If I have to deal with one more random person griefing me on stranger missions omg. I've been getting a lot of deliveries on stranger missions and the past few days this is exactly how it goes. I'll be riding by on the delivery passing another player. I don't see them with a weapon drawn so I always try to be nice and just pass by. They'll ride past me, wait a few seconds and then boom I'm dead it's like they just can't help themselves. Then they'll take the wagon only to destroy it or have me catch up to them and take it back. WTF!! I wouldn't even be so mad if they stole the wagon and tried to get money for themselves but its just to annoy me. Needless to say when the mission is done I proceed to hunt them mercilessly until they switch sessions. I've chased people across the entire map IDC, I got time today. You greif me, guess what there's not much to do in RDO anyway so let the games begin buddy.

Here would be my proposals to "fix" or improve the current free roam experience

 

Hunting - Legendary animals can spawn in place of a normal animal. E.g. Legendary bear could replace a normal bear or a normal animal in tall trees for example. 

Fishing - Chance of legendary fish replacing one of the normal fish.

Stranger Missions - Different "Tiers" Lower tiers like delivering mail and such don't invite other players to intervene, higher tiers could be stuff like robberies and such which can invite other players.

Free mode events - Don't have events that teleport you or have a restricted area. Maybe have events like "Gold Rush" where you deliver bags from an area to another to gain a good amount of nuggets or something. Also have more spontaneous free mode events.

Hideouts - Just add more objectives rather than have a simple kill or let the leader survive. Pikes basin had the points you had to blow up in first red dead, Gaptooth Breach had the gold cart thing you had to push, maybe have different objectives. Also allow people to replay the hideout.

Treasure maps - Alright as they are tbh maybe have an event where everyone is sent a picture of treasure map location via the post office and people can try figure out where it is.

 

Also they still need to add more stuff like gambling and the likes but atm the current stuff we have is quite boring

Hopefully. R* said 30 days before the game was released, now it's been almost two months.. It would have been nice if they said.. 30 days after release and then another 30 days after Online releases...

Played for a couple of hours today, it's like "launch day, the sequel" out there. All I seem to have seen is lots more sub rank 10 players charging from one blip to the next.

 

When I have to kill someone just to sell to the butcher I know it's time for me to log off.

Wasn’t Rockstar talking all about how they’re using special new servers this time around for RDO? Lol.

 

I get disconnected pretty much every session. Why can’t they just put you in your own lobby or not let the cloud save like GTAO instead of just kicking you to the menu if there is server issues. This isn’t because it’s Christmas Day either. Been like this since launch.

If you don’t mind, could you explain to me real quick the difference between how things were with GTAO vs. the way RDO currently works, in reference to your above mentioned “cloud save”. I’ve been fighting the constant disconnects since RDO launched too and I’ve always been curious why it just doesn’t empty out the lobby like it did whenever I would play GTAO? Also, since that did occur to me occasionally when playing GTAO, and since I’m now having hell with RDO, does that mean it’s on my end (internet issue)? I’m almost positive my disconnects happen more frequently as the number of players in my lobby goes up, EXCEPT for last night! For some damn reason, I was able to play 2hrs+ with no issue, but everything’s back to normal again today. I’m getting the same message from Rockstar saying it’s their servers fault, but is that necessarily true? Thanks in advance!!

The main difference I've noticed compared to GTAO is that if you have slower internet GTAO will put you in a low population lobby, or even a solo public lobby, but in RDO rather than allow you to play in solo public you just won't be able to connect or will suffer constant disconnections.

 

I'm sure someone with actual technical knowledge of how it works will see this and explain the how and why of the difference between GTAO and RDO in this regard.

Yes I ran into a level 84 the other night just killing our posse over and over with a ghosting glitch. It sucks and they should be banned.

I'm sure it's been said a million times already, but i'm sick and tired of these auto-aim headshot junkies in showdown matches! It's literally just: Run into the action, get shot, respawn, repeat.

 

Literally the only way to actually kill someone is to shoot him from behind... The dodging mechanic is almost pointless.

seeing semi decent weapons locked away until level 30-40?! like seriously? it takes about 3 strangers missions (which will take about 1.5-2 hours to complete) at about rank 11 to rank up, there is just no need to lock stuff like that away. its just galling knowing you'll have to grind for hours to get anywhere

 

obviously a passive mode should exist but seeing as its "the wild west" and all i sorta get that they haven't implemented it yet - however what i'm sick of is r* encouraging and rewarding players for interrupting their play. killing another player or their horse should result in a big loss of honor , and make it more likely for those players to spawn in lounges with players of a similar honor so peaceful players that just want to enjoy the scenery/hunt or do stranger missions get on with it

 

not a big fan of not being able to set up my own camp wherever i like. you can't carry a carcass and cook it instantly, you have to get that f*cking useless old rube cripps to set one up, even if you select the part of the map you're already in it takes you well out of your way to ride there just to cook some venision. like either scrap the eating system entirely or let us camp wherever. why make the game even more of a fun-sucking exercise?

Just like they should incorporate that you need to fill up your vehicles with gas in GTA:O!

 

Cant be hazzled over getting spawn killed over and over and cant wait for invite lobby or a passive system where you cant kill or damage other players but can defend yourself from wild animals!

Besides getting on for the gold and cash reward I haven't played the online in 12 days. Such a boring game, add private lobbies so we can get the roleplay community going at least

Noob here. Loved the single player game, been trying out online for a couple weeks (level 16) but the grinding and insane PvP slaughterhouse has me just about ready to sign off for good. I'm not an expert gamer but am a pretty good shot and had to take to the forums to try understand why multiple bolt action headshots won't have any effect on many players in PvP. Answer: ability cards, esp slow and steady, of course! 

 

This is not realistic combat, and it's not fun (is it even fun for the higher levels who are easily wiping everyone out?). 

 

No interest in grinding up to level 24 to get S&S, and no interest in slaughtering the lower levels to then rank higher. Won't even go into griefing, which is painfully bad.

 

IMHO RDO is

- designed first and foremost around the economy (rather than achievement, honor, etc)

- a missed opportunity for world building -- no roles to play like lawman, bounty hunter, ranch hand, even shop owner(!)

- the exact opposite of the "living" feel and experience of SP (which, to me, is amazing). Online feels phony and empty.

 

Really wanted to love RDO, will likely give another chance next year. Maybe. The thing that concerns me most is the game design. Not sure R* will even be able to make the wholesale changes to make this a great game. 

 

NB to R*: make a great game and charge a small subscription like $3/month.

I'm getting seriously tired of:

• I shoot down 5 Canadian geese. 2 despawn for no reason. (as an example, happens indiscriminately across all animals)
• Trying to sell a pelt at the butchers. No response. Back out, go back in, pelt is gone but didn't get paid for it.
• Cargo disappears from horse if horse gets out of sight
