You know for a so called "Lawless" area like Van Horn, there do be quite a lot of snitches and resulting law men. Thieves Landing isn't as bad but still has a rather unusual amount of "I'm getting the goddaymn law!" shouted anytime something happens.

You kick dirt on one of the people there and the whole town comes after you with a vengeance, like what is that all about?

That place is like an obstacle course for me, I've literally just brushed against one of the townsfolk going into the saloon and started a fight when all I wanted was the damn card on the shelf. And after that the lady at the bar will yell at me about starting trouble if I come back. I'm thinking that since I helped her get her place back with the Marshal, she should be grateful and all. Simmer down lady, geesh!

I mean, the door isn't big enough for two full grown men to push through, if that lady doesn't want so much trouble maybe she should invest in a larger door frame or something.

I wish the unlock requirements for event rewards weren't so inconsistent: I did the daily challenge ones for the bandanas a month or so back, and they showed up in the catalogue within a day. I've played several times this week, and still no free hat - not in my wardrobe in-game, or listed as "owned" in the catalogue.

Sure, it's just cheap stuff I could go and buy, but I figured I'd jump through the hoops, play a bit to unlock them, just to show willing (and maybe nudge Rockstar's analytics people into noticing that yes, people do still play this game! :p), so it would be nice to have something to show for it.

Does anyone else have issues with the BH challenge of completing a bounty hunt without killing an enemy or target? I'm curious if others have the same issue on other platforms (PC, PS and Xbox etc) with this challenge not registering despite it being completed as it should (changing sessions didn't work either). I emailed R* support about this with gameplay included of doing everything right yet the game doesn't reward you for it and got the typical copy/paste Restart the Playstation 4 Hold L1 and R1 while booting up the game bs response...🙄 This seems to be their answer to every issue and I'm on the verge of sending a snarky response back to them but want to see first if other players have the same issue on other consoles.

I have the same issue. The infamous bounty in St Denis where you hunt a target who strangling an npc should work but it doesn´t! Sometimes the bounty in free mode works sometimes not and that goes with posse challenge too.

Oi, outlaw, I saw you loot a guy you knocked unconscious! Sure, looting is such a minor crime that it will literally not give you a bounty whatsoever, but you pissed off the law, and we will try to murder you for your 0 cent bounty!

The "crime and punishment" system in Online compared to Single Player is one of my biggest disappointments with this game. Unlike SP where you could talk your way out of lesser crimes or even just apologise and get moved on, every tiny infraction in Online is an instant death sentence. You so much as bump shoulders with someone in Saint-Denis and you have a hundred cops chasing you across the city who have the ability to magically spawn directly in front of you just as you are about to lose them.

I cannot imagine being the maniac who decided that systems like the Law one or the hair and beard growing needed to be gutted and stuff like timers to replace them.

Could you honestly imagine if we got everything from SP, like animal and NPC counts, the law system, hair growth etc just with our character replacing Arthur, and we were given free rein to make our own path? More of a Co-Op game vs Grand Theft Horse Online.

Although I usually kept my Arthur and John with nothing more than a bit of stubble, I honestly enjoyed having to put a bit of maintenance into them.

Unfortunately you might have some players who would find that to be annoying, and I don't think that R* has it in them to be able to make each and every hair style have the variations it would take to make that possible. They just assume that if we want our character to have a certain look we just buy the style that fits at the time.

Sometimes it would be fun just to be an irritating fool and not have the entire law come crashing down on us.

The way that they have the law set up really makes having world building events take place difficult.

For instance, what happened to the street urchins? It would be kind of neat to have certain NPC characters try to pick pocket us or trick us into an alley where they intend to rob us or worse, just random events that we have to deal with while in town.

The kinds of trouble that make camping around in town a little more of a complex issue.

Or what about the ladies who might need help to get away from some nasty braggart who won't leave them alone? Or the rich men that have been robbed and will pay to have what was stolen from them returned? We only get a few of these kinds of events, and although I do enjoy the one where we have to rescue the cousin for that lady, I want more to watch out for.

I'm asking for more dangers on the streets that aren't the whole of the law coming after me for "accidentally" punching and strangling a guy when I am trying to get on my horse and he happens to be walking close by.

R* in their infinite wisdom made our character mute, thinking of how hard the online is programed it wouldn´t be impossible to ad some lines like sorry, excuse me or variations of them...

How they could ef-up online so hard when people just wanted story mode with friends.

On girls they could make the hair on the head grow.... But players are very conservative when it comes to new ideas and stuff. Just look at GTAO. People likes heist and racing so almost all updates have been focused around them.

I don't tend to use the dead eye ability much, it throws my aim off, but I do have the slow and steady card equipped just in case I run into anyone looking to paint me. Unless they are far enough away from me I can move in faster with my shotgun than many of them can draw their guns up to get me.

I've learned not to rely on the cards as much I guess.

I use the focus fire card just because everyone and their grandmother are chugging tonic like no tomorrow. Have been thinking of changing it to S&S.....

I tend to load up my cores and tonics when I ride into town and it's busy, mainly to give myself an out just in case one of those players wants to be a feisty bugger.

Although lately the ones stirring up trouble seem to be lower level players so I've even held back on wasting my tonics.

Sometimes I engage if I have nothing going on, but usually I just head on and do what I was meaning to do before I move on. Most have been good enough sports to not attack my horse, so I have no reason to be upset if they hit me to try and get me into a gunfight, and when they see that I am not interested they go back to killing the NPCs.

What I have been noticing is that low level players are more likely to involve themselves in roadblocks or free roam events, when before they would tend to keep themselves away. I've hit a few players who ran into the fight when I did not mean to, and I felt awful because they were not shooting at me at all. Of course I would send an apology as soon as I could, and I am not upset that they got themselves involved, I just have this problem with going in guns blazing and killing anything that moves. It's also been so long since I've had to actually acknowledge another player that I am having to get used to the fact that they are there at all.

Rockstar sure loves spawning that Mexican guy who gets threatened by skinners and need to escort to Thieves Landing, because he’s literally the only random event that spawns.

Oh, and what’s the deal with the dueling NPCs? I’ve seen them by the Blackwater church and Valentine camp, because they add absolutely nothing. You can’t turn in the bounty after s/he kills the bounty hunter, or steal the bounty from the bounty hunter, even the act of punching them constitutes as murder and tanks your honor to the point you need to feed/brush your horse three or four times to bring it back to max.

The camp around there is uncommon too. The dog and wagon around Quakers Cove is a rare event.

It just feels that some event/encounters have hard scripted rules when to spawn....

The dueling NPC seems broken like half of the code is missing..... Had two girls south of Blackwater dueling and after the bounty hunter picked up the bounty and rode of towards the Sheriff/Police station in Blackwater but passed it....

i hate how being in a posse you have to wear certain outfits if the leader chooses. yesterday i joined a posse. and i wanted to do my buckle daily challenge. but the leader forced outfits on us. and it wouldn't let me do the buckle. so i had to wait until the free roam event ended and i left the posse and did it then. its so dumb how we have no say in wearing these outfits. i even sent a message and asked them to turn off the outfits so i could do the daily but they never did it.

I was reminded once again why I don't bother with moonshiner dailies that involve player co-operation. I invited some folks and was ready at the bar for the rare soul that would join. Most of my invites were ignored (fair enough, I tend to do the same) but one accepts and as soon as they enter the shack the button prompts for the bar disappear and I can't leave it. So I was stuck there like a jackass with her hands glued to the countertop until this player left the shack. One of the few times I try to be sociable and the damn game breaks. Couldn't be more tragically hilarious.

Only using for the opening volley on Gang Hideouts or any NPC heavy event. Other than that it's typically only used when I encounter a rather stubborn Tax Man who refuses to die for the crime of Legalized Theft of people's personal income and thus needs a headshot that has a 100% hit rate instead of a slight chance that it doesn't hit the instant kill part (Because bullets sometimes do some really weird things. Just ask the ISS after Garand Thumb did the 7n6 5.45mm video). Other than that Paint it Black isn't really all that useful in a PvP context unless you had the element of surprise or just barely enough time to paint the target (Or targets) in question.

I only do free aim, the only time I do not is when the "Kill 5 non-players while in dead eye" daily.

To be honest the ability cards and the dead eye feature has killed any pvp enjoyment I would have had in this game basically since I started playing it. Most of the time I get attacked I just parley and move on.

I have noticed that people now days are less tonic up than before in showdowns but in free mode people are going all tryhardy with tonic, cards and glitches just to show they are better..... Usually I take the L and parley, just wished that R* added a third option to the player blip system so people who are up for pvp can find each other.

I think that's just Dead-eye in general but could be wrong.

I miss the old days of near constant free roam events, such as Gang Hideouts and Ambushes that spawned with a near 90% success rate. It makes me sad that the ol' Raiders seem all but wiped out now. Apparently their walking nightmare The Southern Fox was just a bit to harsh on their open total war against them (my bad guys).

I don´t know what happen with the game? It was not fine but the events spawned with regularity before patch 1.21. Now we need a solo lobby for stuff to work but they don´t spawn as often I want to! There is just some few events that is bad honor.

Player Bounties frustrate the hell out of me. The only two I ever took alive was one 22$ AFK from his camp (R.I.P Cripps on that one. Dark Red X hit marker lmao), and a low level I legit managed to ambush without warning because I managed to identify the dude right next to me was the player bounty I got an invite for (player list is a gift on this). Outside of that all have been dead. They either run the hell off shooting and get a 30-30 for their troubles and a trip to the local unmarked grave the jailhouse has, or another f*cking player interferes for no real reason (no their not seeking the bounty either) forcing me to have to pull the "kill'em all" card....thankfully shotguns (much like IRL) are absolutely f*cking scary effective at making things "not live" in a single shot, so usually the bounty doesn't last that long. And quite literally my first player bounty that wasn't done for a friend, was a dead bounty I nicked from a group of no less than 10 tryhards all of "Tactical OPPS Patrol (anyone that has dealt with certain GTAO Tryhards see the red flag present there)" because instead of turning the bounty that I really think the just walked up and dead-eye'd to shiny shi*tlets from word go, they instead had a fight with the other person there. So because it took no less than 10 men to kill one level 20 bounty (for 8$ mind you) and they wanted to grief the poor level 15 that just happened to be in town at the worse possible time. I rode in, gave one of the ol boys the good ol' Broomhandle Brain Removal, picked the bounty up and turned it in and rode off before they could even react.

Long rant aside. I wish they'd do one thing. Imma ask y'all a very simple question. Did you know that you can go to jail in RDO if you allow yourself to be taken alive by NPC or Player Bounty hunters than there is even Rewards for doing so? I know that even here there might be a lot of "wait, that's a thing". Partly because R* failed to even make that known at all unless you actively look in the rewards section of "progress" or for whatever reason pull a "aw the hell with it take me in" to an NPC Bounty Hunter. Because most players just shoot on sight.

Then you maybe know it is bugged!? Friends I played with could not stay in jail for longer than five seconds. Meanwhile I could stay there to my heart content..... All because I had turned off help tips..... And that was something we didn´t know at the time.

The entire jail system is so ill defined and ill explained, But I'll make it worse for you. That reward for spending time in jail could net you up to at least 4 gold bars as is set up like a resetable reward which nets .4 gold each time up to ten times. So yeah....hurts a bit more when you consider that and the fact it likely has a buckle reward as well.

Imagine the worlds richest developer having an online mode set in the Wild West and not being able to actually commit robberies in free roam after 4 years? It’s embarrassing. The only reason I can think of is that the code is literally incapable of allowing it. If that’s the reason then I accept it.  I cannot fathom how a wild west game is so lacking in wild west content. It’s ridiculous
