Yeah, or "town" anything.  Often it doesn't have to be "THAT FAR", like in the example I gave I could still see the "fence" barn, but was far away enough from it that I could make the

Wilderness Camp.

 

It is problematic somewhere such as around Rhodes, where it seems to count all the "fenced farmland" as "town/civilization"; so there you want to make sure you are heading to forest/grassland/more

wild looking area. As you say, you get kind of a feel for where it works.

what the hell is wrong with saloons today? i've hit every single one and not a single one of them will serve me booze , the option is greyed out!!! and of course it has to happen when its a daily

My camp changed his position 3 times for 2 f*ckin' minutes...

I can't even go to hunt, because the camp will be on different position when i back...

It seems to be their new way of combatting disconnects.

As always, there are good and bad points about it.

on xbox I haven't seen over 12 players in the session in a very long time.

He just noticed lobby switching removes fortified cores? It's been doing that a looooooooooooong time. Maybe now since more people are noticing it R* will get a lot more complaints. I know the ones I've sent about it have done no good.

 

Now, if they just open solo lobbies permanently it would be nice.

 

So they've been spending 100 hours per week working on getting lobby sizes back up over 30 while keeping the game semi functional. Their insistence on large lobbies. 🙄

 

Server switching may be ok for lowering disconnects but if the camps keep moving, cores keep losing fortification, etc, that really isn't a good trade off IMO. My opinion is based on the fact I rarely get disconnected anyway so people who have the disconnect issue will probably disagree with me.

This game and GTAO both need multiple lobby types. 

  • Friendly (like everyone is in the same posse)
  • PvP (like what we have)
  • Roleplaying (stay in character in chat)
  • No weaponized vehicles (for GTAO)
  • and more...

I just went into the game for a bit (PC) and the lobby was 12 people steady. There have been times in the recent past where they upped the population but it didn't last more than a few days so we'll see.

When you see a lobby with lots of people, take note of how many posses there are. If there are already 12 people and a posse leader starts to invite his friends in, the lobby can swell up a bit til people leave.

Yeah, some good, some bad.

I think he was just noting that the 'invisible' switching removes your core buffs, but you don't lose mission progress.

Glitch fixing certainly doesn't seem to be anything of a priority unless it's to enable something THEY want, it's not for the direct benefit of players.

As I said, it didn't benefit anybody in an afternoon PS stream today, they all got disconnected after playing some pvp modes and after every FRE. That's why I watch that particular streamer: they do a variety of activities to keep the game fun, and it's often things I don't know about or get to do so it's educational for me, plus I get to share things I've learned here that they might not know, so I get to help spread info for other players' benefit.

I'm happy to spread any info I can offer to help players get an edge over the game.

It feels like an 'us vs them' situation.

 

Proper servers would likely fix most technical issues with the game, rather than spending all the hours they do figuring out any other way around the problems.

They just won't admit they're wrong.  🙄

Welp I've given up trying to replace outfits, was trying to once and awhile, some would be there sometimes one or two missing but something there. Now no Hats now on the horse or store, no outfits except the one I'm wearing logged out. It's been an ongoing fight I guess that most people are having I gave up because it got worse to actually unusable wardrobe.

 

Used to be they'd be just off the horse, then it went from some missing, now to none all wiped. Tried remaking them yesterday for just desert and cold, they're gone today when I logged in with no hats... Takes way too long remaking these properly, just gonna sweat or freeze to death I guess, with no fix in sight from our R* overlords. What's it been, like a month or two with this newer issue getting progressively worse?

I finally got an infamous bounty to work yesterday: it was Roache from the St.Denis poster.

I've tried Rhodes, Emerald Stn., Valentine, Blackwater, Armadillo, & Tumbleweed posters and none of the infamous bounties worked.

I'd get a single black screen then back to normal freeroam with no mission started.

 

edit: today one from Emerald Stn. worked.

Could it be fixed?

the old PS4 MTU 800 workaround on GTA online now works on RDO 

 

edit : you'll just have trouble getting into your moonshine shack for a few seconds , no big deal for me anyway

Cool, cool. That'll bring me back for now for sure.

 

With any luck it'll make it to R*'s 'can't be bothered' list that most things end up on, or can't be fixed, lol. But will enjoy it while it lasts and it'd be cool if it grows popular while R* make plenty of cash for papa T2 and they see it won't hurt the bottom line.

 

Though I'll expect a fix asap of course. How dare we play how we want after all. 🤣

I never had it CONSTANTLY removing mine, when OTHER people evidentially do it/leave/join like lately

(it isn't putting me into a solo lobby either, still around 12-14 people on Xbox One (as other Xbox player said never really goes above 12 or so ) ?)

 

I mean, it is literally 5 seconds to less than a few minutes that my gold cores/tonic buffs go "poof!"

This has only been happening to me within the last couple weeks, this much.

 

I've played since the beta of online, never having it happen THIS much while I'm in the SAME

lobby myself the entire time (or are you guys saying I'm switching lobbies without even knowing?)

 

I think 30 minty big game, 30 thyme, 30 oregano are enough, but I guess NOT!

 

By the way, I might not notice if it is me that is switching since my camp never changes position during this; that may be because I'm persistent,

with the 7 person camp (which never seems to be "already taken/contested" in Hennington's Stead, where hardly

anyone else has a camp.)

Oh, by the way, my mentioning how the wilderness camp can be a good way to escape people trying to PVP you:

 

Today I was just trying to cook some food, for the daily or something at one (in defensive, as always.) All of a sudden, two guys(players) ride right into the camp

while I'm doing that and I see explosions go off around me (right on top of me, basically.) My character isn't hurt/or reacting at all,

while I'm still sitting at the fire with the "cook/craft" menu. Then I casually back out of the menu while those guys are continuing

and then hit fast travel to my camp.

 

So it appears you are invulnerable to other players while just AT that wilderness camp?

In that case, it may have been that I was not initially involved in PVP with them (but they approached later, out of the blue.)

 

This wilderness camp was as close as I could be to Valentine, while still having a "wilderness camp"; I'll have to try it again, since

good ol' Valentine seems to attract griefer types  ;)

Sound Familiar? Also sounds [a bit] concerning; they are literally trying to replace random events and NPCs with players, going to be honest I am not for that. GTAO is already chaotic, and since this seems to be in a state of integration with RDO (cannot speak for GTAO; I do not play it), RDO is probably going to get a whole lot more chaotic as well. Ugh.

This makes me think about how we have been such a F**king testing ground [and a neglected one at that]. For all we know whenever the Expanded and Enhanced Edition for GTA V comes out they might get San Fierro and Las Venturas, while we might also get a "Service for Red Dead Online has been discontinued". I mean we are damned if we do and damned if we do not [leave], some of us really enjoy this game while we get zilch. We did not make them money at first serve (launch for RDO) and now we/our game is already dead to them. It's sad because GTAO will continue to be a success (assuming this new server system does not actually destroy it), and only money talks to T2 not our own voices. 😞

Did 2 bounties in Fort Mercer and both times I had a player hanging around! Did a mission for the daily in Pike´s Basin! In the later one a player was in full action to kill my targets! And by doing so they triggered the timer! Ad then R* timers to that and it is a mess!

 

Is there so little content that other players need to lich of other players content to have something to do?!

 

And second haven´t players seen a bounty wagon in action?

 

I could write a essay on the reasons why I not going to buy gold when the game is in this state!

All it takes is a lobby merge. You don't have to merge into another lobby, others merge into yours.

 

On PC the gold removal has been happening a long time. I've sent 8 tickets about it.

I've said it before. They don't need RDO for the sake of the stock holders. GTAO is their bread and butter and as long as that does as well as it does RDO is disposable.

found one slight issue with the MTU trick , since the game will never stop trying to put you in a normal session , every random event despawn at each attempt , and there are a lot of them

Check and see if your camp and moonshine shack icon continually cut off and on. If so then you won't be able to accomplish much of anything since it's continually resetting your server.

aside from random events everything works , even if shack icon cut off and on , just have to wait for a few seconds to get in sometimes

Yeah. Everything will disappear briefly when it's going through a reset. It's pretty annoying. There is a program for PC that gives solo lobbies but the same thing happens when using that program. Only time the reset doesn't happen is while you're in camp or inside the shack. It would disconnect you after a while also.
