Gta online was released in 2013 for ps3 so it would have made sense to close it in 2023 but now it has happened 2 years early, I am feeling 2nd half of this year or any month next year most after September or in March for ps4 since it was released for it in 2014.

When I saw a tweet that Walmart actually had some Xbox Series X at list price yesterday, I thought of its superior backward compatibility for both RDR1 and RDR2 and abandoned my long wait to get a PS5. Went PS4 instead of Xbox One but "now I know the only compass that I need is the one leads back to you..."

I've not played since January 1st up until a few days ago as finally got hold of a 3090 so was testing it all out... but I'm bored of it now so will stop playing until there is actually an update!

I did the same thing. Bought a top of the line PC with a 3080 ti graphics card and went into the game, set all graphic settings to the highest they could be set, turned on all settings that were off by default. I gotta say WOW. The world looks almost better than the real world.

 

But I spend my time with other games I neglected for over 2 years when I was involved with RDO and am enjoying those again.

I've not played since November 2020 cause that's when I sold my PS5 and bought an Xbox and thus got abandoned by Rockstar who never supported C H A R A C T E R  T R A N S F E R S.

It looked alright on my 2080Ti.. already had the top of the line of everything else haha, just feels a bit faster and my 2080Ti would also run at 80ºC when running the game but I think I had a buggy card for ages.. anyway..

Still think £1,969.98 is a lot to play RDR2... Lucky I now use my GPUs for mining so will get a return on my investment... even though the RTX 4080 and 4090s will be out later this year... maybe I should have waited, maybe Rockstar would have released an update by the time those cards come out haha!

They'd be making a big mistake if they try and pass off NG versions of the game without transferring, nobody would buy the RDO standalone. Heck I might not even buy the SP portion either unless there was new content like when the PC version came out, the current version looks just f*cking fine on the XBX

I am so glad I throw my gaming PC out the window. That sounds like pure torture.

I get this, but for lot of PC gamers it’s about accessibility. Discounting GPU prices these past few years, consoles are still limited in their use. You can’t run emulators for older games, and you can’t play PlayStation titles on a Microsoft machine. f*ck, even the nEw GeN consoles keep removing ports and drive bays. I thought technology was supposed to be all-encompassing? To have the “all-in-one” for every possible device you own? Most drop even the last iteration of cable port so if you still had that component cable for 360, tough tits. You need HDMI now boah.

 

Somehow I got to build a couple budget rigs during the pandemic and really gave me inspiration to make more in different ways, and to get working on my dream rig. The pleasure as I get older is to try something I might not normally achieve. Yes console is easier, but the subscription fees and limited access to specific game titles means multiple consoles, at which point I’m asking myself, why not wait a year for the exclusivity to expire and get the game on a HTS instead? Plus there’s the entire back catalog of decade old titles I never got to play too, in most cases for free as well!JaysTwoCents, GamersNexus and PaulsHardware all PC based channels on YouTube all offer entry level knowledge to those completely illiterate and the extra time off has been a blessing to find a new passion project other than gaming itself.

 

The only reason those prices are those prices is because of crypto. Then you got gamers happily dropping 3 thousand for one piece of hardware that even a 1080 can do at half the cost. The clique is having the next best thing when actuality that isn’t what’s needed to achieve high-end graphic results. 4K and UHD can be disputed till the cows come home but having 60 frames is a cakewalk and cheap components always sell for reasonable prices. PCs these days are built for the pardon the phrase “dummy” in mind. Everything now clicks into place where 10 years back you’d struggle to know where a 10 or 20 pin header goes. The problem now is many want the parts yesterday, so that means paying scalpers over the odds for something you don’t even need (plenty of posts on this on plenty of subreddits). The guys get those units cause their enthusiasts, not cause they just want something to plug and play.

 

This specific kind of talk also insinuates PC gaming is expensive and it really isn’t. You can even get a decent pre-built now for the same price, if not less than a PS5. That, along with the way consoles are pandered toward the younger markets forced my hand to jump ship to musterdreic. Things will always be pricey, but it’s also being knowledgeable on what your using which, let’s face it the general public don’t give two f*cks about. Instant gratification is all well and good and cross play helps bridge the gap between friends, but it’s truly night and day across platforms in terms of community maturity.

Had a look at the game after not having logged in for over 2 years. Thought it might be nice to check on my character again. I found this situation. Apparently, I left him at his camp.

For some reason Cribbs went nuts and after he shot the horse and chopped the dog in two, he shot my character in the head and then blew off his own head with a shotgun.

I think that's pretty accurate....

But this game isn't even actually on the current gen systems? It's just backwards compatibility that allows it to be played on them sooooo

 

The fact that they didn't allow PS4 and Xbox One folks to transfer to PC when that came out was a cold move though.

They abandoned anyone who switched to PC and anyone who swapped console family with the new console launches). I have both a PC and now an Xbox and would've bought the gmae day 1 on PC if there were char transfers (and have the posts here to back it up lol) but I found out days before release in some rando preview article from the gaming press (it was never confirmed by R* directly) that there would be no char transfers to PC. I'd settle for playing it on my Series S at this point just to catch up on some stuff I missed and mess about in that world again but Rockstar straight up abandoned me with RDO.

 

It won't be a giant chunk of the playerbase they've f*cked off with this but it won't be insignificant chunk.

 

Their handling of the GTAO E&E launch as well was utter shambolic. So disappointing overall considering how ahead of the time they were with the PS4/XB1 and PC launches of the game and now we've got this sorry excuse of support, meanwhile all the other big online games already support cross platform progression or plan to.

 

But yea, I aint cranky about this. :^)

I've always played games on PC since the first home computer came out. I bought PS for another game and got a few PS exclusives, but I rarely used it the past 2 years so I got rid of it. Given the choice of buying a game on PC or PS4, PC won easily. There are many settings in games that consoles don't have that enhance the gaming experience plus there are mods.

 

I use 3840x2160 resolution at 144 fps. Consoles can only dream of that kind of performance. Consoles will always remain behind PCs, but if all you want it for is gaming then great. I'm not knocking consoles at all. My wife and son both have theirs and they prefer those to PCs. I'm considering divorce and disowning my son. Just kidding.

 

Of course I use the PC for far more than gaming.

 

Considering you can get a pc that won't be obsolete for a decade or more, the multiple things it can be used for and the ability to upgrade it makes the initial cost well worth it in my book. By the time this PC gets outdated, how many new, updated consoles will console players buy? Probably enough where their payout will equal what I paid for this PC.
