and herb section were never planted.
The walnut, peach and lemon trees were never planted, so there's no harvest besides the same ole apples we've been eating for 3 years. I'm tired of apples. Got them comin out of my ears.

So what do I do now? If I want herbs for cooking, look at flowers, sit in the shade and sip some nice ice tea while munching on a fresh peach and talking to my friends and family, I'll go elsewhere. No other place has all the things I want, but I'll settle for something a bit less or just a bit different. For now I'm done waiting on the gardner to show up and do what he promised more than once.

Ikr, it would be cool to see the actual numbers.

But it's a healthy sign and imo people shouldn't even buy the standalone lol. Because RDR2 SP is such a masterpiece.

I didn't have any plans to play Online from the beginning.

Maybe Lazystar will fix their f*up belt bug that's been there for over a year.  There's some favorite outfits ruined by this hula hoop problem.  Now they're showing it in promo pictures...

That's because Harriet is there spraying you to slow you down from making too much money off legendry animals. Because we obviously can't have that....

It's why I try to stay away from wearing the ponchos, because the belts look ridiculous hanging out and away from my character's chest.

Why even get this bothered about hula hoop gunbelts? RDR2 1.00 had bandoliers fit Arthur perfectly and didn’t clip with his scarf, then when Rockstar started making patches, the bandoliers started hovering an inch or two and is now clipping with Arthur’s scarf.

If Rockstar doesn’t care about this issue in RDR2, they won’t care either for RDO.

Can't wait for them to drop support for GTA O so they can focus on Red Dead Online.

It's gonna be nuts! They'll finally fix the snow at 25℃ during blood money missions!

75% off all items you already own!

I honestly do not see how they can restore or salvage this game anymore. The economy is in the sh*tter with almost every player having all the gold in the world. There is literally no incentive for anyone at all to buy gold bars, thus by extension - no incentive for Rockstar to make new content and support this game since they make little to no money from it. Which in the end, is all because of their fault with their extremely poor handling, vision, laziness, and zero creativity to begin with. If you look at the first 3 years of RDO compared to GTAO, you'll see just how much this game is left to die. They've been behaving this way since LONG before the COVID pandemic even started.

I cannot stress enough how easy it is to please fans of Red Dead Online in terms of content. It's a wild west game for crying out loud, it's not that hard. If random RedM developers and modders can create a perfect version of RDO with all the content, features, bells and whistles that fans want at the speed of light, then so can a multi-billionaire triple A company like Rockstar. They're practically running circles around the team behind Red Dead Online.

This game desperately needs to be taken out and put back into the oven to be re-worked for another re-launch like FF14, with complete player wipes to start on a clean slate to re-think their game design and monetization. The lack of content, support and the economy aren't the only problems this game suffers from. This game's core is inherently flawed, and I would say outright broken and missing. Red Dead Online is missing the core components that made its singleplayer counterpart compelling and fun to play. When GTA Online first released, it was a perfect alternative to the singleplayer of GTA 5. You could switch back and forth between the two and feel as if they've been worked on by the exact same team. It was an extension of the singleplayer game through and through, without missing a single beat (sans a couple minor features here and there that aren't noticeable and doesn't take away from the experience).

Then you look at Red Dead Online, and you see just how much of a downgrade it is from singleplayer when it first released. From the dumbass timers in every mission, (which completely negates from the slow-paced experience that Red Dead Redemption 2 is built for, unironically GTA Online has no timers in missions despite being faster paced and more gratifying to zoomer minds.) to the outright broken law system (In SP the law would try to arrest you first. In online they immediately shoot you and can't even put you behind bars like bounty hunter NPCs and players can), lack of care and attention to the smaller things like holster animations, getting trampled under bears, mercy killing animals + a proper minicamp for yourself (both of which should have absolutely not been pay-walled behind a sh*tty role).

The lack of attention to prior updates with every new one (For example, Moonshiners introduced stealth mechanics which the player can do. Rockstar forgets that the old updates exist and they neglect to give you the ability to do the same mechanics in the previous updates). And don't even get me started on the new animations introduced in Frontier Pursuits. The only positive thing about it is that it brought quick looting, and maybe dodging gunfire while on your horse. That's it.

I can honestly go on and on about how bad this game and what it is lacking, and what is wrong with the people behind it, and so on and so forth. But at this point I'm just yelling into the void and ranting to let it out. The only hope I have now is that I convince what little remains of the people still clinging onto this game and still playing to let go. You all must realize that even if Rockstar starts paying more attention to this game, (or if god forbid they actually start neglecting their used up cow for once in favor of RDO) and addresses all the issues I've listed above, they cannot un-do the damage they have caused to this game and the strained goodwill of the community. In the end, they'll still be the same company that refuses to communicate, or share insight into the future. The same ones that will not listen to their loyal fans on what they want. The same lazy team that lacks attention and direction. They've set a precedent for how low they can go with this community, and it is safe to say that I'm not here to stick around for it.

I would unironically would rather have Ubisoft handle the support for this game.

i agree with most of what you say. rockstar really let this game go downhill. and its pathetic that a triple a studio that made billions of dolars from gta 5 alone. wont make new content for the best wild west game ever. the only thing i disagree with is wiping everyone's money and gold. i took the time to grind for what i have. i earned it fairly and honestly. so it would be horrible for them to take it all away. after the three years of work i did for my character. its rockstars fault for making the gold and money easy to make. if they want people to buy gold bars. then they need to add new things people will buy. that's all there is to it. it should not be hard for them to make another frontier pursuits size dlc. where does all of their shark card money go? they need to make new games. and continue to work on their neglected rdo.

I would agree until you realize that they'd have to hyper-inflate or add unnecessary paywalls (Like the bounty hunter expansion) to everything. Which means endless and cruel grinding for people starting out or somewhere along the bottom for a simple item or piece of content. No one wants to pay 400 gold for a house because everyone else has that money. This wouldn't even be such a bad thing if they could at least make the grinding somewhat relaxing and fun to do without all the stupid timers and rushing.

i mean sure they have to balance it out somehow. but i dont want to be punished or have my hard earned stuff taken away. its rockstars fault. there are plenty of people who love this game and series. it may not be as many as gta. but it still has a big fanbase. and if they just added new content. then people would play again. i dont know exactly how they would fix the gold issue. but as long as it was fair than i would be okay with it.

if they dont want to do anything with this game. then they should just announce that they will no longer add new stuff to the game. so at least people will know not to expect anything. but what they do now is stupid. they have these weak weekly updates for discounts on stuff we already have. and extra money and xp. it tells me that they still want to do something to the game. because why even waste the time to do these weekly events. they even added new call to arms maps. but if they are going to do something with it. then why are they not giving us a roadmap? or hyping anything up

they recently added franklin and brought lamar back to gta. and even added a famous rapper. why not do something like that for red dead. bring arthur into online and do something that the players would like.

This is a no brainer.  Surely there is a bunch of cut content from SP that is lying around waiting to be repurposed?  Also the storyline that was pretty compelling with LeClerc just stopped...several of these things would help with giving more life to the game.  Being able to do some missions for the gang and having them have a camp that moves around just like SP would be great as well.  Doing the Blackwater heist with the team, etc.

More roles that would allow for real co-op would also be great.  Bartering with other players for money or gear where you have to choose one role out of say 3 and the weapons maker/blacksmith can trade with the trader or the farmer or cattle rancher or saloon owner, etc etc etc.  Unless there is a huge new update coming spring/summer, I won't be playing the game again.  I get bored within an hour of playing and last time just went back to SP to slowly continue a second run through and really take the time to enjoy all of the side quests and details exploring the world in SP.

I would not like to get my gold and money whiped either. Perhaps the only solution to this for me would have been something in between, like wiping half of the money and the gold (if you have over X amount of either) and be given a few totally exclusive items, clothes or weapon skins that would honor and show your veteran status.

These items would of course NEVER be able to be obtained in any other way.

Sandbox? A sandbox is a world with opportunities and the ability to change the environment to suit one's playing desires. RDO is more of an online mess, sure you can run around and do nothing or cause chaos if you want, but they (the honcho's upstairs) control the narrative. And they are doing a terrible job at that.

Finish the darn storyline with Le Clerk already, this game is heading to disaster, at least give us veteran players some sort of closure before it falls apart.

so when does the snow go away? gta online already has normal weather. when can we get it taken away in red dead? its such an eyesore. and it makes the map look worse. if i wanted snow i would just vacation to ambarino. speaking of that place they really need to do something with it. its a huge part of the map that never gets used. but of course rockstar is too busy milking gta to care about anything else.
