Do you tend to stay in defensive mode?

Its not passive mode by any means, but its certainly lessened the chances of anyone f*cking with me.

If anyone does start something and I'm outnumbered, I just respawn until I'm far enough away

Game is back to pre-DLC content wise! Way couldn't they ad new bounties to hunt or chase down in new locations!

None taken. Its there for a reason and if a person chooses not to use it, they're increasing their chances of being attacked.

As you said, its not like Passive Mode in GTAO. The only reason to ever come out of Defensive Mode is to PvP so if you are out of it I have no sympathy for people getting attacked.

That's insane how the "defensive" as taken over RDO, i've barely seen it before pc release when i was on ps4 playing. On pc release same it was barely known that "defensive mode" was there before like "the end of january 2020". 
I don't want to admit anything but i think it maybe due to modder/cheater that it became a "most use" these last months, i doubt "griefer" is the reason that defensive mode is mostly used for since i've rarely encountered them. 

I've been playing from Ps4 first day rdo beta to now PC, it's just don't feel the same. I'm surprised to be killed by a random player nowaday...
I don't use Defensive mode, always liked pvp freeroam even if it cost time/money, it's a part of the game for me.

But i definitly understand people who do use Defensive mode. 

*Edit: Yes it's my experience and ppl may have not experienced the same, i understand it. Enjoy the game the way you like to enjoy it.

As it should be, I am sorry but if you want PvP there are specific modes you can go in to do that. Attacking people randomly in Free Roam makes you a dick.

Defensive Mode won't save you from Modders.

It is rare but Defensive Mode is one of the big reasons it is. Look at GTAO, where all it takes is a press of the auto-aim button and fire and you spoil someone's day. When you actually have to work for the kill most people can't be arsed. People have tried to play it like GTAO and they have been scared off. The RDO community are genuinely good people, I saw an upsurge of assholes when the game came to Xbox Game Pass, they soon got driven away.

True i've seen wave come and go and you can see a GTA player instantly in is manner. It's true (specially discord one etc) that RDO community have good people BUT in free roam, now they tend to stay away from player as much as they can. I remember being able to approach ppl lol.

Loaded back in, went to Harriet and of course, the mission isn't available.

 

Same happened to me yesterday. I fixed it by blindly selecting dynamite from the weapon wheel and killing myself with it. 

No prompt to respawn, but hit the button anyway, spawned back in and was able to complete mission. 

 

BTW, thanks for the free poncho for crafting a trinket this week R*! 

Oh wait.. I have all the trinkets already. 

 

Probably just a voucher anyway but it's not the point.

I see the bug somehow still persists where Maggie and Marcel don't show up in the moonshine shack. I feel like I always look ridiculous going in and out of my shack and peeking through the door in the hall to check that Maggie is there before going downstairs to see Marcel

To answer the questions from earlier - I always make sure I'm in defensive mode when I log into a session - I don't check it every single time I step through a door - nor should I need to.

Still - griefers gotta grief.

Long before the Naturalist update the moonshiners story mission was f*cked up. I never touch it since i got infinite black screen after did one mission for daily and that daily went to not-to-do list anymore.

Or when you do a stranger mission you need to go back to settings and go into defensive after mission completed, I once or twice got caught short via this way back, But yes generally if your not defensive then that says your up for pvp

I hardly ever come across griefy players in RDO and if you do you can just parlay. It's not like GTA where idiots on OPmk2's ruin every session.

I wonder if, sorry, I mean when RDO comes to next gen, they’ll introduce invite only lobbies as another reason to get us to buy the game again, I feel there is some things Rockstar are holding back on so that they can use the tired old excuse that current generation cannot handle all incoming and outgoing data fast enough and they couldn’t get it perfected hence all the disconnects we seem to get when the game loads in too many assets at once or something, since it took them a long time to fix animal spawns in near brought full lobbies which are actually now even better for when you do manage to get a solo lobby as there are more animals in solo lobbies too than there used to be that’s for sure.

Im am Defensive 24/7, but Often the Game Puts you in offensive Mode and you have to Switch manually Back to Defense.

We only got rolls so far and I can bet that it is limitations to console or that is what R* blaming it on! It took them two years to fix the animals and a patch to ef it up all over again!

I had packed my horse with gator skins and a couple of animals north of Bluewater and headed for my camp (southwest of Downes Ranch, on the bank of the river), so stopped by my shine shack to brew a batch to sell later.

When I came out of the shack my horse was acting weird: she was flipping her head to each side rapidly as if one of the gator skins on her back was spooking her, so I anticipated something bad happening soon.

I rode hard, you can make it girl!

Headed through Twin Stack Pass, down the slope toward the area around Caliban's seat, just made it to the river road and....

I'm getting so tired of the people in the condor egg event, it used to be such a simple nice way to earn an easy 1k and now all the griefers join and camp the locations with dynamite, complete bs.

Definitely one of the most infuriating sounds of all time.

 

I did some work outside, waited for some stain to dry and logged back in.

As soon as I loaded in I got a black loading screen (with the revolving loading cylinder) then a notification to go rescue the shine buyer.

Shot the revenuers, untied the buyer and he just cowered in a bush, so I ran him down with my horse about 15 times until he was dead.

 

I figured I'd have plenty of time spent while finishing off:

hunting down some gators

resupplying the camp

riding around the desert with my cold weather outfit on to get overheated so I could use a hardy tonic

selling to Madam

 

By the time I finished all that I could sell shine again.

Totally agree. It's rare to see a community so friendly to each other. There are assholes of course but in my view they make up the exceptions. I like to be in offensive because I like the uncertainty, and it keeps me on my toes, but I never look for trouble. It's cool that there's always a possibility that someone will turn on you, but we as players are making that choice and the choice carries weight. You pick a fight, you better be prepared for a fight.

 

It's like RDO actually is inhabited by real people, whereas in GTAO every player in a public session might as well be called "aimbot1429".

 

Haven't been on much lately though, but I definitely will be at some point.

 

EDIT: I just realized this is the B&M thread, and I made a Gasp&Praise instead, lol. Oh well.
