I'm thoroughly convinced rockstar will never deliver anything good or groundbreaking ever again. Christmas and summer updates is the laziest way for them to boost numbers during the seasons you should be spending with your friends and family or going outside, rated m for mature but they cater to kids and their schedules. GTA V spanning three consoles? I'm over it. 2025 in rockstar speak means 2030, but as far as RDO, I haven't touched it since April or May, I got sick of being disappointed every week. I only started in December and I'm not even mad, it cost like 8 bucks. But I'd have spent way more for something better, I have a job lol

 

Be like me, give them the middle finger for once and ignore their update. Or enjoy it, you waited long enough and you deserve it. Either or

This reminds of when they first added the Casino open roof in GTAV freeroam I was so amazed at it being outside and added it with hot tubs, the public pool too but made it out side in the war zone, could have been a good place where people could just meet peacefully publically but nope... The clubs are something finally but there should be more so people actually don't have the urge to kill one another for once in these games like a non kill hub, should have been in it by now.

 

Ya those events in both games ruin relations entirely with daily player kills, I don't think they will ever have players coexisting peacefully in the freeroams same old story there's less profit in peace for the company though, they lose loyal player base but gain newbs wanting to kill like CallOfDuty.

It's unfortunate because from most of the RDO players that I have encountered, we all just want to be able to feel safe enough to say hello to one another without that slight bit of hesitation that will put a brakes on our good intentions. Unwanted PVP has tarnished the game to the point that players typically do not trust one another and therefore will avoid each other at all costs.

They want us to be a community, than give us the means to have positive interactions.

 

I hate the fact that I have a hard time telling the difference between a player who is roleplaying the dangerous bandit over the player who is just out to blow me apart with explosive rounds to get a laugh.

This game is a lot of fun to play with my aging father, when we're not getting attacked by griefers. What is the point of defensive mode again? To make it easier for people to kill you? That's what it seems like. I mean, I got switched back to offensive the moment I returned fire on the RED an HOSTILE players that I couldn't lock on to.

Defensive mode is basically just a way of telling other players you are not intending on taking part of PVP activity while in free roam. It is not a way to protect you from attack unfortunately, and it only makes it harder to fight back because you cannot retaliate effectively until it is deactivated. I've learned that being in defensive tends to draw more unwanted attention to myself than if I remain in offensive mode, actual griefers will target defensive players on purpose.

Hate to say it but there is not real way of getting out of being attacked by other players in this game unless you can find a way to get a solo session.

Haven't played RDR2/RDO since february/march, and haven't visited this fora since then .. What is the word on the street ? Is this game getting any better, or is it about time to free up some disk space (delete the game..)

 

All three of us (me and my two grown up sons) kind of lost the interest (cheaters, hackers, bored) - so if someone could please sum up what is going on (good or bad) .. This thread is quite long, and it will take forever to read it ..

I've kind of developed a strategy; if they attack me while I'm in defensive I run away on my horse while switching to offensive and explosive rounds, then I double back and about the time I change to offensive I open fire on them I do that because I seem to have the opposite problem of you, if I'm already IN offensive then people ALWAYS attack me. It is very rare that I get attacked in defensive.

But if you feel underwhelmed, so be it. But as my post says, I don't care if you are "done" and are "leaving RDO forever" (even though we all know better). Nobody cares if (insert poster name here) is not playing the game anymore. Fine, go live your life. Don't bother posting about it though, because nobody cares that you aren't playing anymore.

It's pretty easy for veterans of the game to spot what R* is doing here. Drip feeding the outlaw pass, and tweaking stranger/telegram missions for an 'update'. You can't be shocked that many players are hesitant to be excited after all this time.

I gotta agree. It doesn’t matter the theme if they aren’t adding new systems. That trailer looked like more of the same. Mining for jewels would  be cool and would be an actual system that players could freely do their own thing with like hunting/fishing. But more pew pew stick up make it to the checkpoint before being killed by baddies . No thanks G.

Just saw the "good" rewards from all 4 drip feed outlaw passes and man does most of that shi t look bad. I guess it will never be as bad as the fake beards and turquoise snake jackets but just knowing thats all were getting through to october is pretty disappointing

People, like always, are getting gold dust blown into their eyes by R*'s slick trailers and clever wording only to realise when the DLC is out that the gold is actually sh*t, and they now have pink eye.

 

Look past the razzle-dazzle and you will see; reused Strangers, another premium currency, grindy busy work collecting "Capitale", one Heist after all that and even more dripfeed.

Yessir, that last outlaw pass was horrendous.

The signs were there, in some of the earlier outlaw passes. Horse masks, Face masks, Hot Topic skull banana, Grayskull sword and the Lemat "bug" skins (21 goldbars). The Gus animal hoodies... yeah this sh*t ain't, Lonesome Dove.

I do get shot at when in offensive, but most of them are players who just want a gun fight in the streets and they never use the large rounds. We'll share bullets for a bit and move on when we both are done. I'm all about having a random gunfight in the streets, sometimes those end up drawing in more players and than it gets really interesting.

 

It's the ones who like to blow me up or light me on fire while in defensive and continue the use of said ammunition that I am talking about. I know they are doing it just to force me out of defensive mode, and they know that they can get a few kills on me before I change to offensive and have an honest chance at fighting back. Usually they kill or down my horse with explosives so my escape is limited and I'm forced to hunker down and defend myself. 

Lol, I just find it funny because even if they do end up killing my main horse my replacement is typically one of my other Turks so if I can get to him/her I am out of dodge faster than they can blink. Than I tend to take your advise and spawn my wilderness camp and fast travel to another location, that does tend to tick them off.

This right here... We veterans know, we've seen, and we've been kicked in the face enough times to know that we would be smart to keep a wary eye on this update. Our feelings toward the matter are not selfish, they are the product of how the company has played us and treated this game up until this point.

I am hoping beyond hope that this update is a fresh start for RDO and the sign of good things to come. But I will keep my excitement to a minimum until I see it for my own eyes, than I'll pass judgement.

 

And I'm hoping that the Pass has better stuff than the last one.

I hate feeling powerless against people that play this way. It’s like being brought into a war room as a pacifist, i don’t belong there because it’s not who i am as a player. I’m then forced to make an executive decision and either, a: leave and lose all my pelts and carcass or b: fight pathetically and feed their ego, + lose all my pelts and carcass. There’s no inbetween for me. Some might say go afk and let them get their rocks off but again, at whose expense? I didn’t load this game to go afk and let DishonorCowpoke420 get his kicks. Come back and maybe sell my hunting meat for half the cost.

 

I just wanna make some progression with likeminded players without fear of being trolled. Rn I am literally waiting for my friend to get back from his holiday so we can hit up the story missions because the trouble I’ve had trying to play legit is excruciating. Makes me wish ever so slightly I still had my xbox.
