It's almost like there's no new update in development. Maybe there's one, but it's in very early stages due to shifted priorities. I can't expect the devs coming back in January and coming up with a massive scale update within one month of development.

 

Also, the first sign of the Blood Money update being in development was observed on February 4th, 2021. When Rockstar updated the DLC depot for qabeta3 branch. The development likely started earlier internally, but that's probably when testing started on Steam? Regardless, if we are to expect the same, then that would be a month away from GTAV E&E release which would be highly prioritized.

 

I do feel they're asking a lot/taking a risk for people to wait and see still. If ever there was a moment to speak to us, it's surely now.

 

I'm sure even though we'd be disappointed, we'd understand that things haven't gone to plan and we'd give them time. We know the trilogy didn't go to plan and they must have their work cut out to impress with E&E given the generally poor reception to the trailer there too. Plus, and I know others may not agree, but the pandemic can't be helping (though if true that Cayo Perico was made largely from home, I can understand criticism of the pandemic as a reason too given how well that turned out overall).

 

It's all just gotten so messy now I feel and they really could ease the controversy just by engaging us a little better. 

 

Don't get me wrong, naturally I'm disappointed, but I really do want to be loving what R* offer in RDRO. It's an amazing gamemap with such potential that I'm just miffed. GTA:O has shown it can go a period with smaller/limited additions while this game really needs a bump. Just feels weird. Feels risky when it didn't need to be.

 

Of course, if they are just taking their time to have a bit of a rethink and come back in the summer maybe with a bang, I'd love to see it. But I feel given how the last year at least has gone for RDRO, they are taking a real risk if that was the case. Just weird how they could be playing a risky game of it with all the 'easy win' ideas we see mentioned is all.

You can allow character transfers from last gen consoles to new gen platforms and PC!

 

I know, I know, cross platform progression is such an insane thought, it's 2021 not 3021, but hey a man can dream.

this is horrible. its one thing when they dont add story dlc. like undead nightmare 2. but to not even add any content to the multiplayer. that is just bad. i remember how hyped i was for gta 5 to get story dlc. when they teased it. then we never got it. i was upset. but at least i had new gta stuff to do in online. but here no story dlc for rdr2. despite the limitless potential for it. so they obviously wanted online to be their main priority. but they even neglect rdo. this is so upsetting. and yes i know all the negative nancies already predicted this. but i dont want to think negative. i wanted to think. yes rockstar will one day wake up from their stupidity and give us something good. i guess that was dumb to think. i think the only somewhat decent thing from this. is the new hanging dog map. as i love that area. i will probably play it once. and never again.

 

we only got one update this year. and it did not even add any new stuff to buy or play with. just some lame rehashed stranger missions. and like someone said above. we wont get anything until sometime after gta 5 comes out. because they dont want to soil their precious turd of a re release. its sad i used to love gta so much. and i still like it. but after all the neglect this game has gotten just because of their stupid gta trilogy or gta  5 re release. i am getting mad at it. it would be different if gta 6 was coming out soon and they were trying to hype that up. at least that would be a whole new game. but its just a bunch of old crap.

 

and at the very least they should make some sort of apology to us. saying they know we want more content. and that its coming. give us a roadmap. or something to look forward to. they are so busy trying to fix a mess that the morons at grove street games made. that they neglected their huge fan base for red dead. this company has billions of dollars. with so many different locations. why is it not possible for them to do stuff for gta 5 gta trilogy red dead and gta 6. where does all that shark card money go? anyways sorry for the rant. this is just a sad thing to have to wake up to. i cant wait to see rockstar hype up whatever dr dre trash they are gonna add to gta online.

I'd like to hope that there'll be a new update in January / February, but that's just a fool's hope.

 

Get used to the idea that given there's the March release of E&E and devs will be fully focused on that up until then, then perhaps development could start on a new RDO DLC after that and given that even Blood Money took 5 months to create and deploy, we may not see another RDO DLC until August / September 2022.

Exactly two years since the last update of any substance - haven't had a new role or similar, or even new catalogue clothing, since Naturalists.

 

Can anyone imagine a scenario where GTAO went a full year without an update, and where the previous two updates were just light filler things like Special Vehicle Circuit - ? Hell, I remember people looking at Lowriders: Custom Classics back in the day, and worrying that GTAO was drying up, or dying, or whatever - that was three months or so after Executives, and then immediately followed up with Finance & Felony, then Cunning Stunts. Folks back then didn't know how good they had it...

The inability to transfer my character is the sole reason I haven't bought the game on PC and also the sole reason my PS4 still gets turned on. I'm unwilling to start fresh. I really hope it's something that happens in the future.

Ditto.

 

The whole thing gets bloody stupid when you take into account that anyone who switched from PS to Xbox or vice versa with the new consoles is also screwed. Every other online game I know of that made the jump from this gen to next but not RDO or GTAO.

 

Absolute shambles from Rockstar for me, there's no excuse for it especially as they've shown they can do it in the past.

Not sure if it was the pandemics fault. Plenty of other game companies did just fine. We can tell ourselves that it was the pandemic to make us feel better though.

Naturalist was disappointing, but still had a nice ammount of content.

Bounty Hunter expansion was pretty bad.

Blood Money was a complete joke.

Now we're not even getting an update... What's left for summer 2022? Shutting down servers?

4 in 2019. The update in beta, the update bringing the game out of beta, Frontier Pursuits and Moonshiners.

It's even more disgusting that they released Red Dead Online standalone last year in December 2020 (with no PS5/XSX fps upgrade)

 

And only a year later they are already stopping making updates, imagine abandoning your Online standalone in just a year.

They won't shut down servers anytime in the future (like RDR1) because it costs literally nothing to maintain them and there are a few achievements that can be done only in online mode. They may just stop supporting it.
