"Modders". Have had that happen to me in various situations--none of them with any plausible explanation other than cheating dweebs using their no-skills-required menus.

 

Only problem is that it can take 15-20 minutes (or more?) of game play before your hostility gets decreased and you can switch back to Defensive mode; and I don't believe changing sessions will clear it any faster?

 

That said, RDO's wanted level smokes wacky weed; I've killed NPCs and seconds later get charged with "Vandalism" or "Disturbing the peace" (without touching any wagons/horses, etc.). Not sure which 12-year-old at R* was responsible for that pile 'o code.

Had an elk try to get me after I finished a random roadblock up in the mountains.

I was looting the bodies and I glimpsed antlers come up behind me just as I rounded a stack of crates to loot another body, so I continued to dodge around and then shot the bugger for my first elk skinning daily.

I guess the joke was on him.

 

I'm quite sure all the bodies would have disappeared had the elk killed me.

Yeah, once they come after me, they're dead--if I can get them. Same goes for those little raccoons or possums or whatever that bite my ankle and then try to run away. 

 

I managed to kite a cougar to a small body of water and went in up to my knees. Since kitties don't like water, he just sort of stood there, pacing and growling. I was going to pop him but remembered my next stop--Harriet. So I went into the water a little deeper and the cat ran away. He deserved to get popped more than those little ankle biters but I didn't feel like taking a Harriet nap.

I tried a small rock (the only one I could find quickly) earlier to get away from a cougar, he paced around the rock once then swiped me with his claws once and that was that.  

 

I've taken to picking and buying prairie poppy from Madam to craft sedative rounds more often than not lately.

It's expensive at $1 per round, but I have lots of money and Harriet can't spray me, though she's been tweaked to not spray as much as before.

I only visit her if it's a daily now.

Ah, Phelps, your presence makes me sad.  I bought LA Noire a few weeks ago, and it arrived a few days ago... but I can't play it, it freezes on the Logo screen, and won't play.  The jazz is very nice and all, but I'd rather actually play the game.

LA Noire is a great game.

Even though I'm a completely incompetent detective, the detail and atmosphere are fantastic.

 

There may be workarounds for the freezing.

I seem to remember having to tweak something at the beginning, though it might have been a Steam issue, it's been a long time.

 

I just checked, there are a lot of 'won't start' issues posted: https://steamcommunity.com/app/110800/discussions/

Some of the fixes are non-Steam specific, maybe something there will help?

Ya, I'm not using Steam, or even the Rockstar Launcher.  I bought the DVDs, and run the game from that.  I CAN launch it from the Rockstar Launcher, but it says "Play on Disc," and just launches the same launcher playing from the disc does.  I'm currently in communication with Rockstar Support (going on into week 2 now), hoping to find a fix.

When the Naturalist update came out I lost all of the wraps on my weapons that were on my horse.  The guns in my camp locker were fine.  I also can't reapply ANY wraps on my guns now, if I go to the screen they are grayed out and I can't select them.  Anybody else have the same issue?  (PS4 BTW)

Eagle eye works just fine for me (PC, Steam)--but not Dead eye! Glad to know I'm not the only one who has run into this..!

Still broken f*cking game...or a cheater.

There was one player consistently throughout the broken session: none of the vendors were available, many props were missing from buildings, no random missions spawning.

Switched sessions and things began working.

 

And Madam isn't showing up on the collector map today.

 

edit: also, another shine raid today, that's 3 in a week. I cancelled it by reforming my posse.

The launcher is still crashing if I use the Steam overlay to start it, even though I still have to hit OK in the consent box for running as admin when using this method.

I suspect it's disabling the 'run as administrator' option, even though it's checked in 2 separate places in the program's properties tab.

 

It will work by just selecting the launcher app in the program menu without right clicking run as admin.

 

Which brings me to the reason I use the Steam overlay: taking and managing screenshots.

There is no provision in the PC version of the game I have found to take a screenshot. you can take pictures and upload them to social club, but that is not the same thing as a screenshot.

I've tried to set up my AMD app to take screenies and record but can't get it to work for some reason, it shouldn't be this hard.

 

And why should I need to use an outside app to take screenshots and video?

Isn't it a reasonable expectation that this functionality would be an integral part of the game?

i can select the wrap's. but the wrap's i put on in the gun shop will mysteriously change to another color once im back out.

You could just press the Print Screen key on the keyboard and then just open paint or whatever to paste the screenshot in, or use the screen snip widget if on Windows 10 in the Action / Notification area..

Then I need a 3rd party site to host the pics if I want to share them anywhere. I used to use photobucket until they wanted to charge for it. I prefer to stay away from the mass social media mess, no interest in that stuff.

Using Steam handled everything in one easy step: hit F12 and later upload to cloud, done.

I use Win7, BTW. I had to use 10 at work and hated it.

Trying to chase pronghorns in the desert was what really made me turn away from the naturalist role.

A complete waste of time and ammo, the deer rocket through bushes and rocks without slowing down, yet your stupid horse comes to a full stop at the first 2 inch high rock and gets stuck, bushes block shots like hard cover.

Not worth the time or trouble.

Once I had my horse sidestep to the left all the way off a cliff when it was avoiding a 3 foot high rock. I was trying to get it to go around to the right but it has a mind of it's own. Also, when there is a gap big enough to go between 2 boulders, it refuses to do so, even when it's walking. It'll sidestep a 3 foot high rock but run face first into a boulder while avoiding the smaller one too. I've sent feedback numerous times about allowing us to have 100% control of our horses because of the problem with them doing the opposite of what we say many times which makes the problem even worse. If I run my horse into a tree or boulder, that will be on me. I don't need or want autopilot, especially the one implemented in this game.

The game making us automatically sheath our rifles when on horseback overriding every other command drives me absolutely nuts.

I went off a cliff yesterday because instead of dismounting as I was trying to do I had to put away a rifle first, because obviously that takes precedence over everything else.

Well it is sort of realistic and gives a depth that they act out of their own a little but... they just need to make them smarter or remove certain reactions... for example just avoid  the boulders that are a pair of feet tall  and automatically go through the middle in certain trees zones no matter what the player commands.

Yeah, I've (personally) just found Bandicam easier to manage and use (though of course it's not free). Earlier versions used to have problems finding Vulkan screens, but not any more--works fine now.

 

I used to use Fraps with GTA Online, but it hasn't been updated for a long time now.

Oh my goodness, yes! Especially boulders and small rocks. It needs to be fixed--badly.

 

Getting my horse to just go around them is a major headache, and unless I missed something, I don't see lawmen or other NPCs struggling to get around them...

 

As an example, the narrow trail along the west-side cliff leading up into Tumbleweed has a small rock that's always a headache to get my horse past. >8(

I have managed to get Steam to launch the game properly now, had to select the launcher as the target rather than the RDR2 exe.

It still wouldn't take a screeny, maybe a tweak is required in game or in Steam. I had to manually select the screenshot folder again.

Now that I think of it, it might work by setting RDR2 exe as an open as admin file, maybe it would go back to working as before.

edit: looks like that will work, it restored the background and screenshot preview in Steam when I changed it.

 

It's a lot of unnecessary crap to regain functionality I had until Tuesday, and should be a basic feature of the game to start with.

I understand on consoles you can use the console's own proprietary features to handle this, but R* shouldn't have left this up to the user to sort out, it's not like they haven't got the money to get it done properly.

 

I do appreciate the offer, if needs be, later perhaps. 

 

I'm not a technophobe, but I do prefer to try to keep things as simple as possible, the fewer steps required to do a job, or the less I have to add to get something to work means there's less to go wrong and try to figure out when an 'update' borks everything.

I tried using deadeye and it works fine for me, and no slowdown while using eagle eye.

No idea what would have changed there, but they did break it back when Moonshiners was released as well.

Added:  the session was broken again today, different players than yesterday so not cheating just the usual glitches, no vendors were available again, though random missions did spawn regularly, but the tables and counters were gone when I went into the abandoned saloon at Emerald.

I did find a kitty outside for a photo, and it followed me for a bit.

We should be able to pat the cats as well as dogs.

For many reasons, mainly that I can't get comfortable using a controller.

The other reasons are more preference, but I just can't get used to the control scheme.

My son has a 360, which I used to play RDR1, but I had to buy a converter to run a mouse & keyboard.

There are pros and cons to each platform, I'm a pc gamer, particularly because I play a lot more than just shooter type games, and the vast majority of what I like is not available on a console.

 

Also having to re-buy games I already own to be able to use new hardware is not something I'm OK with.

When your in the trees the horse will miss them if you don't touch the left stick. That works pretty well as long as you aren't going full speed ahead. However, if I'm steering the horse I would like it to go in the direction I'm telling it to because when it goes the opposite way it screws me up. Then you have these times when it decides to pole dance a tree. lol

Spending $400-$500 for a console to play one game is a no go for me. PC games tend to be better anyway due to the options that you get with the game and mods and will remain better even after PS5 is released. Mods are a big thing for me. Just to let it be known, I never use mods online. RDR2 is the ony game I play online anyway.
