Dunno where to post this, but this seems like the best topic. I have Amazon Prime linked with my RGSC, but I can't claim my 30% bonus on the Elephant Rifle. Even claimed it on Prime's website, but nada

 

Does anyone else have this issue? Same with the other Prime bonuses, by the way

GTA+ arguably isn't meant for that - new players on the new version of GTAO get the career builder, which literally does that. Although it does have some inclusions designed for newer players (because established players likely don't need things like 'get this specific Auto Shop location for free').

 

Instead, GTA+ is better described as a premium 'fast lane' for all players, because it simultaneously fast-tracks newer players while also increasing earning potential (or giving early/free access to new things, like HSW vehicles) for veteran players. And that's similar to what the Outlaw Passes did for RDO (with clothing discounts aimed more at lower players, but things like discounts on still-expensive horses aimed at players high-level enough to be able to afford them), although RDO's offerings always tend to skew far too much towards very new players (see also: the event weeks months - how many people still need a free fishing rod as a login incentive? ).

 

With that in mind, aside from "Red Dead+" being a Very Bad Idea™ on principle*, it'd also be largely worthless due to the lack of things in the game for even moderate-level players. Or put another way, RDO suffers from a lack of long-term goals and 'endgame' content, so just changing the way people get cheaper basic items is like shuffling the furniture on the Titanic...

 

*look, if people want to throw money at Rockstar to make the grind of GTAO easier, despite that grind being imposed by Rockstar to begin with in order to sell Shark Cards, then it's their money to burn - although I'd suggest having a little more self-respect, rather than willingly treating a videogame like a second job where the employees pay to work instead of getting paid. And that'd be even more true with RDO - with how much this game has been neglected, why on earth would you pay Rockstar more, for them to offer nothing of actual worth in return?

More accurately, they'll call it "new content", which is technically true, in that the event months are 'new', and "content" ultimately just means "stuff".

 

So imagine some boilerplate statement like "Red Dead Online continues to perform well, thanks to ongoing new content updates" or similar, which is a cheap sleight-of-hand trick that makes it sound like they're doing the same thing as actual new assets, features, gameplay, etc., like they are with GTAO (and used to do with RDO, too - le sigh... ).

 

It's going to be ...interesting when July rolls around - I don't think either Online is getting anything before then, going by the last couple of years, so there'll likely be a couple more 'event months' for RDO. Maybe one encouraging sign would be if the June event month ends a bit later, into July (so an event month-and-a-half), or on some day other than a Monday - because that might suggest wrapping the event up in a way that clears the deck ahead of a new update. Or not, as the case may be, and RDO gets nothing again - in which case, I don't think holding out until December is going to cut it. IMO, July is 'make or break' time, because more time that passes, the closer we get to GTA VI - and in the same way that RDO clearly got resources diverted away in favour of "Expanded & Enhanced", I absolutely see RDO as the most obvious casualty if Rockstar needs more resources/manpower to get VI over the finish line.

Another thing to factor in is once VI is out the door, they’ll be polishing it up for day one patches and further like every triple a dev does nowadays. They’ll continue to work on it and I highly doubt diverting employees is gonna be at the forefront of T2’s mind for adding content to RDO.

 

It’s gonna be even worse post VI release simply due to ‘new shiny game’. Would love to be proven wrong on this, but it’s not how business acumen works is it?

Oh, absolutely - not just because of the launch of VI, but VI's version of GTAO, which I strongly suspect will launch more like RDO: i.e., in "beta" for the first ≤6 months, so that players won't get narked by the inevitable teething problems. And from then, it'll be headlong into the first proper updates for the new GTAO.

 

I don't see Rockstar supporting the previous version of GTAO at that point (they'll want as many people to get bored and try the new shiny game instead) - and while 'Nu GTAO' and RDO could theoretically coexist, again, I fully expect RDO resources to get assigned to VI/Online instead, to the point that once the new Online is up and running, they'll probably shrug, consider it 'too late' and 'not worth the effort' to revive RDO, and just focus on maintaining the one ongoing online game from then on (and I don't see them attempting another online for any other games, either - so a hypothetical "Bully 2" wouldn't have "Bully Online").

 

I think Rockstar's ultimate takeaway from RDO will be ...'don't spread things too thin by having multiple live-service games at once', sadly - especially because by culling RDO development, they can go back to putting out quarterly updates for GTAO, because all resources will be on the one game. And that'll be great for the new GTAO, because it'll really hit the ground running in terms of getting regular content - but it'll be a shame to think that'll have to come at the expense of all the potential of RDO, or any other Rockstar online game.

I don't have my account linked, mind you. But from many complaints that I have seen here about Prime and their slow process I would say that you may have to wait a bit longer for it to be accessed. Not that I want to be a bearer of bad news, but I've seen some players complain that it took over a week or more for their benefits from prime to show up or work.

People keep moving the boundaries and are in denial though. This game hasn’t had a proper dlc coming on 2 years. Naturalist would be the last one I consider an actual dlc with decent content, as boring as it was. I don’t really know what more Rockstar have to do to make it clear to players that they are done with this game? There is no indication of a dlc coming either. Not trying to be an ass or anything just being realistic. We will get to summer with no new dlc and people will go ‘well if we don’t get one by Christmas the game is done’. This game has been done for ages. They will announce another lame ass event month later today. And then they can pretend it doesn’t exist for another month. I mean how many people do you think are assigned to this game currently? A handful? Even that many? All they have to do it change the bonuses every month and that’s it lol.

 

Rockstar need to come out and just say no more dlc for this game but they won’t cos they are being crafty trying to make out this game is going to continue to be supported. They want to keep those micro transactions going without putting any effort into the game. They treat the community of this game like crap off the bottom of their shoe.

@VT: Nah, I feel like it's just announcing this week's portion. Like, it's still monthly, but it's split in 4 different sets of pre-announced bonuses as usual. We'll see with the Newswire I suppose.

Investors only look at one thing...the bottom line. GTA alone gives them the results to the bottom line they want so I don't think they really care how well any other game is doing and are satisfied with whatever spin Take-Two throws at them.

This is exactly right.

 

Hope is one thing, but at some point reality has to kick in. Hoping doesn't make things happen, as much as we would like to believe it would.

 

For me, the strongest evidence of R*'s intentions was how they ignored #SaveRDO. I mean, what more proof do people want? That was the perfect opportunity for R* to come out and say they are working on things for the future, not even having to be specific, but no, not a peep.

Nah those seem to be this week's bonuses as there's a bunch of discounts on clothing too and limited items. Remember that despite the fact the RDO bonuses are monthly, they're sectioned in 4 "phases", they just announce what each week will have in advance.
