I'd actually bother with those since at least they're unique locations.

Now this? This I can get behind. Damn, a full blown militia standoff. Lawmen, army npcs, boats swarming the island. “So it seems it ends where it began”. The Island of Guarma would be so pretty for a call to arms, like RDO’s version of a survival mode on Cayo Perico.

 

The endless waves ig could be an option to see how long a team (or one lone stranger) could hold out. Anyone seen The Harder They Come, when the lead guy has the standoff at the end on the island and asks the militia guys to “just come out” and “who can draw?” The OK corral scenarios are better personally; you pass the challenge of being outnumbered, you get to live to tell the tale, and a little cash to take away in your boot. That’s classic material. But when you eventually catch that deadly bullet in endless, you get to take a slightly higher reward if you passed the initial 10 waves. Incentive.

 

They just need to implement a lobby styled system like GTAO jobs so folks can start whenever they get a full team (or whenever they choose!). That’s the longevity CtA needs. It would negate all the OP enemies too with one-shot abilities. Teams could coordinate better, pick zones to clear, and easily feel like they achieved something better than making it all the way to the end alone and getting killed by a tomahawk / bow whilst having a gold core. You can do everything to prevent some busted ass mechanic but still take a fat juicy L though a cannon shot or melee throw. Not cool. They need to tweak the strength of those while making more areas, then CtA will be near perfect.

Everything you just said is literally on R*, if the game has a bad rep it's on them, if it needs more content it's on them. Saying that the game isn't doing well and then using that as a possible excuse for R* not investing in the game anymore is a bad argument IMO, they need to step up and actually address the games issues and work towards giving the players some of the things they've been asking for that would work well in the game like finishing the LeClerk story or adding properties (for example).

 

I mean they themselves talked the game up in ways in the beginning like how they wanted the camp to be this central point that evolves and grows over time before yet aside from adding the trader table and the stew pop they've done nothing with the camps.

 

R* needs to actually put their money where their mouth has been and GIVE PEOPLE SOMETHING TO BE INTERESTED IN, the pretty game world can only hold everyone's attention for so long before they're craving actual content.

If people were never naturally interested in RDO from the beginning , what can anyone do about it??? This is a niche game with cult like following , not a mainstream powerhouse like a GTA and I’m not making excuses for anything I actually agreed with the post I responded to and I gave an opinion Just like you’re making valid points that I agree with

Google Trends is an absolutely laughable way to gauge player counts and engagement of any game. From Take Two's own words, 2020 was their most successful year since launch the launch year. LS Tuners was their most successful update ever in bringing in players, same with the Diamond Casino and Resort Update back in 2019. GTAO is still thriving and I don't see it dipping in popularity anytime soon.

Hell, at this very moment when I'm typing this post more than 163k concurrent users are playing GTAV and that's only on Steam. We still don't know Xbox, RGSC, Epic Store and PlayStation numbers, which has GTAO's largest userbase.

That's fair and I may have reacted a bit more intensely than I needed to, I admit I've seen more than a few posts or opinions saying basically "It's no wonder R* is dropping the game, no one is playing/buying gold!" when it's not on the player base to buy gold to support the game, it's on R* to supply content worth spending gold on. Gets old, my apologies for assuming you were saying the same.

 

I do disagree with your assessment that people were never interested tho, R* themselves have gone on about how RDO profits have somehow exceeded expectations yet why aren't they doing anything with the game? It never has and never will have the player base GTAO has but it's frustrating having the company themselves tell the shareholders it's making money but then the players are sitting there wondering when that profit is gonna start showing itself off in the form of game content.

According to Steam numbers, game is doing quite well at the moment. At least on PC. Maybe it's the snow or all the role bonuses? Or because RDR2 is/was on a sale?

I've seen a lot of new players also.

The silly mounts were the best part of the original one. If it hurts your immersion, don't use it simple as that! It's not like we're asking for a robotic horse that shoots lasers out of it's eyeballs! Riding around on the Undead Nightmare horses, a buffalo, a zebra and a donkey would be cool!

They don't need to go fantasy, they simply need to pull their f*cking fingers out of their arse and listen to the player base. f*ck whatever their "grand design" is or was, seriously f*ck it. The game has so much untapped potential and the genre has so many places they can draw inspiration from like classic Westerns, Spaghetti Westerns, Modern Westerns, actual history, books, TV shows etc. It's exasperating that they just keep pumping out sh*t no one asked for and even then the amount is so small it's laughable.

 

Properties, proper Heists, Gunrunning, Native American focused DLC, Hot Air Balloons, cars, US Army focused DLC, free roam Outlaw events like Stage Coach Holdups and robbing NPC's. There, I just gave you three years of DLC.

 

"Build it and they will come" is how it works, if you want people to buy Gold then give them stuff to spend their Gold on.

I would have loved to have been in that meeting as they all clap like seals after the guy that suggested Naturalist sat down. Yea, let's put that role in our violent Cowboy game instead of...oh, I dont know...a Hunter Role? A Role that would have still been the same thing in essence (give players a choice) but less annoying and out of place.

In a way I understand what purpose she has in this game. 

If my assumptions are correct, and I'll admit that I tend to be wrong much of the time, but she was the introduction of an exploration element to the game. Her tasks make us pay more attention to the wildlife in a way that doesn't mean shooting it from afar and skinning it. Instead our characters are tasked with learning about the animal, "observing" it, and in a way learning about the world that they are living in. Which was an important part of living off the land back in the day, and something exploring players enjoy, it's just not so important in a video game where we already know everything we need to know about it all.

She does server a purpose, but in a game world as big and variant as RDO is she should have been released with another role for those on the "outlaw" spectrum as well as a role for those on the "homesteading" spectrum. 

Serving one group of player at a time is ridiculous.

i would be okay with harriet and her animal studies stuff if they did not make her so mean to the player. spraying whatever crap drugs at our characters. hunting was a huge thing back then for meat and clothing. even self defense from aggressive animals. its a way to make a living. so to have a character punish you for doing something perfectly legal is stupid. i dont think most players are killing random animals for fun unless they are bored. if they are killing animals its for the reasons i mentioned above.

 

i get that she loves animals. but she should realize that especially in the era she lived in. that animals will be hunted. she does not seems to fit with this game. and its so stupid that we cant defend ourselves from her poison. our characters are armed with the most advanced weaponry that exists in this era. having fought in so many battles. and he just stands there and takes it is so idiotic. i would rather just rob her. she clearly has money to pay us for the samples. so rob her then put her in a pit with alligators and bears. see how she gets out of that.

There are animal lovers, and then there are PETA-esque animal lovers. Harriet is an turn of the century PETA fanatic who may mean well but in the end causes more harm than good.

Which could be a quip at actual cult environmentalists who see their cause as more religion than anything, and who are so blinded by the crazy in their heads that they ignore the negative reality of what they propose in the first place.

I love animals, but there is a way to respect them without causing them unintended harm in the long run.

 

Also it is ridiculous for us to have to worry about killing those wolves that are intent on making us dinner, just so we can go deliver some legendary notes or some samples to her without her drugging us. And what exactly does she do with us after she drugs us? Poor thing is petite, there is no way that she's dragging a guy the size of my outlaw all the way to where she leaves him when he wakes up.

 

Funny how Gus is supposed to be the bad guy in the whole situation but in all honesty I actually like Gus as a character more. Not that I dislike Harriet, her quirkiness is rather entertaining and in line with the personality of characters that make up the Red Dead world, but she is a little too much crazy for me.
