I don't see how lawsuits should have much to do with the sound. They made the Hellfire have that (somewhat) accurate supercharger sound while still keeping the power behind it.

Recording the sound of a real Mustang is not an option, most likely the sound of cars in GTA came from generic build engines mixed with a ton of effects and that's why we have so many recycled sounds, because making them must be a pain in the @$$, I wish we had more sound options, sure, can we have more in detriment to other types of content?  Also there the fact that the game is not built for realism, and as I said before, tell me a game where you can have sex with a hooker, kick of your Musta... Dominator, kill her and get your money back?

I never said I wanted the sound to be 100% spot on to a real life Mustang.  However, many of the other muscle cars are far more accurate to their real life counterparts. In my opinion, when comparing the GTT to the other muscle cars in the game, it sounds way too high pitched, and then is way too quiet at lower RPMs. As I previously said, I'm not just comparing it to real life, but to other muscle cars in the game.

Sure I'd love unique sounds for each car too, but heck I'd prefer the GTT to sound more like the original Dominator and ASP than it currently does.

I wouldn't have as much of an issue with the sound if it didn't comparatively seem so quiet at lower RPMs.

>More famously, Harley-Davidson attempted to register as a trademark the distinctive "chug" of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle engine. On February 1, 1994, the company filed its application with the following description: "The mark consists of the exhaust sound of applicant's motorcycles, produced by V-twin, common crankpin motorcycle engines when the goods are in use." Nine of Harley-Davidson's competitors filed oppositions against the application, arguing that cruiser-style motorcycles of various brands use the same crankpin V-twin engine which produces the same sound. After six years of litigation, with no end in sight, in early 2000, Harley-Davidson withdrew their application

So far, it seems no one has actually been able to trademark the sound of an engine.  That is from your wikipedia article. They tried, but nothing came of it since all of the motorcycle companies said "what the f*ck is this bullsh*t?"

I know, but it's all about money, if a company feel that they had been damaged by other one they will use everything in their power to sue and get their money back, in a lawsuit a conjunction of factors could decide if a car was "copied", and the sound is included in this matter.

The simple fact that Harley attempted to trademark the sound is a huge giveaway that this is an important matter for companies and enthusiasts.

You can't record the sound of a vintage mustang anyways, because they literally had a couple dozen engine options. You could get a '69 Mustang with everything from a 6 cylinder all the way up to the Boss 429. Not to mention, 99.9% of classic Mustangs you hear irl or in YouTube videos have aftermarket exhaust systems and modified engines. I don't think the sound has anything to do with copyright law. Also, gotta add, the GTT is fitted with an X-Pipe which usually adds a higher pitched tone, some refer to it as a more "european" tone.

The sound is fine, I think it could have been better, but I think it could have also been way worse. Anyone who has spent time at a race track knows how high pitched old V8's sound at high RPM. That's why the Hustler and GTT sound like they do. As far as the volume, idk, all the cars in the game sound the same volume to me.

I agree I think there should have been more mod options, but the "Sabre Turbo Hood" is an option for a specific reason. It's the '68 Shelby GT 500 hood.

If I had it my way, it would have had the Franken Stange idle and Dominator accel sounds, but beggars can't be choosers.

I agree that I wish it had those sounds as well. I'm glad you can somewhat understand where I am coming from. I meant it when I said I almost hope one of you can convince me I'm wrong, because I really want to love this car. I'm not here to just be a contrarian and start arguments or anything.

I may not be a car expert but I have been to track and drag events. I definitely get what you're saying about the higher pitch with higher RPMs in a lot of the old V8s, and I could come to terms with that if it wasn't for the "cruising" sounds, if that makes sense. Maybe I'm weird, but I enjoy just driving normally sometimes in this game. It makes me appreciate it more when I rev the engine and floor it.

I just can't help but compare it to almost every other muscle car in the game. Cars where I can get in, drive with the traffic speed, barely press the gas, but can still hear that power, that "muscle" growl, with the engine... and I just can't with this one. I could agree with it having more of a  "European" sound. Which is an interesting way to put it, because I think this sounds more comparable to the Rapid GT classic than any of the other muscle cars.

It just saddens me honestly. I want to enjoy this car so bad, and I just can't bring myself to do it. It just doesn't make much sense to me that they chose to make this sound so different from almost every other muscle car.

I'm a sucker for Mustangs, so it wouldn't be so bad if I didn't already have to go through the massive disappointments of the GTX and Ellie. At least this one looks great and isn't absurdly slow, but it's just hard for me to appreciate it with these sounds.

Let’s be real, a lot of it is confirmation bias. Two V8s with the same firing order and cam timing and exhaust layouts are going to sound nigh on identical. Anyone telling you they can hear a genuine difference between a Chevrolet 350 and a Ford 351 is just hearing what they want to hear. R* could easily just reuse a generic ‘mild cam pushrod crossplane carby V8’ exhaust on most of the classic muscle cars and it would be fine. More aggressive cars like the Peyote Gasser and Beater Dukes could share a much lopey-er drag engine exhaust and it would be fine as well. It’s complete overkill to expect them to source a Ford big block in various states of tune to record for one specific car.

Eh, I disagree there. Pretty easy to hear the difference between a 302 and a Boss 429 for example. Not to mention firing order, cam timing, and exhaust layouts are indeed different on many cars.

Very good example of that would be a 351W in a 68 Mustang and a 351C in a 73 Mustang. Different firing order, different cam timing, and different exhaust setups. They do indeed sound different.

But, I agree with you actually in terms of in game cars. They could just use literally 2 or 3 sounds for various classic muscle cars and it would be fine. I do wish they would stop trying to make every muscle car sound a little bit different, and just stick with one good sound.

So as I said, engines with different tunes and firing orders sound different.

Because its a GTT isnt a Mustang. Just like every other car in the game, small details differ from the real world cars.

Decided to change the GTT to a '69/'70 Boss 302 look over a restomod. Running all my muscle cars stock height and naturally aspirated. Just my current kick. '71 Chevelle SS 454. '70 Yenko Duece Nova. I need a better lime green for the '70 Challenger T/A.

its crazy how the cars they add to gta look more and more like their real life counterparts, starting with the sugoi and the blista kanjo the cars added have been nearly indistinguishable from what they are based off irl.

It's a direction I personally don't mind, but I hope it doesn't mean they'll be less creative in their designs.
