I just started recently and I guess i'd forgotten how terrible R* is at anything online and multiplayer.  Missions are way too hard especially early, this chase down a guy and hogtie him is the absolute worst mission ive ever played in ANY game, apparenly this guys horse never tires and the hillbillies surrounding the mission swarm and seem to be sniper trained, rewards are trash, prices way too high, fun is very minimal. Why on earth is the bow so overpriced? Another rediculous R* cash grab that pushes people into modding. R* the kings of minimal thought, put it up, rake in paid transactions and walk away.

Rarely even play this game anymore and now I have even less interest to. Commented on a RDO Facebook group I am in with a light hearted joke about Cripps and some f*cking snowflake reported me for inciting violence against a video game character? You gotta be sh*tting me? This is why we can't have nice things or anything anymore. Because some people are such f*cking pansies. God I f*cking hate humanity.

I honestly hope R* continues to let this game die. I know why they don't give a f*ck anymore. Because of absolute clownery in this community.

I quite Facebook because people started to get a little divisive and angsty for my taste.

That and they reported/flagged me for sharing information because of this meme that I posted which honestly gave me a right giggle, see below.

Lol, I literally contacted FB and told them that either they were saying that I was an expert on the 'rona, or that the band The Cure does not and has never existed. 🤔

If only they knew that most of us have said something cold about our old buddy Cripps once or twice, and there are far worse things being done against him. Besides he's a video game character, we've all done much worse with NPC's... right?

Don't let the easily fractured ones ruin this community for you, lots of us are pretty cool to chat with and wouldn't break down over little things like that. 😊

I do think that they have a hard time leveling things off for everyone, new players can be overwhelmed with everything and us veterans are just so bored because everything is far too simple. It's even worse for the players who just want to play alone and not have anything to do with a posse. The more guns the better in this game is how they seem to want it.

The framework is there for an amazing experience but everything you said just combined into a fetid pile of sh*t. Why are there timers on missions?

Speaking of timers on missions, "1 Bounty hunt completed with 5 min or more left" is such a crapshoot - because ultimately, you're just hoping you get lucky with a bounty that gives you a timer that's at least 'five minutes plus the time it takes to get to the delivery point' long.

In other words, if I'm two minutes away from the nearest drop-off, maybe don't give me a timer of 5 minutes 5 seconds, yeah? :turn:

Oh my word, so much this. Didn’t get it today but did get my challenges done. 1st attempt thieves landing, one guy. Figured I’ll rope him up and hightail to the wagon outside macfarlanes, no problem. Get there, rope him up, 5:59. Mach 10 to the dropoff, like an episode of 24 watching the timer tick down and hearing that thump sound. Inches from the yellow smudge, 4:58 arrival. Exhale in annoyance. Second? Back to Blackwater, scope the camp. Crap, not this. The target hasn’t been this way. The target hasn’t been this way. The target hasn’t been this way. The target hasn’t been this way. The target hasn’t been this way. Four (or five?!??) f*cking dead end trails to waste what felt like 10 minutes running around blackwater to find this guy passed out drunk in a bush on the edge of town. Dynamited him on sight, my blood was boiling over. Timer? 3:48 as I picked up his corpse. Got the two dailies for west eliz bounties and 2 within a real world hour which granted me my 9/9 and called it a night.

Thing I don’t get is, If he hadn’t been this way, why does the tracking trail have his name attached to it? And why tf do the trials disappear into thin air? Artificial extension of a stupidly constructed mission. Wouldn’t be half as annoying if the timers didn’t exist. Oh? You’re half a second late, we don’t want this notorious wanted futigive anymore, get outta here! SMH.

On a side note, those free roam bounties are interfering with my gameplay to the extent they’ve become irritating. The inescapable timers are preventing me from accessing stuff and it’s doesn’t seem to matter how far away you travel, unlike other role based events like poachers or roadblocks.

Timers and cooldowns between missions: completely BS design choices.

These totally ruin any chill feel the game might have had.

Along with the fact that every time I recall I've had to have more than 6 minutes remaining for the "5 minutes remaining" to actually work.

Greedstar's motto certainly appears to be "Ehh, close enough" when implementing and testing anything.

And the cherry picking of which glitches to fix is infuriating.

For a perfect example of this giant, neon middle finger to players, see the 'Titan glitch' in GTAO:

Back to the old gripe about stealth: love how you can shoot a guy with an arrow just a few metres away from someone else, and so long as you're juuust far enough, and not directly in front of someone else, that counts as a 'stealth kill'.

Meanwhile, since bounty hunts have strictly-scripted phases, you can follow the target behind a barn, far away from anyone else and totally hidden from view, bonk him on the back of the head to knock him out, and it'll still instantly alert everyone (and they all know to home in on your location. Gotta love that Borg Collective AI... :turn:

Also, it's probably one of those oversights where the game's internal metrics can't distinguish between certain things (like how you can "loot a collectible from an NPC" by killing something like a badger or alligator, since those are technically "NPCs", and claws are used in some of the Weekly Sets, so it counts by the game's internal rules), but it's a pain in the ass that the "complete a bounty without killing a target or enemy" challenge can't distinguish between kills and non-lethal takedowns - even though the bounty hunts themselves can (i.e., if you knock a guy out, the mission still rewards you for handing him in alive, because ...he's still alive! :beerhat:).

Don´t forget that the collective always knows where you are..... it is the same with turning in a bounty as a posse! Don´t know how many times i failed that daily....

I think the AI in the game are very simplistic just as stupid in GTAO.

I don't even mind the Contact Missions in GTA because you can restart them instantly, whoever thought that making it so that all missions were timed with no way to restart them immediately needs a f*cking paddling. Time and lower our payouts if we are late but don't f*cking just end the mission after all the time I just put in.

Troll more. I was level 12ish at the time of that post and the missions don't really state what the parameters will be or what's going to happen aside from "hey do this" and suddenly upon going to said location am swarmed by NPCs or players that I can only assume suffer from aspergers.

Stock horse, stock guns etc on starter missions with no warning how hard things will be and R* terds like you that make these games a travesty in addition to R* own failings. No mission trackers, timed missions, the free roam sh*t missions over and over or just hunting and fishing simulator (providing youre high enough level  to unlock a friggin pole, the content locks in this game are idiotic) until you can level/earn enough to actually play the parts of the game we wanna play and then stir in some moronic stink-mouthed sweaty try hards and you have a recipe for a sh*t game despite the simps and modding fanbois, i was happy when Ozark got shut down. I'm not spending money for gold when I dropped $60 bucks for the version with online for an older game. These devs make blizzard  like brilliant minded saints.

Rarely play this, but even when I do, it's frustrating. I join on friends, yet they're too far away to see on the map by the time I load in so I have no idea where they are. Then no text chat? How the hell do you play with friends???

And for missions... GTA is so easy compared to this. How do you invite friends/skill matched players/crew members/current session etc?

With regards to doing missions at low level, the solution to beating the timers is getting as good a saddle & stirrups as possible as early as possible, and a fairly decent horse (any mid tier horse you like the look of will do).

OnlyPvPCat made a good guide, it's a couple of years old, but since we haven't gotten anything significant added in a very, very long time it's still relevant.

Good saddle and stirrups will makeby upgrading to a  missions sooo much easier, the horse is then a matter of preference.

The best horses are still better, but you'll get way more benefit by upgrading saddle & stirrups as soon as you can, but since they're level locked it will still take a little patience, but after that things will go much smoother.

Some missions are almost impossible without a saddle upgrade.

The swarms of NPC enemies often require different tactics depending on the location and it's available cover.

Card selection, which is obviously severely limited early on, will later play a part, but using cover and/or range is generally key to wiping out a swarm of baddies.

It will take some trial and error to work out what works best for you, for example one of the missions features mainly shotgun armed enemies who have to cross a shallow river, so the river slows their approach and using cover outside of their range allows you to pick off the closest ones with a rifle before they can overwhelm you.

sometimes getting in close with your own shotgun works best.

Hope that's a help.

might not be the fitting thread really, but, do you know that feeling when you stumble upon your "arch enemies" during CONDOR EGG?

"panic. it crept up my spine like first rising vibes of an acid frenzy"

kimjo1972, alc0120something, tata12something, mysterycat etc you know who you are ;)

god-damn they're good, they know their sh*t - but so do I! well, whenever I see them on the player list attending the event I know it will be quite difficult to get to the egg first. today kimjo got it not even 15 seconds in and I wonder where the f*ck it was really! jeez louise!

What's funny is that GTA Online rarely ever has timers in missions, despite being a more fast paced game for zoomers, while Red Dead is built for a more mature, less ADHD playerbase.

All of this could be solved if they designed missions based on efficiency rather than time. (E.g headshots, how much damage taken, etc etc.)

What exactly do I need to do, in order to catch a f*cking break around here. This kind of sh*t makes me wanna have incendiary rounds whenever I run into predator based legendaries for this very reason. I’d rather burn 25.00 materials at that point.

If you gonna screw legitimate play over for a cheap 100% dynamic based kill what’s the point? Someone else could just take it after I die, and I’m even less inclined to chase after it when I do everything feasible to succeed. Why even notify the player it’s sedated at all if it doesn’t y’know… GO TO SLEEP?!? *Sigh*

EDIT: I hate bears.

Do you guys think it would be a good idea to have FiveM/RedM threads for the online section of both games? I think discussing the servers and the stories would make things lively, especially for RDR 2. I think it would be a nice way to introduce lots of newcomers to those servers as a solid and grounded alternative to RDO/GTAO.

Also, it would just be nice to discuss and actually play an idealized version of RDO here for once, and help us forget our misery. :cringekek:

RDO's big problem (IMO, but I'm sure a lot of people would agree) is that there isn't enough new stuff, compared to GTAO - new fancy cars and properties are an easy way to soak up money in GTAO, but there's just nothing comparable in RDO, and the game's been getting the short end of the stick when it comes to updates in general. Imagine being able to buy a flat in Saint Denis for $1,000, or throw some gold bars at a carriage or wagon - more updates and more money-sinks would solve both the 'lack of content' problem, and the 'players stockpiling money and not needing to buy microtransactions' problem (a problem for Rockstar, at least), in one fell swoop.

What RDO doesn't need, though is some new method of monetising the existing content for very little effort - because who on earth would want to spend real money every month to get discounts and freebies (for stuff we likely already have!), all while not having anything new, or any reason to spend our stockpiles of $$$ and gold - ?? And yet, there are people actually suggesting that - somehow missing the point that GTA+ isn't actually adding anything to the game, and so a hypothetical "Red Dead +" wouldn't do anything to add to the game experience. I.e., RDO is suffering from neglect - not 'under-monetisation', FFS... :rol:

I would pay them a one time fee to drag my gunslinger's pretty little behind out of RDO and transfer him into an offline story mode map in a heartbeat though.

If they don't want to update the game anymore, fine. I want my character offline and in a robust map full of "life" that cannot have any outside interference to designate how I play.

Logged in for the first time for a few months earlier and it’s honestly depressing the state this game is in. Did a stranger mission with a 30 minute timer couldn’t be bothered to wait for a good pay out and logged off. Honestly hats off to all of you still playing this everyday you’ve got more patience than me.

The game has been going for roughly 3 years and has yet to progressed much. Though I like to play several hours a week for the cowboy simulation, I long for the immersive gameplay which GTA Online to some degree achieved doing. Where is the purchase of properties/houses and the businesses that exceed the quality and immersion of the current roles? Why do we necessarily have to live in the f*cking outdoors like we are hermits? Where is the wide array of clothing that matches the fashion of the 19th century through every social class? Why don't we have more available vehicles like light weight carriages and boats? What about air balloons? Where is the opportunity to truly develop an identity to the character immersed in a (slightly) RPG-driven world?

Why the hell would Rockstar flunk RDO so hard when it was literally their latest title before GTA VI and yet for a long time? RDR2 is proven evidence of how Rockstar exceeded all their past titles in terms of gameplay, graphics and world design and yet they chose not giving a sh*t promoting that to its fullest potential? What a damn shame.

Wastelander (Suzuki)

You know for a so called "Lawless" area like Van Horn, there do be quite a lot of snitches and resulting law men. Thieves Landing isn't as bad but still has a rather unusual amount of "I'm getting the goddaymn law!" shouted anytime something happens.
