Someone else having hope that the new telegram missions are telling a story instead of being the same like telegram missions before?

One can only I hope, I sure do. I really wish they would end this content drought and get going with new and good stuff.

Qalive update on a Saturday. Likely last-minute changes as Rockstar is planning to push out a new patch this upcoming week.

I just hope I don't get the bug in Story where people say YOU'LL FREEZE! Somehow these patches manage to bleed over to Story

I'm going to go on a trip and visit all the towns and city in the game.  Will start at Annseburg --> Van Horn --> Saint Denis --> Rhodes --> Valentine --> Strawberry --> Blackwater --> Armadillo and finish up at Tumbleweed.

Will use my horse and train to get me around.

A proper goodbye from rockstar to rdo should've been making every item in the game free, plus adding a simple job creator where the community can make its own showdown and races, making the standalone free to play and setting a deadline for shutting down the servers after like two years or so.

The community would've been in great prosperity and the game would've been booming until the last minute.

i agree except shutting down the servers. gta 4 and rdr1 still have their servers up. and they are much older than rdo. i also think they should have given us one final dlc. with some new guns. new horses and allow us to buy boats. and finish the leclerk story. and maybe a few smaller things too. but instead we are getting telegram missions which hardly anyone wants. and we don't even know when they are coming. they could have done much better for this game.

Better a beautiful thing to end soon rather than seeing it rot slowly and die out of neglect. A deadline is a bliss for a lot of things.

A final dlc that combine it all is really wonderful, but the company that cares about respect and reputation is dead a long time ago.

Stop by tall trees and pay respect to all the fun showdowns we had there back in the days.

i have no idea what they ran on. but they are still up. so are a lot of other games that are still older than rdo.  they even said they plan to keep the servers on.

While everyone says that RDO is dead and those who say maybe it is and the writing have been on the wall for some time, then  Rockstar have basically said no DLC content only telegram missions for this year.

Technically we do not know what will happen next year, I mean I am not as optimistic as I was like a year ago, but I do not consider the game to be 100% dead yet. It basically depends on what they say for next year.

you're talking about RDO here right? because I don't remember ever seeing them talk about servers for GTA4 and RDR1.

yes but my point im trying to make is that there are so many games that are older than rdo. and they are still active. so there is no reason to shut down the servers for rdo.

If you think about it, rockstar never actually took risks for this game, abandoning it was being concidered a long time ago. But, right after all that covid stuff and the disappointment of the naturalist update, it was the final nail in the coffin.

After a year and a half of silence, recycling anything you can think of, old outlaw passes clothes, music scores, telegram missions, etc.. man even the enemies ai in those blood money missions looks like they were designed by a kid from 5th grade.

Rockstar soon after the online release knew the risk and decided not to take it. This game is damaged beyond repair,  and the whole rockstar has changed my friend, they would rather focus on the profitable brand new gta 6 online than coming back to work on the homeless mess of rdo. Move on.

The original RDO servers don't seem to be running all that bad from what I experienced. Sure there were a few bugs here and there like falling carriages and bugged out npc characters, but nothing major. I say this because they probably do naught if any maintenance on those servers, that said, the only thing that would be a negative for keeping the RDR2O servers online would be server cost.

There is only one reason that I see where they would find any benefit by shutting RDO down completely. And that would be them literally sweeping the game and it's failure under the rug in hopes that it is soon forgotten, thus maintaining their "impeccable" facade.

Could I see this happening, absolutely.  😟

Well, I had a very pleasurable trip on a train.  Then the internet disconnected while I travelling in the mountains.

Got onto the train at Rhodes, passed through Saint Denis, Van Horn and Annesburg.

I will do it again though and I do recommend other players trying it.

A train ride through the desert is pretty great also, but the ride through the mountains is purely spectacular.

Most of that scenery work goes unappreciated, and really could have been used to promote a kind of trapper or mountain man/woman 'role' or just a general vibe, preferably including something interactive so it wouldn't have to be restricted to the hardcore RPers.

Honestly, they must have spent a huge amount of time coding all those mountains, waterfalls, etc.

Perhaps less than I imagine since we can't access the vast majority of it, so collision coding wouldn't have to be done(?), I don't know anything about that stuff, but still the detail is amazing. You'd think they'd want to highlight that work somehow.

I’m sure there’s plenty of other pics out there from others, but this one is a favorite of mine (ignore the tree in the lake 😛).

VA5jKWr.png

I’m sure they spent a lot of time on it, especially the areas you aren’t supposed to reach. The majority of the rendered map that was made (there’s a cool topdown view on google of it) is collision mapped, apart from a few areas mostly to the south where Guarma is hidden under a non-solid mesh. There’s a few guides to get there on YouTube but iirc if you make it to Guarma you can get placed in an endless deathloop and are unable to return - your punishment for exploring!

As for anywhere else, and from my somewhat short out-of-bounds exploration, the entirety of the north is fully collision modelled, although textures are either blurry or patchwork / unalliased textures of surrounding foliage. The trees are solid, there’s areas you’d feel there’s a natural path, mountains and boulders are placed where no one would ever, EVER feasibly see them. So to your “they’d want people to see them” comment, there definitely seems to be some truth in that. Coders intention to actually allow you to see the unseeable through curious persistency is certainly a welcome one! A QA will never iron out all the creases to a rigid team lead's demands!

There’s a simple method to glitching out the map from the north eastern part of Annesburg, near the sunken wooden ship. You get close to the shoreline from the cliff facing the opposite side. You then aim your gun in first person and start walking backwards. Obviously you will slip but first person (for whatever reason) bugs the character animation, and so what happens is you start “froglegging” (best description I can give) where you slide into the water (still aiming your gun mind you) then hold left on the directional and right on the looking. You won't drown but you will make drowning noises and your health may drop to half and keep taking damage despite not being killed by the current. The screen will shake as you kinda shimmy under the water to the other side. Takes about a minute. Once there, predators will spawn in droves and unexpectedly, so you need to watch out. From here you can head north around another large rock face and reach some pebbles and a dark sand area. You need to do the same thing again only shimmy underwater to a point out beyond the river you’re looking up at. This shimmy frog thing relies on the meshes underwater being solid, as you are literally “swimming” under the riverbed to where you want to travel. Making this second crossing takes about 5/7 minutes of holding down the aforementioned buttons/sticks (so strong hands required!) to safely reach, else you’ll genuinely drown if you let go, and get placed back at the railtracks outside Annesburg. However if you do manage to make it, the entire OOB area is yours to explore! You can call for your horse by the dead tree at the north lannahechee shoreline, and you won’t get sent back unless you die. Here’s a few pics of my 8 hour exploration before dropping down at Rathskeller Fork for some well earned chicken dinner.

On a more personal note, the “upstate” tunnel from GTA3 triggered me to no end years ago because Shoreside Vale seemed kinda a e s t h e t i c to my teenage curiosity (plus the county had some of the best missions). I wondered what was beyond the locked off roads, the observatory, Cochrane Dam... I naively assumed there was another area to unlock. Turns out there wasn’t, and all those meshes were non-solid (so unexplorable), and that the ghost town for the opening intro was placed there intentionally to hide it, squashing my idealised vision of there being Carcer City or a huge state forest to explore. Mods later changed that but still, i always found it strange how from then on every future iteration became a singular modelled island rather than something we see here in RDR (and a solid, explorable one at that).

I think it’s interesting (or perhaps telling) to see Rockstar still hiding external locations underneath meshes. They seem to make certain concessions when a property say as big as the LS Casino and Resort actually get remodelled to accomadate new interiors rather than "shoving them under the rug". I think North Yankton was one of only two times the external area was hidden above the clouds and behind locked code (the other being Liberty City for SanAn, and the jetpack gym glitch to reach it), rather than hidden behind a simple mesh or under the map. But for online, every interior is generally placed under a "less traffic" zone to minimise load times. With the breadth and detail of both games, it's any wonder how they managed to optimize them at all. We've come a long way with the tech capability. It's exciting at least from a virtual environmental perspective to see how they'll go about adding new content in future games, and whether they'll be a strict as they have been in allowing the end user to access it.

Well, I honked the horn, rang the bell and drove the train.  Choo! Choo! Choo!  While it was nice to do all that, I much preferred being a passenger.

This game seriously needs the Invite Only update that GTAO got. I would play it again if I didn't have to contend with sh*ts high on sugar and their own farts shooting at me all the time.

Steam is running a discount on RDR2 and its the top seller. I wonder for how long the game willl continue to sell well.

This current Steam's sale got me back into RDR2 again. I haven't played, since I got rid of my Xbox One back in 2019 or so. I really missed playing it and definitely enjoying it again. 😎 I also agree this game needs IO sessions as well.

P.S. I must have the crappiest luck smh ... I set up my RDO account 2 nights ago ... My camp was put in the swamp ... literally 😂 I may change locations in the future, but for now I can deal with it ...
