The players that do treat this like Fortnite etc will surely still be enjoying their game of it. The players that just don't want PvP or potential PvP will move to quieter lobbies, but there's plenty of folk that love what public offers. GTA:O shows us this too, IMHO. Public still thrives even though many do stay invite only, or the boom of 'solo public' or 'crew business lobbies' too. 

 

The Fortnite-like players you mention only lose out on killing those that don't/won't fight back, and if that stops them players playing, tough. If they need the easy kills, stuff 'em.

In gta you have to deliver a postal van. You have no way of defending yourself. The entire lobby is notified that you want to make a few bucks. RDR2 is the same. You get a lame wagon, you sit completely exposed, the entire lobby is notified. Here I am, come kill me. 

 

Some players just shoot at anything. Downtown LS in gta is COD urban warfare. RDR2 is much like it. Just take a stroll in Blackwater. 

 

Make earning cash awkwardly slow. Nerf every easy method. And sell the shortcut with mtx.

Unless you love the stranger missions, scrap them. Go north of St Denis and collect heron, spoonbill and pelican feathers.

Take the railway line to the butcher. Far more profitable and you're not so much of a sitting duck.

The only thing I like about Stranger missions is in the ones that have a drop off area, where you can wait out the timer but no one can shoot you. Not so much for the extra pittance earned by running down the clock, but because occasionally you'll draw in a noob who doesn't seem to comprehend not being able to harm you, I enjoy watching them waste all their ammo.

Yeah, I get ya here. I just mean those keen on PvP have the game they want, while PvE players don't so much. They add PvE content but only a little, bit of a shame as I'm just not playing. No chance to sell gold to me, lol.

 

(Not that I'd consider it mind you, just they can't even try to appeal if I'm not there. PvE players in GTA bought cards too, lol).

I hate how my character's lipstick looks amazing with one outfit, but not so much with the other! Why does it cost seven f*cking dollars just to remove makeup?! Can't we have a stylist upgrade for our camp where we can change our appearance for free?

I did not approach him. He was right next to the road I followed(waypoint to Blackwater). I waved at him, thought he might understand that I am just peacefully riding through here slowly to enjoy the scenery. Instead he points his rifle and shoots me. Just because someone is hunting or doing whatever they do, I do not have to change my playstyle or my route.

 

Whenever I cross paths with other players I never shoot at them and they usually don't do it either  If they do I defend myself and move on.. Usually we try to be friendly to other players so we can all have a good time Online and not waste our time and money on a pointless gunfight with no reward to it.

 

(EDIT) Next time I see him, I will make sure to avoid him, maybe cross the ocean or the mountain so he can peacefully hunt and not feel threaten by other players.

Exactly. Point is how am I a griefer when he was the one who kept coming after me over and over again when I just tried to continue to ride to Blackwater.

They should rename all those Free Roam Events to just All Out Death Match cause that's what they all are.  No matter what the actual objective is, it's just a free for all of Varmit Rifle killing.  At least I only have to endure 1 more to get the achievement.

If I got a dollar for everytime some nitwit shoot them dead instead of lassoing them. Or all the times when a player stops next to me when I hogtie one of Crawfishes men instead of trying to get his mark. Ends up with me having to catch two instead of one.

There's a glitch that really messed me up. I lassoed and hogtied  my mark but it wouldn't let me pick him up. So, I fired shots in the air to get someone to come help. Someone finally did and tried to run me over with his horse. Can't blame him, probably thought I was just a troublemaker. Soon as that thing as over I got the hell out of that session so no one would remember my name.

Yeah I’m not sure if Rockstar is using Dutch’s plans for Red Dead Online, cause they aren’t working. Red Dead Online has been our for 2 months and there’s no content. 

 

Gta online released in 2013 and had more content at launch. I’m just a bit disappointed that rockstar said early 2019 we’d see major updates and now they said in he coming months. Oh well I haven’t touched Red Dead Online for a month now.

Today was the day that I finally gave up. I loved RDR1 one PvP modes, but they completely missed the mark this time. The auto aim has been a detriment since launch, but I was dealing with it and holding out hope that we will get free aim soon, but the ability cards are just a step too far for me. The game has been out long enough now that at least half of every lobby has maxed out cards. The two together make for a terrible gaming experience. No one should survive a pointblank double tap from a shotgun, but that was happening throughout the first two name your weapon matches I played today. I was starting to rage, something I find happening more and more while playing this game. Then I had an epiphany, I was expecting something from Rockstar that I'm never going to get. I was expecting the RDR1 multiplayer. 

 

It's like being in any relationship where you're expecting more from the other than they are willing or capable of giving. Once you realize that they're not going to change, you either have to accept what you're getting or move on. In the middle of that second match I just shut the game off and loaded up something else. I loved RDR1, and the single player in RDR2 was excellent. But RDO is so bad that I don't even want to go back to the story right now. RDO has left a bad taste in my mouth and ruined my impression of the game as a whole.

It was left button, right? The replacement is switching shoulders to left handed view. Even that is pretty useful. I hope it comes for GTA 6 too. But what other button could be used for throwing dynamite while holding a weapon?

Delete my character so I can re-make him with no lipstick and a not so ugly face, do the lengthy tutorial (which is unskippable fun), get into freemode, kill and skin a deer, about to stow carcass on my horse, shot by a random person, lose carcass and skin, log off.

 

Now I remember why I lost interest so quick in this game compared to GTA:O

Indeed. Most of us have been pretty vocal about this. Like you said "No one should survive a pointblank double tap from a shotgun". Someone said ability cards add variety but with playing showdowns last 2 months i can say, that's false. Everybody owns the same set of maxed out cards. There's no skill involved just who has better cards. 

 

Maps are huge, showdowns are only 7 minutes instead of regular 10, you run most of the time and by the time you see any action you get shot in the back. 

 

If you remember in RDR 1 gang matches, maps had some sort of epicenter where all players gathered around and killed each other. Not present in RDR 2, no epicentre, just running.

On GTA, you can also swipe up with one thumb on the touchpad (PS4) while aiming to throw grenade/sticky. That could work on RDO as well. Not sure for Xbox though.

Pressing right on the d-pad does nothing while you're aiming, that could be the way to implement it... besides the 4's touchpad of course.

Though R* have told us (twice) about some of the things we will get "in the coming months" (Soon™). 

 

So we should all be really grateful for that, obviously.
