For context, by this time, three years in, GTAO had things like Finance & Felony, Cunning Stunts and Bikers, and was gearing up for Import/Export in December. :sigh:

I don't play much  RDO because My rx580 struggles to keep 50 fps...but i played several days when blood money dropped and for several hours i was engaged with the Game but the way they are neglecting this game is beyond belief, i really feel Bad for those hardcore players who log in every day and tried to gather more players and support the Game x100 more times than Rockstar does...2021 was a Bad year in general...they destroyed the trilogy and they now putted RDO in a terminal state.

Nice bonuses but what's the point when there's no content? Rockstar f*cked up. That's all I can say about Red Dead Online at this point

There are literally much smaller companies that can deliver multiple quality games in a year, while R* who has thousands of employees can't deliver an update, they're clearly having a management problem.

I can 100% say I will stand with you on this, my view of E&E has been NOT buying it since I first saw it announced in 2020.

Sorry for all the RDO players here, that really sucks big time for y'all.

Lol.  This game is so dead.  It makes me sad really.  Call to arms really?  A boring game mode I can’t get more than one person to join.  With a cool down.  Who wants to be told on their one off day of work they can only play content every 45 minutes.  More free capitale? I have a ton free capitale I haven’t even used yet.  This game makes me sad.

why they can just say no more updates for rdo because was a failure ,so we can finally forget about this game and move on

At this rate I think I’ll just create my own studio and make a western role playing game. Problem is I don’t know how to code or work with an engine.  All I can do is just write very detailed concepts and ideas.

I feel like this thing was delayed tbh. Maybe the delay rumours related to the trilogy applied to RDO and not GTAO as I imagine GTAO would be almost finished by then. We'll see what happens in January, it's a pretty long bonus month, I think they're trying to avoid the actual holidays too as R* likely won't be working for much of the 2nd half of December. I can't imagine them just dropping the game, honestly, so we'll see in January - it's just too weird.

GTAO, they though it was dead in 2014 (they said this in an interview) then more bigger updates started coming out. Best case scenario is either the update is delayed or they're rethinking RDO's update strategy, worst case scenario is it's dropped but I can't see that tbh. Here's hoping.

Boggles the mind.

This game really needs a bump while GTA has so much content that it could easily survive a low key addition like new CTA modes (or survivals as it would be).

I don't get what R* are doing. I mean, sure, if they are winding this game down, I could understand it, but I don't think they are at all (maybe Januaryor early Feb and things kick on, but it's a risk IMHO). But they show how GTA goes from strength to strength with new additions including plenty of fan requested stuff (Tuners, solo heisting etc) while this game's content seems to be less and less is just weird to see.

Really there's just something off with this.

One of my key pet peeves about this game overall. Just that lack of freedom and options we have, and not just with silly cooldowns. Honestly make GTA:O look like it has no restrictions compared.

It's like they're telling us how to play too much and I don't enjoy that. Feels a bit backwards as other games offer more freedom (like Minecraft does for example).

Nothing in online connects to story-mode at all, they are in 2 separate universes. Same with GTAO - lazy ass writing cash grab BS.

Guys

Its really sad. Sad, that R* are giving up on RDO 😔😔. So much potencial trown away like this. I'm really sad.

If not even in december we get a dlc, its really unlikely that we will get anymore dlcs.

From a statistics-based perspective, Call to Arms modes gained a ton of activity within a short time. Became a fan favorite too. That's why the focus is shifting to new Call to Arms maps than more Telegram missions. (In case, you're curious about the statistics, it was observed by @alloc8or, can't say much other than that)

GTAV E&E releasing March 2022 isn't a good sign for RDO either. If Rockstar didn't delay E&E, it would have launched alongside GTA Trilogy. Rockstar would have likely considered that before the release of Blood Money update and decided to deprioritize RDO. Now, I can't see Rockstar revisiting this game before GTAV E&E launch.

Unsurprisingly Rockstar doesn't even address the lack of dlc in newswire article. They sure as hell know that players expect a dlc in summer and winter each year and yet they chose to be silent. They ignored that and haven't talked about the game's future (or lack thereof) in ages. I feel like this is the final nail in the coffin. The game's future is at best a few telegram missions released once in a blue moon so that it looks like the game has some sort of support.

To be honest, I would respect Rockstar if they just flat out said they will be scaling down RDO updates (which they have been doing for ages already) or flat out dropping the support altogether. Their lack of communication may work in pre-release hype of upcoming titles, but as a strategy when supporting on-going online titles it's sh*t.

I feel they have one last window to help this game. Jan/Feb next year they really should look to smash one out the park to breathe new life into things. New ideas and options too. A real rethink and do-over.

If not then, then I can't see the game survive 2022 which I agree, would be really sad to see though given the first 3 years, would be deserved a bit too.

sh*t, I forgot about that for a moment.

There's me saying the first quarter of RDRO next year could be the key period, we know they'll be going all out to push GTA:O E&E and surely won't want anything to distract that from taking off.

Blimey!

Exactly.  None of these tactics are going to make me pay real money for virtual money.  If I can’t earn enough money naturally by playing the game and having fun then I won’t play the game.  Makes it feel like a grind in a bad way.  The grind in GTAO has never felt like one because I have fun usually doing it.  I’ve never had fun with RDO selling goods or mooneshine.  When I do sell I don’t even have the right currency for the content they put out.  There are what four currencies now?  So silly.

cooldowns, makes the greed a obvious.  Imagine playing a sports game and being told you can’t play the second half of a game because you just played the first half.  What tool makes these decisions.

I guess the thing that made me sour to this game was when they changed daily streaks and collector role.  The changes were made to punish those that have supported this game before it was even released fully.  Cemented in my mind that they don’t care about me playing the game, they just want me to be so frustrated that I spend more money in the game.

Sorry for the rant.  I had already written the game off but I guess I was hoping we would get something good this December.

This isn't a bad theory either, they might have wanted to focus on E&E before they had to delay it, and on GTA Online updates instead of RDO, leaving that for later. Then the trilogy rocky release came (and they now are likely helping with that too), the E&E delay came, and no RDO update was planned to release in December. I don't necessarily agree that they won't revisit RDO before E&E's launch, they have a window of opportunity to release an RDO update still (between now and March) which is why I wanna wait for January first before sealing my judgement.

If it wasn't coming this week then I doubt it would be coming anywhere else this month due to employee holidays etc etc.

If we are to expect a significant-sized update, its development should started months prior. At least three to five months. Lack of qabeta updates isn't a good sign.

It's almost like there's no new update in development. Maybe there's one, but it's in very early stages due to shifted priorities. I can't expect the devs coming back in January and coming up with a massive scale update within one month of development.

Also, the first sign of the Blood Money update being in development was observed on February 4th, 2021. When Rockstar updated the DLC depot for qabeta3 branch. The development likely started earlier internally, but that's probably when testing started on Steam? Regardless, if we are to expect the same, then that's only a month away from GTAV E&E release which would be highly prioritized.

No apology needed, we share a similar view on most all of this post. I haven't warmed to this game like I could (or did with the story mode) either and all I can see is the potential for this game to be something I'd love playing so much. But unfortunately R* have their plans and we just have to hope with fingers crossed, but after 3 years now, I believe we waited long enough to see what it would become and it's just missed opportunities.

At least I feel 3 years was plenty to wait and see with, lol. But into a fourth we go. Madness.

Re: the bolded, I can't help but wonder if they didn't push the Trilogy DE forward to make up for not having E&E launch in that window (hence why the Trilogy launched on what would have been the very day E&E was due for release) - in other words, E&E needed more time (and takes priority, because a next-gen version of V helps future-proof Online for however-many years until GTA VI), so the Trilogy got rushed out of the door before it was ready, so R* could sell something in Q4, rather than sell nothing and fall short of revenue targets.

If so, that's turned out to be false economy, what with the Trilogy releasing to a whole lot of controversy (and not the universal fanfare I imagine R* were expecting) - and so now they're having to spend more time/money/resources on fixing problem sthat could have been avoided, which in turn all comes at the expense of other projects (in this case, RDO).
