RDO Speculation & General Chat (Part II)

Rockstar is still messing around with the installation depot for RDR2, no clue why.

Launcher and RGSC, I believe. The installscript.vdf contains installation info such as how to execute the setup, registry keys and other system changes for when you install it via Steam.

I’m sure that quote alone was probably good for sales but nothing about what was eventually released was new in any way. 

Perhaps it was Dan Houser who wanted to keep Red Dead Online alive, let's not forget he is the main person responsible for RDR2, Sam is more on the business side of things and Leslie Benzies didn't make part of the development, so perhaps when Dan left the rest of the team didn't feel like continuing working on it and decided to slow things down until its official death sentence last month, the team probably just wanted to go to a brand new project already (GTA 6, RDR3 or whatever).

i just saw that rockstar added races to gta onlines cayo perico. and its so upsetting. because i really wish they would have used guarma in red dead online. rockstar really screwed this game up.

Imagine the fun we'd have with Five Finger Fillet, Blackjack, Liars Dice, Arm Wrestling, Duels, high stakes card games, proper robberies, and so on.

That's one of the things that bugs me the most... there's so much already IN the game that we just don't have access to in Online mode...  The games you mention, the stage shows and films, to simple things like clothing.  I mean, there's so much potential in the game and they're just flushing it away for no good reason.

I don't understand why R* never implemented any of these in the first place...

Because they wanted RDO to be just like GTAO and when they saw that was impossible, they just said f*ck-it and let it go.

RDO should have been the polar opposite of GTAO. It should have been developed with co-op mode as the main mode.

They should have continued on with the story they started with. The biggest mistake they made was the frontier pursuits DLC. That was them trying to force GTAO play into RDO - didn't work. No one bought gold.

 

They should release story-mode like content into RDO and make it a co-op game. made that same suggestion 1,000 times and it was ignored 1,000 times.

Better yet, Rockstar should have added a Creator to this game and let us handle that side of keeping it alive, at least for a short bit.

Because it is a good idea, that's why it was ignored.

I don't think that they can admit defeat and by having the players turn the game around, it would have brought the truth to their door. The great R* cannot have the players do what they themselves cannot (will not) do after all.

I think if they introduced proper solo sessions and some kind of new content I'd re-install (depending on the "content").

Or perhaps fighting with the launcher nonsense might change my mind back.

So much potential for greatness, and yet so little effort given to it.

I always remember seeing an abandoned wagon with patches on the cover.  I spotted it around Hennigan's Stead while doing work for Bonnie.

It's cool you can still find a reason to play.

 

I played a lot since PC launch in anticipation of being able to spend that hard earned gold & cash, but was let down.

It wasn't really what I'd call grinding, but selecting activities I enjoyed most that allowed me to appreciate the world and the atmosphere.

I wish I could forget the crap greedstar/Take2Much have associated with and inserted into such a great game.

Went out on a trip on a covered wagon going from Blackwater to Armadillo.  I could enjoy the beautiful scenery heading towards Armadillo as I was sitting high on the wagon while travelling at a relaxed pace.

Sounds relaxing. I’ve been roaming around in and out of Rhodes lately and taking in the atmosphere

Yes, it was very nice.  The sun was setting as I was approaching Armadillo.  When I reached Armadillo, it was dark and started to rain.

 

If I'm ever out on a covered wagon and it starts to rain, I climb into the back of the wagon where the canvas keeps me sheltered.

 

Rhodes is probably my favourite town.  I love rolling into there on a wagon with the red dust getting onto the cover of the wagon.

I must do that the next time I play.  My camp is based close to Rhodes, so I might head to the train station there and go on a train trip.

A train ride through the desert is pretty great also, but the ride through the mountains is purely spectacular.

Most of that scenery work goes unappreciated, and really could have been used to promote a kind of trapper or mountain man/woman 'role' or just a general vibe, preferably including something interactive so it wouldn't have to be restricted to the hardcore RPers.

Honestly, they must have spent a huge amount of time coding all those mountains, waterfalls, etc.

Perhaps less than I imagine since we can't access the vast majority of it, so collision coding wouldn't have to be done(?), I don't know anything about that stuff, but still the detail is amazing. You'd think they'd want to highlight that work somehow.

Why they doing this really I don't understand they kill all hope for rdo and red dead redemption, we don't care about this stupid useless update . Rockstar can go prepare a thousand dlc for gta 6 online and let the red dead world die

Because we aren't profitable enough for them. If only they had really given us, and this game half a chance things might have turned out differently.

Unfortunately they gave us a game with quicksand as a foundation and expected us to pull through for them, but without any help in the form of updates and things to spend our money on, they literally just left the game to sink.

You should take a trip on a covered wagon sometime   Take it through Rhodes so you can see the red dust getting onto the cover on the wagon.
