I didn't buy that "R* is busy doing other things/games" for a second. RDO has been abandoned long time ago. there's simply no more RDO content ready to drop, nothing left sitting on the shelves. pretty sure everything R* had created before/right after RDO launched is out by now. adding 10 new missions/ranks for an existing role could have been the "back-up" stash, the last shimmer of an "update" there was. now RDO is more ghosts than people etc..

 

personally though, I just can't help but feeling that escapism any time I jump into the game and ride through this beauty of a map....and I NEED, DO WANT, my escapism - very bad!

Once a year is fine. GTA only got one a year, apart from the filler updates that just add cars, races and clothes but those don't count as 'real' updates, until recently. Casino in 2019, last year WAS going to be Cops and Crooks but it got pushed aside, and this year we got mini heists.

 

All RDO needs is one big update a year, that's it! Summer DLC can just be the usual role expansions and other crap, December should be game changing content like OUTLAW content which STILL doesn't f*cking exist!

I think the stuff they could add to the game that would bring me back, and I would play for months if it was well implemented, would be a farm role where you could manage your own farm and the farm's business. Something like we already could do in the single-player after we finished the game, but better and expanded.

Seriously, I don't expect anything for the December Update.

 

R* likely planned to be banging hookers and snorting cocaine over Christmas while counting the money after the release of the E&E version. To them, who the f*ck would be playing RDO when GTAV got another version with more content? Now they likely expected to be doing the same thing with the GTAT DE, but now they will be "all hands on deck" to sort the DE version out before Christmas sales so no time for RDO.

Who cares? the only thing RDR has going for it is the STORY! Online always sucked monkey ass and they no longer seem to care about the one thing that was interesting about it, the story! There's still that dame we need to kill and possibly Horley as well as he always seemed shady.

 

I don't blame R*, I blame Take Two. From the start I theorized that it was them forcing R* to make Online hoping to catch the magic of GTA Online and thought it'd be a failure cause 'What exactly is there to spend money on? GTA makes money for the cars and property. Red Dead would just be property as a lot of technology doesn't exist.' and even more so cause we're too far back for cars right now! But no, property seemingly won't happen due to them wanting us to be hobos for 'realism' or whatever nonsense.

 

And 'choose your path' is a load of bogus cause you can't even rob stores at the bare minimum! You're forced to be a good guy, I can't make myself a Micah or Dutch level of scumbag. I'm just another Arthur/John without personality or an awesome backstory and character trait! They let you buy clothes from a magic book, so care bears can't cry about stores constantly being robbed!

 

I can't even meet characters from the story either! I'm sick of all these boring OCs, I wanna meet Arthur or Dutch or Bill or Javier or somebody! GTA Online mostly relies on characters from the story before and after the events of SP and that's what made it fun cause you actually felt like you had a proper place in the universe! RDO just feels like the bland multiplayer that existed in GTA IV and RDR 1

There were cars in the 1890s. They weren't good by today's standards of "car", but they did exist. Motorbikes too.

Let's not ask Rockstar for another crime/outlaw themed update.. Blood Money was awful haha. Frontier Pursuits + Moonshiners were the best received updates and we need more like those. Also I agree RDO can feel like an imposter/wannabe to the story mode which is why I think they should be a lot more ambitious and progress the timeline just as they do in GTA Online. That way they can allow more characters from the story mode to come into online without breaking lore. 

 

Also, bite the bullet and give our characters voices! Hire a few VAs so we have a few options for each gender. It'll bring cutscenes and online storytelling on a *whole* new level. Just imagine your character actually talking in cutscenes for a moment, it would be amaaaazing. Plenty other online games have done it 😩

If we go back, I predicted the date if not the release window of Blood Money update and I'm going to go out and say we're not getting anything before December 14th as the very latest. If we do get anything within the next two weeks, then I'll keep quiet for the rest of the year.... :D I think I've got R* RDO release windows down, based upon recent updates, last year and the year before...

They've been releasing Red Dead Online's updates before GTA Online's ever since last summer so I'm thinking Dec 7th for RDO this year and Dec 14th for GTAO.

 

The week of Dec 13th is basically the last week they can put out updates for both games before their festive stuff starts a week later and lasts til Jan.
