I don't know about that, after the free trial of 2021, I'm not sure I want to try 2022.

anyone think we're in for expanded roles like the Bounty Hunter one? or will they focus on free-entry content?

I could've sworn this was hinted at in an old interview.  I'd take an expansion to trader, moonshiner, or collector.  Not sure exactly what that looks like, but would still be cool.

One thing I'd love to see is properties and some good customization options for said property.  It would give us something to spend money on which seems to be a common complaint.

I honestly can't believe just how GTA:O trounced this game with one 30 second trailer today.

The 2 summer DLC's are league's apart. Not just in content overall, but in how it's something the community in GTA wants while RDRO's might be thematically what many wanted, its execution and amount of activities/additions leaves alot to be desired, IMHO. Crazy.

I know with the E&E GTA coming they want that game hitting headlines to sell it, only natural. But surely there's room for RDRO to be so much more crowd pleasing and get requested/deeper DLC to see not only the game grow but the buzz/word of mouth.

Seriously, it feels like RDRO is made by a small company trying to be R*, well all except the awesome map RDRO has (but that was carried over from the truly awesome story mode of course). GTA:O is really proving to be that lightning in a bottle, there just ain't no stopping it.

I really do hope this game can open up and become more like GTA, even if it means compromises on the stupid toys like what GTA has with the flying 'bikes' etc. Just add lobby choices and go nuts. Give this game more of everything and much freedom and let us make our game of it. How many crews thrive in GTA and make the game theirs, its a real playground of creativity.

The GTA formula is far from perfect, but given the choice, I'd prefer they go that route. Sorry, just had to vent, I mean, chat a little, lol. I feel for those that haven't given up or that have started to with this latest addition. The missions are fun and all, but it really needs more of everything.

I love this game but it's hurting. :(

It's almost as if Rockstar didn't get the memo that 2020 ended over 6 months ago.

Imagine an update for RDO like the Tuners one announced for GTAO;

17 new highly customisable wagons added
New underground space where people can gather and play Poker, Liars Dice, Dominos and Five Finger Filet
Underground fight/boxing club added
Earn rep in regulated "Gentlemen's Sports" like Boxing, Horse and Wagon Racing etc to unlock new parts to customise your wagons and saddles.

Drop $5,000 dollars to be cordially invited into Mr Brontes personal "Gentlemen's Lounge" where you can make deeper connections in the criminal underworld and gain new missions and business ventures from entirely new faces.

Eventually work your way up from lowly Outlaw to "Made Man" and purchase some of Mr Brontes "off the books" living space and all the benefits that come with it.

It was already apparent that R* has only so many resources to throw around for Online updates - hence why GTAO went from an average of 4 updates a year pre-RDO, to R* putting out 4 updates in total (2 for RDO, 2 for GTAO). But these last few updates make it even more clear that it's a zero sum game between the two games - Naturalists was a meaty update for RDO (and the last one to add stuff like new weapons, catalogue clothing, etc.), and so the Summer Special for GTAO was a more modest thing, made with 'recycled' existing assets (all the usual Benny's mods on existing cars, a handful of missions using the yachts and other older vehicles, etc.).

I wasn't surprised that Bounty Hunters was a bit lightweight (no new catalogue stuff, more of the same old same-old for missions, barely anything worthwhile in the Outlaw Passes), when considering Cayo Perico added an entire island to GTAO. And it was probably a hint that GTAO would be getting a hefty thing this month (certainly looks like it now!) when Blood Money was ...just as thin on the ground as Bounty Hunters. But it's a bit sad to see RDO get slim pickings because GTAO comes first - and if GTAO gets the usual massive update come December, that'll no doubt come at the expense of RDO's December update, too. :/

what is there to speculate? we already had the garbage that was blood money. and now we wait until december for even more. its so sad to see this happen. i feel like rdr2 is the better game. it has the better graphics physics even a better story mode. but the only thing gta has over red dead is the flying bikes or the cars and all the fun modern day stuff. but red dead is stuck in the 1800s. so why should they spend so much time and resources to a game that has a less interesting setting? i wish i could go back to october or november 2018. when red dead was new and all anyone talked about was red dead. and gta was an afterthought. but here we are in 2021. and gta manged to steal the thunder of the superior game. dont get me wrong i love gta and i am going to be playing this new update. but i just wish rdo got the dlc that it deserves. this game had so much potential for story dlcs or great multiplayer dlcs. but all we got was poor quality. im sorry for complaining so much but its just so frustrating to see this happen. its nice to see that im not the only one that feels this way.

I am guessing they have 1 team that works on both RDO & GTAO. Naturalist was big (and sh*t) while LS summer special was small. Bounty hunters was small while Cayo Pericles heist was big. Blood money is small while LS Tuners looks really big. And btw I don’t think in December RDO update will be big while GTAO update will be small. This game isn’t dead in the usual sense but it definitely is to me. I’ll play it every now and then but I’ve lost the passion for it.

December's GTA update has to be large because E&E will come out in November so naturally Rockstar will try to entice people with more content.

Is there a reason why I’m stuck at 50% loading into RDO? I connected once earlier this evening on PS5, each subsequent attempt ended with me stuck at 50%.

Meanwhile, on PS4 this morning, I had no issue whatsoever. It can’t be my internet since it works just fine for other games. There’s a problem with the servers tonight?

When I feel like just kicking back and relaxing I'll go into RDO and leisurely ride around enjoying the world and maybe do a few other things. Hit the shack for a drink and play with the band, stuff like that. It'll be for relaxation but that's it. No more missions or hideouts or things of that ilk.

Has anyone else seen the gold spinning chamber? It changes to white eventually but starts as gold.

Do we know the cost the other story mode outfits being added?  I thought for sure R* would jack up the gold price on fast travel...even though it is cash, its not even the most expensive phamplet although it is worth 100 gold, easy.  52 gold for Arthur's outfit is pretty funny.  You should get the all Arthur's wardrobe especially the tan jacket and be able to mix and match.   I actually like the update a lot.  I don't care about the money or gold grabs.  Nerfs or any other shady crap.  I just find it hard to not compare to GTAO.  Especially the inital heist update.  I always liked contact missions in GTAO.  After 5 years, it was hard to reinvent the map.  They are going way to slow with their "plan."  They just need to give us a property where mission based items pop up as a trophy.  I mean you steal the emerald 20 times.  Never even see it.   Get to buy a railroad hat....whoopee.

Genuine, not-provocative question: is there even going to be a new update? Starting November 11th Rockstar will officially enter the next generation with the release of GTAV on new gen. They have also teased some GTA III-related surprises to celebrate its 20th anniversary (many speculate it's a remaster of sorts). Whatever the case is: their priorities are shifting. And I don't think Red Dead Online is doing much better in terms of player numbers and microtransactions than the last few months. Not announcing any sort of next-gen version, or even upgrade, to RDR2 is, to me, a sign: it's sort of like they're saying: "it's an old gen game", and they're still supporting it while they're still supporting old-gen GTA Online (albeit in different ways and with a different budget), but what happens when everything moves to next gen? Will that not be the final straw when Rockstar says "alright, we tried, but it's not worth it - it's over"? The Quick Draw Club's offers expiring February 2022 doesn't make the situation look any less plausible...

good question... think we'll get a small update in December, like a 10-level Trader expansion.
Beyond that: who knows.

If I look at Take-Two's investor calls, they were happy with RDO MTX sales. Even said they surpassed expectations (or sth. along those lines).
If I look at R* interviews, they have outlined a path for us - which we're still only at the beginning of.

But that's just words. No idea if that will come to pass.

I have the same issue on PS5! I get it when trying to spawn in camp from menu. Had in 2 days now.

Filled a bug report but the turnaround time is <48h

If last year is anything to go by, the winter update will probably be rather small. A few more re-skinned stranger missions, a few new clothes, maybe the ability to have the Christmas theme at the shack all year long like with the Halloween theme.

If R* blames the lack of content because of corona, then they’re full of sh*te.  Just look at what GTAO got in the last 12 months.     But you never know 😬

Exactly, anyone that says 'it is due to COVID' is full of it. They made Cayo f*cking Perico during that time, and let's see what GTA brings in a few days.

Meanwhile RDO? A few missions that don't appear to be much work, weapon skins, clothing reskins, weapon paint.... 💩

GTA E&E releases in November, everyone YAAAAY!'s, RDR2 Next Gen Upgrade is announced (Native 4K, high quality textures, 60fps, Mexico, releases around June 2022, RDO gets a significant Next Gen only Update (GTAO Heists level) around July.

What we are getting now just seem like filler Updates to pad out the time until they can sell the RDR2 E&E version.
